This game is utter shit and it completely ruined the public perception of Shadow forever. Nothing will ever be able to redeem him after this steaming pile of elephant shit somehow became a reality. Great atmosphere my ass.

If Sonic should hold the gun then this game plays differently, Shadow is enough for being a edgy cunt without the gun, but now holy shit im based

user did you have a stroke

It plays like ass
>Shadow runs too fast to do missions where you need to look around to collect stuff
>Levels involve back tracking but they are all build like one way race tracks with massive bottomless pits
>Boss battles are brainless
>Annoying sidekicks that talk too much and give out to you for doing the right thing (Black Doom has his minions blocking a door but you need to kill them to open it)
>Awful 4kids cast
>Forever ruined Shadow into Ow the Edge meme
>Villian is stupid
>GUN majour is stupid

I liked it

No, originally Sonic should hold the gun because "its too edgy for him, Shadow is gud with gun".
If he's holding the gun then his a badass.
Trust me, its good.

Sonic canonically cannot use guns because he hates guns

>great atmosphere?
On what planet when most of the levels were copy and pasted?

>Shadow runs too fast to do missions where you need to look around to collect stuff
Not that fast.. The game has plenty of points where it's just big dumb circular room you run around in. But that flow kind of sucked regardless. It was kind of that way in Heroes as well but with less interesting gimmicks here.
>>Levels involve back tracking but they are all build like one way race tracks with massive bottomless pits
Yeah fuck this.
>>Boss battles are brainless

>>Annoying sidekicks that talk too much and give out to you for doing the right thing (Black Doom has his minions blocking a door but you need to kill them to open it)
This was the dumbest thing. If I'm trying to fucking help that dumbass space starfish why won't he have his minions help me?
>>Awful 4kids cast
Nah they're good.
>>Forever ruined Shadow into Ow the Edge meme
He's always been "Dark Sonic", so it was kind of inevitable.
>>Villian is stupid
Very
>>GUN majour is stupid
Not as much as Black Mamba but yeah.

Btw you're not a true Shadow the Hedgehog fan unless you've done all 326 routes.

I only did the neutral route but it was honestly pretty fun, not as good as heroes (which I really love fuck off). Definitly enjoyed it more then any part of SA2.

Also the soundtrack was cool as shit

Personally I think Shadow the Hedgehog was the best performance the 4kids VAs did

>Sonic hates guns
>Tails has a minigun on his machina

Nah Black Knight was way better.

>Btw you're not a true Shadow the Hedgehog fan unless you've done all 326 routes
How long would this actually take? And you'd only see the same 10 or so endings

There are zero levels in Shadow the Hedgehog that require backtracking of any kind.

>He loves heroes
This, i also like heroes as well, the memorable theme makes me kino.

You're not a true Shadow the Hedgehog fan unless you disown this shitty game for ruining him.

>>Awful 4kids cast
>Nah they're good.
Are people nostalgic for this now? Griffith sounded asleep all the time. Rouge sounded 55. Dan Greene, I do love the guy but he was horribly mis-cast, Amy always sounded on the verge of tears

>Kill 40 black aliens
>Opps, accidently zoomed by one of those bats

It's cool seeing more Hero fans., game gets way too hard of a press

The real fun is imagining how these horribly unrelated scenarios would actually work together and the absolute mental gymnastics Shadow has to go through to murder everyone in one scene and then down the road just decide "i'm good now"

All of the cut scenes felt so weird and disjointed. He'd be randomly wrapped to a new area and act like he forgot that he just shot down the president's plane

If you're going to go for the dark/hero missions for the first time, why would you be zooming at all instead of looking out for the enemies? They're not very hard to miss. And when you get used to the levels, then you can go faster and faster and beat your times. The first playthrough isn't designed around speed, which is a bit silly in a Sonic game, but it's nowhere near terrible.

Unless you're playing one of the open levels like Central City or Mad Matrix.
Or miss one enemy that was down another path.

Mad Matrix Dark is the only one I'll give you, but the bombs in central city are placed in that they lead you to the next one, like a trail of breadcrumbs. And Mad Matrix Dark at least is courteous enough to give you a free A rank no matter what.

I almost wish current Sonic games had a stronger continuity.

Why do people complain about the president and GUN Commander being "realistic" when they have the exact same proportions as Eggman? Look at their cartoonishly huge hands and feet.

It still does

Up to Sonic 06 maybe. The games after that had a very different tone. It shifted from "Sonic adventures to IRL cities n shit" and then they dialed it back to be more like a kids cartoon. I can't even suffer through the cutscenes in Generations. They move like the dinosaurs from Barney the Dinosaur or something. That, and the dialogue sucked shit, and the story was negligible. Boost to win was fun for a minute, but god DAMN am I just disappointed with the direction Sanic went when he finally became 3D.

Silly Adventure Zoomer. Sonic had originally been a whacky too cool for school cartoon setting where the only human was Robotnik. Adventure started the whole these weird child sized animal plushes in realistic cities nonsense. I never liked it, too jarring

I'm still mad that the route system was never explored further in any other Sonic game. It's such a good way to encourage multiple playthroughs.

Yeah, it was the one thing I thought this game got right, aside from some of the songs.

It oozed soul even though the devs put no effort in whatsoever

I was disappointed they rebooted Sonic after this game. What goes up must come down I guess.

This. But having more than one starting level is a must-have next time.

Or at least if you ace all three missions in the first level, it should let you skip it so you don't get Westopolis cabin feaver

>Nothing will ever be able to redeem him
If he got another starring role that was actually good and nothing like this, then that definitely might do it.

I think the best idea would be to have Hero, Neutral and Dark routes, but to have more variety in the objectives. A lot of the missions in ShTH where just variations on "kill all of X enemy type", which makes sense since they probably wanted to encourage you to use the guns and such, but if it were going to be a game were you play as Sonic, then the objectives need to be designed around speed rather than combat.

The other question is how would you do a Dark route with Sonic as the playable character?

>The other question is how would you do a Dark route with Sonic as the playable character?
have him run to the left

>Levels involve back tracking but they are all build like one way race tracks with massive bottomless pits
This was an issue back in Heroes as well. Hell, it's a major problem with most modern Sonic games, now that I think about it.
