It was great because it kind of subverted expectations that you were doing the right thing as is always the case in these kinds of shooters.
You don't always have to take the developers' stupid vision into account when enjoying a video game for what it is. He told you to turn the game off because otherwise you are a bad person? He's an idiot. You have your fun, it is a literal video game.

Try Kane and Lynch: Dead Men. Gameplay is pretty crap, but holy shit the story, especially if you choose to stay loyal to your squad at the end
