Anyone who thinks this wouldn't have had anything interesting is forgetting how many times missing prototypes are found on these things, like the unreleased Dreamcast version of Toejam and Earl 3 that was found on a devkit. It's improbable that it would have done anything for emulation, but all sorts of goodies could've been on there.

rev 1.6 consoles won't boot without a clock capacitor, but they come with much better clock capacitors than earlier models that don't leak, so it's a non-issue.

they use a literal super capacitor in 1.6 models, it'll probably last 30 years. replacing a single capacitor is trivial and takes less than a minute with improper equipment.

The best thing to do if you're ever in a situation like this as a young adult or a teenager is to sell it. I've been on Yea Forums long enough to see way too many stories of kids getting a job and buying their own PCs and consoles and whatever else just for their entire family to decide it's "everyone's" and barely let them use it themselves. If they won't respect your property there's no point in having it because at some point they're going to decide that not only is it not yours, but you don't deserve to use it ever, or maybe they'll just end up breaking it through negligence or incompetence. At least if you sell it it won't be a complete loss.
