The thing about the tower in that game is that you actually felt like you were climbing a tower because of the whole collapsing floor thing and the presentation of the floor floating in space
No modern game has ever been able to get that feeling and atmosphere quite right since

sounds rad as hell, might emulate it

Xenogears

Darm tower was pretty cool. Babel Tower in Xenogears also looked cool but the dungeon fucking sucked.

Tower of Druaga

This is nothing short of a fucking tragedy. I´m so mad this didnt make the cut.
Time constraints can suck my micro dick

Ico

The Dark Spire

it's seems weird that you head underground instead of trying to get to the top of that interesting-looking tower

I believe that dungeon is an homage to Azure Dreams as well since they're both Konami games.

Baroque is a very weird game

you do get to the top

Shadow Tower

but they never let you explore the top of the tower?

Boktai 2 has the Solar and Lunar tower dungeons that link together and have some pretty cool mini bosses and puzzles. there is also dream avenue as the marathon side dungeon that constantly ascends and is a real tough challenge.

oh ok

Great tower of the boxart that the game in no way lives up to.

I hate that you can only get one emblem per savefile on that, to get the others, you need to link to others who got a different emblem.
There is actually an end to it, at floor 99, but good luck getting there, as you need to enter there at least 33 times since each time you finish it, another 3 floors will be added starting from 30. It has the Infinite Battery part, but if you already got an Astra and Lv.3 Star lens, it doesn't really matter.

Why do people keep reminding me what DD could have been.

Final Fantasy Legend has you climb to the top of a tower, visiting different worlds along the way.

Terranigma has like 4 towers at the beginning of the game.

This game is great, it’s a shame the IP is being held hostage by nukonami

Rain World

Just make sure you don't play the remake.

Man... A new azure dreams would be awesome.

dont worry it actually wasnt much of a spoiler but youll see what i mean if you play the game

Are there any platformers that involve scaling a giant tower? Those are always my favorite levels

because sharing the suffering makes it less painful not really but I choose to beleive that

Is there an english translation of the original?

Be careful what you wish for...

This

Also Brandish (PSP) but I don't think a casual is man enough for that tower, it's a big one.

Tower of Druaga
Golden Sun

The remake does a reasonable job maintaining the atmosphere for a budget game and the gameplay isn't as jank, but I'd kill for a translation of the original. I've messed around with it in Japanese but didn't get very far.

the concept of the tower of barbs in let it die was ingenious, the tower keeps growing so game expansions could be added onto it

The original just has far better art and presentation. It's a deeply terrifying game that the remake dulls far too much.

It's a neat idea but the base game's floors alone are already a massive slog to get through and there isn't really much new story content in the post-game.

Hey I remember you from the last time you posted this thread.
Did you play Ar Tonelico and Ys?

execution was bad but the idea was a great way to make an upward version of the diablo 1 tristram cathedral

Was this the game that removed EXP from walking or something?

It's a loose sequel to Azure Dreams that removed all the rogue-like elements from the game and iirc had a horrible control scheme using the touch pad.

FFIV has the tower of Zot and tower of Babil, but they're underwhelming. I think FF Legends 1 or 2 featured one.

You climb the tower of Pisa in Castlevania Bloodlines. It's a single stage but it uses some pretty neat visual effects for a Genesis game.

This game has a big tower. It's kinda good. It's one of those games where you die and lose everything except sometimes you can save your weapon. Once you finish the first tower though it gets a bit samey though.

was this game good
i always wanted to try it

Fuck yeah, Azure Dreams. One of the few games I like to go back to constantly. Nyuels/Battnels were probably some of my favorite mosnters.

>worked my way through the main campaign
>with each run I made it ever so slightly farther
>finally powered through the final stretch of the game and tasted the sweet success of victory after so many disappointments
>go on to postgame dungeons
>difficulty spike is unreal, get absolutely smoked

Well that was fun.
