I can agree with you there.
Honestly NSMB and Wii were my favorites and arguably the most soulful (Especially when you're playing Wii with multiple people). 2 sucks ASS and U is painfully mediocre. NSLU is a bit better though.

I don't get why people say the NSMB series is a rehash fest, is it literally just because they all have new and their name and NSMB2 and NSMBWii came out slightly too close to each other?

All the Mario 3D sandbox games have timed powerups because it's literally almost impossible to loose them with getting damage

In galaxy the powerups are literally just wagglefests hoping you can do something in the 5 seconds before the powerup wears off

New super mario for the Wii brought 4player action for friends to be together and an unironic helper mode if you were genuinely stuck for casuals and new comers

NSMB2 was a letdown. Barely anything original besides DUDE COINS LMAO, and they have the audacity to not even mention Wario, the king of greed. It also doesn't expand on the ideas from the previous NSMBs well, along with lacking multiplayer.
Fun fact, it also has gay DLC for a mode no one plays.
It's the weakest entry in the entire Super Mario series.
