Can someone give me a quick rundown on how to add a hard drive and ISOs to a PS2?

Don't know if you're into RPGs, but FINAL FANTASY X, X-2 + KINGDOM HEARTS I and II are in my opinion must plays, except if you have a PS4, the PS4 versions are clearly superior.

Jak amd Daxter Trilogy
sly cooper trilogy
SOCOM
Okami
FFX
DBZ Budokai Tenkaiichi 3
Shadow of the Colossus

Onions

GTA 3, VC, SA
Gran Turismo 3
Final Fantasy X
SOCOM US Navy Seals 1 & 2
Jak and Daxter 1 & 2
God of War 1

Lego Star Wars II

FAT? Get a Network adapter, SATA conversion kit, and a 2TB hard drive (Max it can handle, anything bigger will give errors)
You've got 3 options after that.
1. Network transfers, which is slow as hell
2. Winhiip connected to a computer and transferring ISOs to said hard drive
3. Rip games onto hard drive with OPL or HDLoader, which can take a while.

Best option is the second one.

Google PS2 open loader, you lazy donut.

Here, have fun

Zone of the enders

Spongebob Squarepants: Battle for Bikini Bottom

Is Gran Turismo 3 better than 4? why?

Get 4. 3 is the brainlet choice.

>Onimusha 1, 2, 3 & 4
>Resident evil: code veronica
>Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven
>Disgaea 1 & 2
>Metal Gear Solid 2 & 3
>Steel Lancer Arena International
>Zone of the Enders 1 & 2
>Prince of Persia
>Blood Omen 2
>Jade Cocoon 2

can't really think of anything else off the top of my head, but the PS2 has an absolutely amazing library of games.

>ace combat not even mentioned yet
Every single person that has posted in this thread before me is a redditor that doesn't belong here.

You gotta go back

>Game has a reddit page
>Can't play it anymore because you don't want to be a redditor
wtf bros what do I play

Why would you have a 2TB HDD, unless you were trying to download the entire PS2 library?

All Onimusha games

Do like i do, just google "name of the game" + reddit and you should get a pretty good image of what you shouldn't play.

As you can see, the opinion of anyone who uses “brainlet” is worthless.

Why not? I doubt the entire PS2 library would fit in 2TB anyways, let alone just the North American.

Way of the samurai 1+2

>FFX
>FFX-2
>Must plays
laugh and a half/10

Silent Hill 2

GUN
SOCOM series
Medal of Honor
CoD
Spyro

God Hand
SW Battlefront I + II
Kingdom Hearts I + II
Final Fantasy X
Persona 3 + 4
If you like hokkei then NHL Hitz 2003 is unironically the GOAT

>1. Network transfers, which is slow as hell
It's not THAT slow, I used it and it worked great and surprisingly quick, at least compared to using DVDs. I agree that using a dedicated hard drive is much faster but don't knock network like that, it can be good in a pinch.
USB is the real shitstain method of loading games, it's unbearably slow. Avoid at any cost.

why? is 3 better?

Sata Network adapter from bangood.
Western digital blue 1tb.
Buy a FMCB card but not the 64MB third party ones because they suck shit and have a habit of forgetting your data.

Thanks, does every game work with this method?

How do i make my ps2 look good in my hdtv? I guess getting component cables would help but i don't know if the quality would be substantially better.

Just get a 4:3 screen and go ham.

Not OP, but thx for this :D

Keep in mind this is just the method I use. There are probably dozens of methods.

Most games work with no adjustment, with some you need to enable a mode or two. Here is the continuously updated compatibility list.
ps2-home.com/forum/page/opl-game-compatibility-list-1

A guy i know has a HD on his PS2 and he told me that some games don't work or are buggy.

Get a upscaler, there are some cheap ones. Or

Component cables and force 4:3 in the options. If you are comfortable splashing some cash on the cause buy a Retrotink 2x.

retrotink.com

Works with everything I've thrown at it (even 3DO and PCEngine) besides N64.

I only have a PS2 slim and have heard that playing games from USB is pretty shitty. What should I use instead?

Memory cards. Man, I'm still mad about memory cards.

Just mod it and burn games onto dvd's. Better than nothing.

imo 3 > 4
GT3 is such a definitive ps2 game
GT4 has more stuff, but doesn't mean better
Take for example the added longer endurance races of 24 hours. They suck balls actually, because IRL 24hrs endurance races have multiple drivers, and you probably won't have multiple players.

Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria
TimeSplitters 2 and Future Perfect
DMC1 and 3 for max atmosphere which HD collection lacks.
Onimusha 1 and 3, 2 is fine but it didn't click on me.
Psi-Ops: The Mindsgate Conspiracy, ends on cliffhanger though.
Viewtiful Joe 1 and 2 if you can't play gamecube versions for whatever reason.
I heard MAXIMO games are alright.

user.. Reddit has a Yea Forums page.

>Spoiler
WTF BROS WE CAN'T WIN

Yeah it's much more convenient to fuck around with profiles and cloud storage when you are trying to play over a friends house instead of inserting a small rectangle.

Netflix of course.

Why not? Well the cost for a bunch of games you won’t play vs skimming the cream off the top

If money is no issue, sure, but I wouldn’t even think the time wasted of downloading the games and putting them on the HDD is worth it

sly 1's anti-piracy is triggered by OPL no matter what modes i use

DVD for the best read speed, but many games work well enough over SMB

An archival fag would say otherwise.
>If money is no issue, sure
It's currently $50 for a 2TB HDD. Anything lower is just shaving off a few dollars.

I really enjoyed MGS3. Before everything became so... modern.

I had no idea HDDs were that cheap these days, I’ve moved on to SSDs. I knew they were cheap but I figured 2TB would still be mear $100 bucks or some shot

Get a CRT, the way the games were meant to be displayed. Anything else is a compromise. You might even be able to find one cheap/free on Craigslist, nobody really wants them anymore.

Was waiting for one of these threads to pop up.
Using the Gamestar HDD adapter and most games are running well, provided I configure them right but Initial D Special Stage gives me occasional in-game stutter even if I use mode 2. Any PS2 gurus have advice?

What does it do? Want to say werks on my machine but I've only finished Raleigh's world.

One thing I love doing with OPL is putting widescreen hacks into the cheat files for some games, like Ratchet & Clank, to make HD collections obsolete.

Has anyone played Gundam vs Zeta Gundam? I enjoyed Zeonic Front and I'm wondering if that one is good too.

Black
Dark Cloud
Timesplitters 2
Silent Hill games bar Origins. You aren't missing much with that.

makes keys and bottles disappear and grabbing not work, you would have noticed already

Damn, that's pretty cheeky. You using the latest OPL?

Third Strike was on the PS2? since fucking when? i thought it was a dreamcast game

>killer7
>psychonauts
>worthwhile PS2 games

Armored Core series
Ace Combat series
Onimusha series

Godhand
Warship Gunner 2
Romancing SaGa: Minstrel Song
Breath of Fire: Dragon Quarter

MoH and CoD for the ps2 suck dick.

Silent Hill 2
Resident Evil 4

And as a bonus, here's a game only i probably played and enjoyed: Conflict Desert Storm

>Network transfers, which is slow as hell
bad meme, werks on my machine

ZoE HD on PS3 with the patch is unironically a better game, but good recommendations.

Do the official adapters with a SATA replacement board really work better than the knock offs?

I believe you need component cables AND an upscaler, nothing else will make it look NOT like shit
t. have some shitty hdtv and component cables and it still looks like garbage

>1st game listed is skygunner
my nigga

the adapters that are wholly knock offs have no networking

fuck, ps2 had so many good games

no wonder 'ps3 has no game' became such a meme on Yea Forums

absoluteshittaste/10

>How do i make my ps2 look good in my hdtv?
not possible unless you can force 480p. Even a framemeister makes games look like shit.

Children too young to have grown up with a PS2 should realize you need a memory card to save games.

You're allowed to have wrong opinions.

The game of selling that same PS2 console for more than you paid for.

they totally fucked the handling in 4; the cars have absolutely no weight to them at all

Not him but I just bought a new TV. It's rather so-so at best for HD content but having run a GameCube on it over composite and it was surprisingly clean. I think it does SD content better than HD content.

Haven't tried my PS2 on it yet, though.

Sly Cooper Trilogy
Jack Trilogy
Siren
Fatal Frame
Persona 3 and 4
Metal Gear Solid 2 and 3
Star Wars Battlefront 2
Devil May Cry 1 and 3
These are just off the top of my head. May come back with more.

GTA: Vice City.

does ps2 have touhou games?
