Hollow Knight is a bit more than a platformer though.

It plays a lot like a classic metroidvania which is autistic game genre at its core. It has decent combat mechanics and beautiful atmosphere but sucks at being accessible to enjoy any of it. After 10 hours of gamelpay all that backtracking and respawning enemies really killed all fun for me. In my opinion Ori is way better game overall because it's actually fixed all the issues I had about metroidvanias at took the concept to the next level instead of doing another 'classic' experience.
