Two characters have what amounts to hacks in other games, so many abilities prevent the target from taking action, everyone has infinite ammo which promotes just spraying into a hairball and picking up random kills, many characters are countered by so many new additions and have been basically forgotten about. And they just keep adding more and more fucking barriers to the game, as if anyone finds it fun to put down a wall and sit behind it, shooting at the other guy's wall while anyone who flanks gets picked off for not being behind their team's wall.

I play with my friends a few times a week but man does the game feel stale. The level design and modes stifle creativity, especially with the role queue in effect now every match feels more and more the same.

I don't understand how a billion dollar company with hundreds of workers can only manage to crank out a few maps every year. I mean maybe they could make a couple of esport tier perfectly balanced maps a year, but as a casual player I would have liked dozens of new maps to play on. It got fucking boring after 6 months because boring chokepoint maps and too much focus on balancing instead of fun.

I play with friends a few times a week as well, Love 2-2-2, we can actually get competetive games consistently now rather than having to deal with 4-5 dps shit every other game.
The only map we all hate is Paris, it just needs another way to the point other than that hard choke at the cafe.

That's not how budgeting works. The map creation team don't get to just dip in to the entire Blizzard bank account, nor do they get to commandeer as many of those hundreds of staff as they need to create new content as fast as possible.
They most likely have some content schedule based on how much they need to trickle out to the user base in order to sustain interest. Then an appropriate amount of people and resources would be budgeted to meet that schedule, no more no less. They are releasing this few maps because they simply don't want to release them any more often than they are.

No its not. Almost 90 Gods out of slightly over 100 were used in pro-level in SMITE. Blizzard just doesn't know how to balance shit at all. Easy fixes for Overwatch balance would be to double the damage across the board and halve the healing (so you don't get healed back to full right after a fight, but that you got healed so you survived one teamfight but wont survive a second one if you dont back off to heal).
Couple of years ago SMITE had an overall healing nerfed with every god and the healers got a lot of damage or hefty QoL buffs to balance that out. As a result teamfights are much faster, things die much faster and yet healing is still very important because its the primary way to reset after a teamfight instead of during it.
And one very simple fix to the weakest OW heroes is to give them antiheal in their kit. If Torb gun- and turret shots give a heal debuff to the target for 3 secs (that doesn't stack) with each shot he makes, suddenly he has a very important role in the game despite sucking hard otherwise.
If you can do this you must be in bronze. Even in gold he starts becoming useless against decent players.

Those are massive changes, you can't know that this is the solution to the balance problem without collecting data over many hours of testing from thousands of players, never mind the fact that you won't even get useful data until players have had time to adjust to such enormous changes and re-learned how to play.

OW also has a problem with way too long TTK. Hopping around in a circle slapping each other with wet rags is not fun gameplay or gunplay for that matter. Overall TTK is so slow that teams have to rely on extreme single target burst damage to kill anything.

On the contrary. When a 3rd person MOBA has more fast-paced teamfights than your "fast-paced shooter", then you got severe problems with your gameplay. Heres some highlights from a SMITE pro-player for example:

You even have other teambased FPS games with slightly longer TTKs than say CS, simply copy their ideas. Like lets say Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory, average TTK 2-4 seconds, not 9-10 seconds like in OW. An FPS should not be more slow-paced than a fucking MOBA game and yet Overwatch is exactly that. Its boring jumping in a circle, shooting each other with peashooters because nothing fucking dies.

Having faster time to kill would fuck up Overwatch even more and make Widow/Hanzo completely useless. Overwatch is slow because teams keep waiting until they get their ult to fight again, ults should be something that you have to carefully think when to use and not something you use every fight.

And the gameplay is this way because you can't win by gunplay alone. Too often the gameplay turns into a stalemate of healing and shields, so the only way to break that stalemate is to either get one very lucky kill or rely on ults. Faster TTK means guns are more powerful, which means you don't need ults in every single teamfight and positioning becomes far more important than jumping in a circle.
Once again things die much faster in a 3rd person action MOBA game and teamfights are over much more quickly. Overwatch really has no excuse for the fact the healing and shields are too strong and the game lacks any real AoE nukes to counter turtling- and bioballing tactics.

Having every character with a strong TTK would make healers useless, they need to completely change Overwatch to make something like this work.
I think having healers like Mercy was their biggest mistake since it requires nearly an entire team effort to kill a mercy focus healing someone, if they had only healers like Lucio and Zennyata this game would have a healthier meta.

On the contrary. That was what an ultimate at the begining, used on targets who are already injured? It took like 4 seconds to kill them, longer than a number of ults in OW. I can hook and kill someone in like a second with a basic ability in Overwatch. Overwatch TTK is around 2 seconds generally. It's only 9-10 seconds if you're not good at aiming and you're hitting a target that's being healed by both supports or there's a barrier. Overwatch time to kill is about 2 seconds because the practice bots in the training range have 200 HP and you can kill them in like 2 seconds with body shots on many many characters.

Pharah is such an odd character, because if she doesn't have anyone to pocket her then she's effectively dead weight if the other team has hitscan. Plus her ultimate is like giving the enemy team a rope so they can hang you with it.

No it doesnt. It ironically makes healing stronger because it becomes clutch- and reset healing. A person who can survive 4 bullets is more likely going to survive than the person who survives only 3. Once more in SMITE healing was nerfed across the board in the entire game but nowadays its more important than ever because it gives the team an edge in a teamfight, it just doesn't heal you back to full in seconds anymore like it used to, so if your team won but is badly blooded, they might have to pull back to heal in a safer place for a while.
In OW's case it would make the map health position control much more important too and add a whole new layer of depth to the game if healing wouldn't be so overly easy that it negates 95% of all gunplay happening in between ults.

If you're bronze. Nobody dies to Hog alone in higher level Overwatch, he always needs a combo of at least 2 other heroes and even then the target might not die. Not in higher level matches where healing and shields get obviously spammed because they're too good.
Nobody cares what bad players are doing, they stand in place shooting each other and the TTK with them is one second. If TTK would be 2 seconds in Overwatch in general, you wouldnt need every single ult in every single teamfight.

Now I know you're in bronze or low silver. The higher in SR you go the lower the TTK is. People generally can't move their characters faster, but they get faster and faster at reacting and aiming. You can just watch higher level play and see that solo kills happen and quickly.
In a game with way less healing, what little bit healing you can find becomes more valuable. The only character you would need to change to have more of a hybrid role than just healbot would be Mercy but fuck Mercy and fuck Mercy mains.
