It's convenient, has multiple fun ways to play most games, has good exclusives, and you can take comfort in the fact that this isn't a failed console.
The switch lite is coming soon, but i'd just get the normal switch if i were you.

Rather convince you to wait until the switch lie comes out seeing as it is cheaper and actually portable.

Buy an older model, hack it.Then you got yourself a piracy and emulation machine on top of a Linux computer and Android tablet.

The main reason to not get it is nothing ever goes on sale, and you are going to see a lot games that are basically steam leftovers. If you can deal with that go nuts

Buy a WiiU instead

I just got back from the store with mine, setting it up right now. Picked up FE and Smash to start with and plan on getting tropical freeze after I get paid.
I like how responsive it feels so far and how light it is in the hand. also the little "click" when you move the cursor in the menus is satisfying. with this, my PS4, and a pretty decent gaming rig I think I'm pretty much set.

Any recs on third party pro controllers? The doriftu is unbearable for almost all of my games and the official pro controller is so expensive(and I worry that it will have the exact same drift problem)

Coming from a Switch owner. Sure there’s Smash and Odyssey and a few other things, but it’s an underwhelming system with the most bare bones UI/features

Do you like Nintendo games and want their latest releases? If yes, get a Switch (or just wait for Yuzu to be actually functional I suppose). If not, don't bother.
