It can be both, champ and item builds may change but the whole 1-1-2 Jungle lane setup has been the same since Season 1 with only VERY brief moments where something different became viable for a couple weeks before getting nerfed to return things to status quo.

S4 was the nosedive where they started really crunching in on meta builds; AP for APs, AD for ADs, and Kayle and Akali with a dash of Ezreal as largely the tallest 'hybrid' examples and IIRC, even they generally just want to lean into one or the other anyway, usually AP because it's much better for frontal nuking through item builds while AD generally rely on crit mechanics or armor shred to get where they're going and want items that keep them in the fight, stuck to enemies, or just critting.

It died when they zeroed in on build effectiveness and started using reworks, releases and the general state of the game to choke out anything creative. Since, anything good we've seen-- Morde bot lane, proxy Singed to name my favourites-- has been nerfed, decried or simply patched out of relevance. But

That depends who you ask, personally that forced laning phase is a big reason I stopped playing as much. Consistency can be a good thing but too much and it starts to get repetitive and stale.

League is a game that was literally never good

they already started constricting options in S2. When 1-1-2 became meta and riot instead of trying to fight it (they initially did) gave in and accepted it, since this setup would simplify balancing and getting new players in (as new players could easily learn such a system)

They basically make one item or champion good, then immediately the community finds out the next most powerful replacement. They still only have one map and the games play out exactly the same each time because they enforced their esports meta so hard.

For me league went to shit with all the reworks, also, they have always excluded some "hybrid" builds or "troll" metas

Besides all the balance problems,the thing that forced me to play less is the inentional ruining of games in rankeds and escaping unpinished.

It legit never gets better! I was D1/Master on EuW and while the retarted players die out,you legit have people that intentional ruin games or hardtroll.
It is even worse,since the playerpool is extrenly small in high elo.So when 1 incel is having his autistic tandrum you see him in your next game and he does it again.
You can legit int/troll games and won't get banned unless you do it like 5-10 times.
It is just so disgusting and frustrating,I have seen countless accounts over the years not banned.
Even abonded accounts with shit winrates,that are solely there for trolling take ages/or won't get banned.
The experience would be 10 times better,if they actually permaban inters/trollers from playing rankeds atleast.
