REmake is the classic that made me get a Gamecube. Luigi's shitty Mansion was a bad launch title game that made me cry after I beat it (thank god it was a rental)

No, but it's a strong indication that there was something truly special there that not only warranted its initial game but also further exploration of its concepts, ergo it being "a classic"
