It's superior to Alan Wake in every aspect but controls.

It really has nothing in common with Heavy Rain. You can't compare them.

I enjoy the camp quality of Premonition but it's not really a "good" story

Well, I compare it to Heavy Rain in the way that both came out in 2010 and both have a mysterious serial killer and somebody investigating said killings.

The framerate is admittedly shit, but I loved touches like gas stations actually having a use in the game, unlike in bigger productions like the GTA series. And every substory feels like it draws me closer into the world by letting me know more about this little town and its people.

In general Deadly Premonition showed me that small towns can be far more effective of a setting than sprawling cities like Los Santos.

Comfy game. Would love a remaster / sequel.

>remaster
Already kinda happened with Director's Cut edition. Console versions are ok, PC version is abysmal.
>sequel
Isn't SWERY temporarily retired from industry?

Last time i heard he’s making a indie game also has his own game company.

Huh? Last time I'ce heard of him it was cancellation of D4 and his retirement due to health issues.
Guess I should google what he's up to nowadays.

I like how you can take a peak at windows

You missed a lot of things man.

I played Director's Cut on the PS3, the frame rate was garbage.

Alright, just googled it.
Gonna try out The Missing today. The Good Life seems to be an interesting shit too.

a remaster of the Director's Cut with 60 fps would be a god send.

BTW I wonder if anyone's ever showed David Lynch this game.

This. I fucking enjoyed it, but I swear I kept feeling like my ps3 would explode anytime I did literally anyhing.

>PC version is abysmal
It's the definitive version post-patch.

I miss these quirky nip games from the PS/1/2/3 eras. Still haven't gotten over the OG Xbox port of Rent-A-Hero being cancelled after being fully completed. Called Electronics Boutique every single week in 2003 to ask for a release date.

At least we still have occasional gems like Danganronpa or Yakuza. But yeah I wish devs were more experimental still.

>cancelled after being fully completed
Disgusting. Why are game publishers literally evil?

Haha, yeah, those good old days. A shame such games don't exist.

based. Thank you OP

I mean, I'd much rather play Deadly Premonition than Heavy Rain or Alan Wake, and it is my favourite game of all time, but you have to be fucking delusional to claim that it's better than those other games in every possible way.

Like Deadly Premonition was, for all intents and purposes, a big production with an open world and okayish graphics (though horrible framerate), Nowadays game development has become too costly and most out-there ideas and quirky shit comes mostly from platformers or visual novels. They're not really big games with decent production value. It's a damn shame. I guess we can be happy we're getting games like Judgment, Shenmue 3 and FotNS: Lost Paradise.

Zero Escape is another example of a small visual novel somehow gaining enough of a following internationally to warrant sequels. But a Deadly Premonition sequel? Highly unlikely. It's too costly to make with too little a following.

Jim Sterling gave this game a 10/10 on destuctoid, because of course he did. And I love him for it.
