Hmm... Not sure. First idea that comes to mind is maybe something influenced by the Greek myths? Similar weapon set so the mechanics can slot in easily. Plus tons of monsters, creatures, gods and their associated stories to mine for story.

While GRRM's involvement is the reason why I will never bother with Elden Ring, it's not due to my personal opinion about his books or TV shows because I've never read or watched either.
Martin's involvement being Elden Ring's main selling point means that the game is aiming towards a mainstream audience and therefore it will be lacking on the gameplay department.

It's kinda disappointing that Elden Ring is going to be yet another western medieval fantasy whatever. Also open world, so it will probably have level scaling and randomized loot.

Bloodborne and Sekiro were a breath of fresh air, they should really do another game in an original setting.

The other dead give away is Bandai Namco. DS1 is a wondrously flawed masterpiece and it was dumb as hell seeing how disappointing both sequels ended up.
Hopefully the game’s as ‘open world’ as Shadow of the Colossus, a huge inspiration to Miyazaki, but I’m literally not excited until it’s out or they show off more promising things.

Sekiro is not succesful compared to the Souls games. And if you want to make a well-designed game, you need people to be able play and beat them. Dark Souls had both summoning and overleveling; which contributed to their popularity. Making a very hard game might appeal to some autists, but that wont give it ""mainstream-appeal"".

The way Fromsoft portrays Gods in their games is pretty much exactly Greek and Roman mytho to be begin with (Large number of deities with physical presence, who share the world with people, kinda fuck with mortals and aren't really pure beacons of morality. Faith in a deity isn't really a measurement of one's belief in a god's existence (since all the people in that universe are fully aware of their existence), but more a measurement of their devotion to a particular god's ideals).

So yeh I agree, I always felt that greek and roman mythology would be a perfect fit for a fromsoft game
