FUCK persean niggers, get better ships before asking for my help
Fuck. Give me your broken builds. I'm tired of using Eagles and making a lost from repair, supplies and fuel expenses.
Reminder to put skill points into Industry first, then a bit of Technology
If you put skill points into Combat you are a baby reaching for crutches
Which nodes you usually fill out first?
yeah right
3 in everything but electronic warfare on tech
3 in industrial planning and colony management
3 in fleet logistics and planetary operations
3 in combat endurance, ordnance expertise, defensive systems, helmsmanship, and 1 in evasive action
all other skills are for other builds
How often do markets refresh the ship pool?
>you are a baby reaching for crutches
*Flies over to research station and immediately loots 1m credits with no danger*
Ah yes, balanced.
>have heavy industry in system
>put ships into a custom production queue
>nothing happens
what gives? how do i build ships?
Check the fleet tab and go to "storage" in the upper right corner
Did you actually press confirm
Ships get finished when the month ends or when you reach the production goal for that ship, ie a ship that costs 350k will take 2 months if your production is only 200k
It also gets put into storage of the planet shown in the upper left
yes, i did press confirm, everything else gets produced but not ships
they're not there and they don't disappear from the build queue. they just don't get made.
early skillbuild that's jsut the best no contest:
1. max salvage skill
2. max fuel consumption/speed skill
3. max supply consumption skill
4. max ship recovery chance skill
5. max fleet flux/ordinance points skill
>get colony at this point
6. max self-administered colony income/production skill
7. max colony stability skill
8. max whatever the fuck you want the rest doesn't even matter
Reminder not to give your AI-controlled carriers piranhas
Those fucks keep bombing my engines out
>Hegaymony will send 20 Onslaughts across half the sector to inspect your remote colony for AI usage
>but they can't be assed to check an abandoned station right in one of their sectors
Heh, better luck catching my ai cores next time, hegeniggers
>crutches
Salvaging is by far the biggest crutch, it can completely trivialize the early game. And I love it
>check trikike military station
>the only military ship they're selling is a frigate with 3 d-mods
Hypervelocity Drivers or Heavy Autocannons for Hammerheads? I'm running with cannons for some close range fire support right now but they seem kind of underwhelming
Combat first chads ww@
Both Combat and Industry are optional.
Light Needlers and Maulers
Now that's what I call a hammerhead.
if your character already has all the skills needed for a colony, then what do you use your alpha ai cores for? orbital works?
>find an overslaught blueprint while exploring the far reaches of space
>put it into my inventory
>game crashes
>last save was almost an hour ago
time to take the autosave pill
>colony skills
just get a fucking ai idiot
Safety overdrive
2x assault chain guns
2x rail guns
2x pd lasers
Enjoy raping everything within seconds all the way until you start running into capitals, hammerhead is best waifu.
Which faction mods are balanced?I wanna add some to my next playthrough but dont want any broken ones
At the start of the game when you salvage a bunch of ships, should you sell some of them to have a lower maintenance fleet? Also how do you know when a weapon is good, I tried putting the starter weapons on the ships in a logical way but it doesnt really seem to give me a decent powerbase
Fuck off, I need Helsmanship to go fast.
just avoid Dasshit, its incredibly unbalanced
Selling salvaged ships is almost never worth it, except when they are in pristine condition. The ai is like a used car salesman that will give you 100 dollars for a slightly damaged destroyer. If you don't plan to use them, breaking derelics down for salvage is almost always the better option
Alpha cores are super good on spaceports and military bases, and whatever industry you want more production in. Spaceports get 20% more accessibility which is great, and military bases get 25% larger fleets.
Orbital works benefit a bit from the +1 production but I wouldnt make it a priority, you make a lot of money without it regardless
How do I increase my maximum deploy costs effectively without buying 500 mudskippers?
can confirm, i started playing dassault and i'm pretty much wrecking shit with a pure carrier fleet.
Diable avionics
Blackrock drive yards
Hazard mining incorporated
Underworld
Kadur remnant
Interstellar imperium
And finally and most likely the most OP one from my experience, neutrino corps, but it's not TOO bad, their ships are pretty cool.
are you too poor
it requires dollars to do this
i got milions
i just added a drone tender for shits and it gets built, but a seraph battlecarrier doesn't, it's also below the monthly capacity. i think something just broke.
>seraph
Maybe it's about mod ships? Try building a paragon or onslaught or something
Destroyers and carriers.
Diable
Blackrock
Imperium
The fleets are balanced, but blackrock and imperium have some dumb imbalanced shit fucking planets/stations.
Gives you something to do endgame though.
Why the fuck do %90 of the mods put like triple the fleets of vanilla coreworlds to their planets? That's fucking dumb
Is the game too easy?
That's how it should be. Especially Hegemony and Perseans should have way stronger fleets protecting their home systems
Not that user but good luck smuggling a single syringe of space dope
Where to get the keygen?
Maybe so but it isnt the case and sticks like a sore thumb
Never put any points into industry.
Buy it you cheap retard
There's a key at the end of Sseth's review
Thanks, mate.
I'm borderline homeless. I'll buy it when I can.
>I'm borderline homeless. I'll buy it when I can.
Then DON'T buy it man and use your money for something useful.
>wanna do redplanets
>Hegnogs, Impcuks and perkeks keep invading
If I bomb/invade system after system after system will they stop giving me shit? Hegemony is the biggest player around the block after Imperium and I cant bribe them because every fucking fleet is 1 mil
my god
high intensity laser absolutely fucks anything it touches
except any ship equipped with a shield
Does anybody have a picture of a good modlist? I've got some rich colonies now but I've basically run out of things to do vanilla. These are the ones I've heard about already.
Faster Ships
Combat Analytics
Nexerin (presumably spelled wrong)
Build/Rebuild
Blackrock
Diable
I'm looking for more content, and general QOL stuff, any recommendations beyond those?
Get both chatters, all libs, sound/music mods and backgrounds
can't really figure out what to do or where to go after the initial tutorial other than explore some nearby planets.
>can't really figure out what to do or where to go
boy skyrim really ruined people huh
What's libs, user?
>massive pirate invasion of luddic church system
>make like 200k credits just on frigate bounties
thanks space jesus
>Installed a ton of ship packs and more rpg-ish story/mission stuff
>Added a ton of factions
>Made some supership mod for myself
>go around being a mecha anime MC and beating badguys with a single ship
I'm too autistic for this game.
show the fucking ship
Libraries.
How the hell are you supposed to make money on these bounties?! A fucking pirate fleet with like 7 Atlas capitals and their 20 support ships? How in the fuck am I supposed to wipe those guys without either getting my fleet mulched or having to build one so large that supply logistics murder the profit?!
Youre not, get colonies or trade
It better be the Yamato or the Arcadia.
Get these
Arsenal expansion
Blackrock drive yards
Combat chatter
Combat analytics
Nexerin
Neutrino
Diable avionics
Dissassemble reassemble
ships and weapons pack
Hazard mining incorporated
Unknown skies
Underworld
Speedup
Vayra's sector
Vayra's ship pack
Kadur Remnant
Luddic enhancement
SkilledUp
Toggleweapon groups
Neutrino corp
Starship legends
Combat chatter
Interstellar Imperium
And there you have it, you just upgraded your game, you can expand on this with more faction mods that you like but these are basically THE go to mods.
>arsenal expansion
already a terrible list
Why?
>grind up relations with pirates prior to making a colony
>sit at 3 relation with them before giving them my high value prisoners from Luddite bases to get it up to 38
>now Pirate Activity means shit and my colonies thrive stronger than ever
I have tamed the storm,
Should I sell them some blueprints?
I spend way too much supplies trying to do anything.
Is there a way to spend less or something?
I get 150k credits and spend 120k every single time.
Ugly and overpowered.
Can I just use autopilot to get through the entirety of this game? Seems to work better than manual control.
>Ugly
That's the point
>Overpowered
How?
Just try to get into combat, it gets much better when it just ''clicks'' and is much more useful but yeah, you can just autopilot too if you want to
>ugly sprites is the point
???
The combat and specifically missile/PD gameplay has to be overhauled. Currently even the best PD has about 750 range which is 200-300r smaller than midsizes ballistics. There is practically no strategic aspect in the PD role due to how ranged requirements and friendly blocking makes organized resistance useless.
Ideal scenario would be smaller, less important ships protecting carrier in the middle like in the real world. It just doesnt happen even though missile spam is immense in bigger battles. You would think a good PD is a good investment but it isnt, its just personal protection and dimishing general capability of the fleet. Youre better off with a carrier instead that has fighters destroying missiles. Its ironic, a single carrier has better protection against missiles than a gunship with loads of dakka.
They really should up the range of PDs, make their ammunition fly over like fighters and take out missile blocking as well
downsize your fleet
amass funds
colonize something
this gives you a passive income source to fund further endeavours
I don't feel like they are unbalanced. My last two campaigns Diable Avionics and Hegemony captured almost all their system.
Fighting their average sized fleet didn't feel too hard. You just need a way to deal with small fighters and rockets with enough PD.
The idea of starsector revolves around factions having to make do with what they have due to the difficulity of creating new shit which results in makeshift and ugly looking ships quite often which is why the ships it adds fit in perfectly, not all sprites need to look like some symmetrical alien shit with perfect design.
Too shy to show it off but it's the arcadia from captain harlock. I made with sprite parts kitbashed from the ship packs
Now that I learned so basic shit I will try to make the macross with it's main laser canon and a shitload of little mecha missile spamming ships from it's hangars
And there are good examples of this in vanilla, such as the Condor. Just because it's an "ugly" jury-rigged, ship, doesn't mean it has to look ugly. The designs in Arsenal Expansion are just bad looking.
Well, that's like your opinion man.
alright, i need some info and i can't find it anywhere: first, can i make a colony if i'm in commission? i just did this and it seems i can, but i'd like to know if it works, second, if i make my colony in a sector already claimed will someone come slap my shit? as in can i pay them to fuck off or they will destroy my colony no questions asked?
found an odyssey with a minor (D) mod
worth salvaging? are they any good?
People complain about this and that being overpowered but having tried out most of the mods I could find it has been hard to find any ships that significantly outperform other ships with higher deployment cost. It's usually the case where each faction has one of two good ships while the performance of all ships in that faction averages out. Only real overpowered factions that I've seen have been Remnants and Cabal
>Why yes, I think the word bearers are the best faction in warhammer 40k, how could you tell?
>"back PD is for pussies lol FRONT TOWARDS ENEMY"
>get fucking reamed by Salamanders over and over
Your Primarch is only the best in being fuckboi of Chaos
The Odyssey always becomes my flagship in vanilla games. Fast and decently armed. It's also fun to ram ships with the plasma drive.
You mean
>PD is for pussies
Get some fighter coverage. If half of your fleet isnt carriers youre doing it wrong
>not even the best chaos legion
World Eaters Gloriana class battleships when
Do you need to start a new playthrough for mods like the ship and weapon pack to take effect?
I'm not finding any of the new ships in stores
Wait until the market resets
Iirc, the only thing you need to start a new game for is star systems. I could be wrong
>when you're such a spacejew that you sell 90% of your supplies at a station with a deficit, so now you barely have enough to get to the next closest station
>not doing this but keeping just enough for you to reach a market with heavy industry
I once sold so much fuel I had to drift the last lightyear to Naraka
I DON'T UNDERSTAND COMBAT HELP
make a general already you dumb fucks
>no Raging Abyss mega dreadnought
Cringe and Girlyman-pilled
Is it even possible to code a subsystem like the Conqueror's Ursus Claws?
For those who are not familiar, the Ursus Claws are a bunch of massive harpoons that impaled ships and pulled them right into the ship that fired them
well i'll be damned.
duzahk coming through on this one
>poor farmlands
into the trash
>Ursas claws
>Large missile
>Above average range
>Long reload
>Works on unshielded targets or if impact overloads
user that would be amazing
there is a general, and it has existed for a while
How's the custom Portrait Pack coming along user?
what's the point of farms anyway.
Am I autistic for thinking that your first colony NEEDS to have farmland?
>pollack posting outside /pol/
What settings do I need to change in Starship Legends so it's not randomly throwing out the bad shit so much?
>can i make a colony if i'm in commission
You can, your faction is basically a vassal as you get dragged into any war of your commission faction.
>if i make my colony in a sector already claimed will someone come slap my shit
Yes, they will rape your colony. You cant pay them off.
Obsessed
No, my headcanon is always that we need to prevent a situation where we are dependent on goods from off world, seeing as how that’s how the collapse happened, but on a much larger scale
I'm bored of the middle systems being pre-made, is there a way to randomize it?
overworld strength =/= in-battle strength, the auto-resolve function does not take into account special abilities that would increase effectiveness so even massively OP factions can be taken out by vanilla ones if they're based on enhancements the auto-resolve doesn't see
>destroying Hegemony with Appro ships
>made friends with pirates because colony trade stability
>going to attack Eventide, their core world
>Get into the system and try to juke the patrols guarding it so that I can take the Orbital with as few distractions as possible
>Suddenly pirates
>A lot of fucking pirates
>They're here to help
>Distract all the big patrols long enough that I take Eventide AND the other one as well
And that is why I made an Alliance with Pirates and sell them blueprints of all the good stuff I gathered up. Including Approlight ship packs
Nexerelin
Rate the content expansion mods please. I've only ever used Ship & Weapon pack which is a 10/10, how are arsenal expansion/disassemble reassemble/stopgap measure/luddic enhancement?
Do any of those make good additions that aren't lazy reskins or pure bloatware nearly-identical-to-vanilla ships?
Anyone got a good one with all females being busty Onee-sans and all males being cute shotas?
wait wait
vanilla?
let me know how you boosted relations so easily. I want to boost relations with ALL factions if possible
thanks
Make a colony and you won't have losses
>get your comfy system going
>see friendly patrols everywhere with 2 capitals and 6 carriers, all in pristine condition
>meanwhile your own fleet is 3 destroyers + frigates + a salvaged Legion with 3 D-mods
This just feels wrong. They can pump out 15 capital ships every months for patrols, but if their dear leader wants a single pimped out ship for personal use I have to wait for 3 months and lose 2 months worth of income.
>Yes, they will rape your colony. You cant pay them off.
does this count if i do it in a system of the faction i'm commissioned with?
Arsenal expansion is great, stop gap measure isn’t terrible but it’s not very good either, it’s ok if you like junk ships
Pirate link where
Why are there metric tonnes of friendly mercenaries, bounty hunters and prospectors all over my system defending me from a pirate raid? Is it because I'm 100/100 with independents, or does everyone get this treatment?
High value prisoners is from nex, they can be turned in at every port for rep or money
>arsenal expansion
meh
>disassemble
great
>stopgap
meh
>luddic enhancement
redundant
also pick up underworld
and if you're not looking for vanilla friendly content, then why are you exclusively looking at mods that are supposed to blend in with vanilla content?
They will leave yor colony alone as long as you are comissioned by them, but the second you leave they will glass it as usual.
ugh, so modded? Any way to do it on vanilla? But thanks.
fuck hagajewmony and their 20 legion and 20 onslaught fleets
it's time to learn to love the bomb
tho colonies are doing great
>50%+ market share on fuel and rare metals and other goods
>why are bounty hunters doing their fucking job
Gee, I wonder.
You probably settled a system with lots of domain leftovers
>Be friendly with pirates
>They still raid the system and cause stability and trade loss
Why are you playing vanilla
Yeah, sorry, I did it in Nex, vanilla your best bet is just doing odd jobs for them until they like you enough. Which is fucking brutal until you can get a fleet powerful enough for them to mostly avoid you.
you're friendly with SOME pirates :)
I guess. That sorta sucks, I should probably try some mods eventually but so far I'm having fun with vanilla. It'd be cool to be in with the pirates though. But thank you
What is the max amount of heavy machinery needed for survey? Is it 500?
AI cores, but only start giving them until you have solid rep base as most actions don’t give positive rep after like 50+
>ugh, so modded?
Go back to whatever shithole you crawled out of, zoomer.
>zoomer
Back at you, normalfag
Liar
It gets worse once you start doing that
I've noticed Nex tends to start counter-invasions once you try taking over some planets, plus additional raids for being hostile
Just try to focus down one faction as quickly as possible and give away the planets to a benign faction like independents or pirates so you don't have to defend them and they can't take it back
I got you lad
Paragon, quad Tachyon lances. Hardened shields and optics hullmod. Throw some burst PD lasers on the small beam slots.
You've just won the game. This ship has the longest range in the game for direct damage and instakills almost every ship up to cruisers. Most cruisers/carriers will die in 2. Will also dumpster every capital ship except another paragon.
If you've got some other ships with Gauss guns for hard flux, it becomes even more overpowered.
I can't go back to the other ships anymore, this setup is too strong by comparison.
OK, thanks.
I much prefer to play a game as it was meant to be, before getting into it modded. I only have some 20-hours in Starsector and I still have plenty to do.
>why are you playing the experience the developers intended
t. trijew
Filthy Luddites, when will you ever learn
Because it's still the best experience Starsector has to offer?
Is it possible to write text on the map to mark off locations of interest?
>stranded in a system
>call for help
>1st to show up is pathers, try to kill me
>2nd to show up is persian league(hostile) try to kill me
>3rd to show up is pirates, try to kill me
SEND HELP
To add to this, they do still chase off indies and other factions. Pirates arent exactly known throughout the sector for playing nice.
no, use pen and paper
Mixed messages on the Arsenal Expansion which is the main one I'm looking at here.
>and if you're not looking for vanilla friendly content, then why are you exclusively looking at mods that are supposed to blend in with vanilla content?
I'm looking for two things: relatively balanced ships and sprites that don't look completely out of place since these are all additions to vanilla factions. I'm already running like 10 other faction mods, I'd just like to see more variety among the vanilla factions since I've played this game countless times over the past 4 years and know every default ship by heart.
nigger does it look like i can write
Might be a newer thing in 9.1a because before that in .9 whatever they were causing problems.
>Atlas
hahahahahah
wait until you try to fight the high tech bounty fleets with 90% phase ships, 3 paragons, 3 astrals and a dozen dooms
>Pirates are bullying the mercenaries hired to protect my colonies
>all the while protecting me
Is this what having a yandere faction feels like?
wait you can hire mercs?
vanilla or modded?
the only nigger here is you, user
>Arsenal Expansion
It's well balanced and is close to the original style (because it's kitbashed), it's just that some ships are INCREDIBLY ugly, unlike Ships/Weapons pack where the quality is consistent.
No, the colony hires them automatically.
oh. haven't seen any of those, do I need a specific industry or building?
>have drover as escort carrier for my flagship in every battle
>it sends its fighters off to the other side of the map to chase a wolf
>get free fuel 3 times in a row
>still not out of that system
git fucking gud
Is Ironmode a bad idea for my first game?
you see, i could not kill them, also, 4th time pirates again
yes
its buggy
Does this seem reasonable for a first colony? Hazard rating seems a bit high but its in a convenient spot.
>IV
nah
What are you idiots smoking?
?
There is no point in enabling such a feature when you can just not savescum in the first place.
I'd recommend not doing it anyway unless your entire fleet gets destroyed. That's personally how I play. This way you'll get accustomed to the fact that sometimes you'll lose ships and you just have to deal with that, instead of reloading the quick save you just made before the fight and repeating it until you get through it without losses. That's no fun.
>Trace rare
>Poor farm
>Common ore, organics
>Minor ruins
>175
I'd pass it. A first planet needs to have a low hazard rating or ultra rich resources. Basically class V, not IV like that one.
>5th time it's 3 pirate fleets
not funny anymore
atlas's have less durability than most cruisers and are gigantic slow targets, carriers take care of them very quickly but anything else capable of firing constantly can also do it
the only threat from pirate fleets is if you use safety override and having your ships fall apart while obliterating their's
How come invasion fleets are so cheap in Nexerelin? A full-fledged fleet complete with like five capital ships costs me as much as one single hull of the same capital ship. It makes invasion pretty much trivial as I would just order a shitton of hugeass fleets with minimum marines and then just follow them with my mudskipper armada carrying five thousand marines to take care of the actual invasion. The sector is at my mercy at this point, and I only have three planets of size 5 each.
You niggers said it was balanced, you lying cunts.
i made it out, i just had to renounce my commission the moment the second hostile persian ship showed up, i litterally never had it this bad with calls
I hope you learned your lesson
it's balanced around the player not using that feature :^)
What should I get if I want to use two Uhlan Siege cannons? I've only tried it on some cruiser from Anarakis but the flux buildup was absolutely crazy.
man the AI is 10x better than me at fights and I have like 30 hours in this game
sucks
New update when?
Next summer, probably
Yeah the pricing mechanic for that sucks, it's only expensive if you buy the marines which like you said isn't necessary.
It should be the opposite, where marines are additional cost and fleet size is multiplicative
The AI uses math to decide what fights to and which to skip.
They also don’t take stupid risks, which is why my ship is usually the only damaged one after a fight
Some modded ships cant be build unless you modify the faction or ship json files in the faction file folder. It only happens if you gave yourself a blueprint for a ship that nobody has access to like the unsung ship from neutrino corps.
>get a waystation
>it sells me supplies for 100 and fuel for 25
That's literally more expensive than buying from other factions, what's the fucking point?
Wish they didnt have magic premonitions, like always knowing which weapon you have switched to, including what your AI did etc. at all times and respond accordingly
I just want the AI to act a bit more human unless we're talking about in-game AI, then they get a pass
Are there good lategame frigates that aren't high-tech? Most of my fleet is midline, having tempests and omens kinda ruins the look.
How do you boost combat rating over 70%?
Yeah, the AI turning shields up for precisely one millisecond because it knows tanking a torpedo will leave it with exactly 10 spare flux capacity really fucking grinds my gears. At least friendly AI does that as well.
What the fuck is this new
Skills
>Fuck-ton of pirate fleets on LC system
>No bounty posted
>Sell my shit and fuck off immediately
Fuck that shit
oh, is it the red tree line only? What about for my other ships? Captains?
But thanks
>tfw only DickCats has purple accented ships that aren't expensive to maintain Cabal
I love the look so much and they have solar shielding built in but I can't really choose which to actually use.
Nigger just fucking read the skills, are you illiterate?Check the other trees too
I just got the game and don't know shit about it yet, should I sell alpha AI cores or hold onto them. I know there super useful later but I just started and if I get scanned won't it be taken as contraband?
>get apprehended by pirates
>try to flee
>dont understand whats going on
>finally my last ship is about to cross the border of the map
>then suddenly a message pops up that I killed the pirates
Im really bad at this
sorry no hablo engles
Extra 15% for your entire fleet from a leadership skill, another 15% for one ship from a combat skill (also available on officers).
Just found this, seems like it fits the bill. Its way on the outer reaches, but at least it isn't crawling with giant enemy fleets.
thanks fren
You can stash them away on the abandoned terraforming platform in Corvus and other similar derelicts. It's perfectly safe, nobody will take your shit from there. If you decide to sell, officially turn them in to Tri-tech officials, they pay the most by far.
It's shit.
you do realize you can store items at stations?
>200% hazard, 21% accessibility
you will not make any money if you put a colony there
should I live here?
Do you folks think this game is worth the $15 they ask for?
Do you folks think it will eventually be worth the $60 they will ask for?
You basically never get scanned unless you're already suspicious from blackmarket trades
Lol this dude never been in hege money money dollar space
The survey level overvalues ruins. This is probably considered tier 5, but it's actually utter shit.
You need a system with TWO good planets. ne with very low hazard for your high-upkeep industries (military base, orbital works, fuel production), another with good resources regardless of hazard (ideally a cryovulcanic world with ore, rare ore and volatiles all at once). Having 2 planets in one system also means they can defend from raids on their own once you build them patrol HQs.
been scanned with ai cores, never changed anything
just sell 'em to the tri-tach, they'll give a shitload of money (300%). Talk to a base commander.
Yeah, why not? a few mods have weapons that push/pull enemy ships
how high is the accessibility
well how the fug am i supposed to find a decent planet? this whole universe is fucked
I once had a scan actually fine my AI cores, seems like the odds of finding contraband is based on the % of your total cargo it takes up
Sine AI cores are all single units they have an exceptionally low chance of being found
>de-civilized population
I mean I give Growth Incentives if that means anything. Or it could be Nex feature
Not terrible, not great
Good enough to start without any problems, go for it
>accessibility
Doesn't really matter. Megaport gives +80%, waystation +10%, free port another +25%, administrator another +30%, alpha cores another +20%. And then you also get more for having a large colony. You can colonize anywhere you want and have over 100% easily.
thanks!
Get the sensor upgrades. Stay stationary in asteroid belts to be almost undetectable. Don't fly 100 mudskippers with a sensor profile of 1000 as your smuggling fleet.
It's still a boost no matter what and it matters a lot when you are just starting out
Pirates and stuff will still lower his accessibility early on
>pretty sure i've surveyed most yellow and orange star systems
>still no good system to colonize
am sad
Time to head into REDACTED space, unless you mean the warning beacon colors.
>put skill points into Industry
>ever
I wonder who's behind this post.
whats the point of tech mining?
That isn't even the greatest sin. Nearly every imperium world or market has 20k+ ground defenses because they have 5-6 alpha cores per planet.
Their capital even has a planetary shield. Ensures that unless you are playing with a random gen sector, their worlds never have to fear a raid or an invasion since nothing the game generates can bust their worlds open.
Anyone have a good time with random core worlds with nex?
Just dumping a colony on a world with ruins you don't intend to keep, mine it out and abandon. You are basically paying ~210k for a bunch of blueprints and a chance to get cores and forges.
Hmmm... I'd say $15 seems acceptable if you are really into the genre
>bunch of blueprints and a chance to get cores and forges.
you mean like 1-2 shitty blueprints and a corrputed nanoforge. Tech Mining is a fucking meme even with vast ruins
>you mean like 1-2 shitty blueprints
It gives you blueprints you don't know yet. If you have found all the good stuff on your own you will get shit. You can game the system by intentionally not learning a capital ship blueprint to get duplicates for sale.
Underworld says it needs a different mod to be balanced but that mod isnt updated at all, is it still ok?Should I touch the settings file it comes with?
r u stupid
>mfw seeing an assault carrier fire its missiles for the first time
Holy fuck.
Also if you install mods do you have to start a new game or will they fit over your current? I've reached the point in vanilla where I'm not encountering new ships and now have a fleet full of assault and carrier battleships so the lack of ship variety has me bummed but I'd like to see my fledgling colony flourish.
What happens after I make heavy industry? Does my colony just start randomly making ships provided I feed it heavy machinery and stuff?
Is there a mod that reduces the amount of hyperstorms without removing them completely?
>Underworld says it needs a different mod to be balanced
???
>Without certain features added by DynaSector, significantly more gear is possible to salvage than is actually intended, which can negatively impact balance and your enjoyment of the game. If you don't like certain changes introduced by DynaSector, (nearly) all of them can be turned off in DYNASECTOR_OPTIONS.ini.
don't worry about it.
Are there tariffs? If not, it's pretty convenient to just be able to get fuel and supplies without having to smuggle.
Tarrifs?
You don't feed your colony materials, they find them on their own by trading with other factions. They also sell their ships to other factions and give you money. And it improves the quality of your patrol fleets. You can go into command tab and custom order any ship you have blueprints for, but it will still cost you money (less than buying from factions) and you'll have to wait a month or two.
That's nice an all, but you can get all that ON TOP of an already decent accessibility if you managed to find a planet like that.
Think you have to queue what you want built off the blueprints you have.
You need a new game for everything except:
New Potrait Packs
Gladiator Society
Utility mods (faster combat button)
Is there a guide for downloads and modding?
on the forums
>download mod
>put it in mod folder
>enable mod in launcher
>done
literally could not be easier
splurge for the burn drive too so you aren't chasing pirate kites in your colony sector around like a fat fuck.
files.catbox.moe
Porn Potrait pack mod
Thanks
Who cares dynasector is garbage anyway lmao
>Everyone hates me
>Cant invade because no admins
>Take stability hit or get raided
Should I just saturate them?
Salvage baby reporting in.
yes
MULTIPLAYER WHEN?!!??!?!?!?
hopefully never. It just won't work with current mechanics like phase ships that distort time.
fuck off zoomer
How do I kill large remnant stacks
Much obliged
Shoot with boolet
slowly
or full charge
help
Or take over and abandon if they're small, if they're big and better, abandon your small ones. And if you have too many, time to break out the digital waifus
1. Bring many guns that go pew
2. Shoot at them until they die
3. ???
4. Profit
>pew
So close yet so far.
Use ballistics and missiles.
The answer to the highest tech is the lowest tech
no fighter or bomber only gun?
yikes
HOW THE FUCK DO I GET RID OF RECENT UNREST?
>hurr use stabilize
already used both of 'em
wait 3 months
Also
Hegemony > All
t. Omega
Depends. If the fighters have guns they're okay.
>HOW THE FUCK DO I GET RID OF RECENT UNREST?
You wait 3 months. It literally says it right there on your picture, you dumb nigger. Do a better job repelling raids next time.
it adds another negative tho, it goes to -2
>Hegecucky
Fuck off filthy Luddite scum
High tech best tech
Alpha cores are our friends and waifus
Can you still remove the cd key check
>Onslaught vs Paragon
I have AI cores in literally every industry in all 4 of my colonies. When are hegecucks going to show up? I want my free Onslaughts and Legions. Or do they only care about administrators?
No they care about those too, but check how big they are and if they're at war with anyone.
>being a low-tech subhuman
>being a sissy ass high-tech
>not being a midline chad
I would pay hot cash for a mod that made the map round and not fucking rectangular
>check how big they are
I'm playing without Nex, they are the same size as always.
>if they're at war with anyone
Naturally. The niggers are ALWAYS at war with at least one faction.
Any mandatory mods, mostly interested in quality of life things; not total conversions or mods which add a bunch of mechanics etc when I don't really understand the base game yet.
Fuck Penis Inspection Day
Just don't use AIs 4Head
Then they're probably too busy with the war to go out for penis inspections. And Nex doesn't change their size iirc. Just makes diplomacy a lot more... dynamic
nice cat, alfie
>high gravity
How the sector generator fucks up an otherwise comfy earth-like world
Lots of kintetic bombers.
Ignore ruthless sector, also the portraits are optional, APP is the least vanilla friendly and at the very least you should check through it and delete ones you dont want if you do use it.
:(
>have AI cores in most industries
Nobody cares.
>have 2 orbital works with pristine forges
Nobody cares.
>taken over the fuel monopoly
Nobody cares.
>make my size 3 mining colony a free port
Hegemony, Diktat, Perseans and Luddic Church ALL send expeditions citing the port as their reason.
wait, free ports cause attacks?
At least Hege raids you only because of free ports and AIs while Sindricucks and Persefags raid you because they're jelly of your superior market share and Luddic Path is butthurt because tech and industry.
Yes. In vanilla at least. They basically say you facilitate black market trade and piracy, and try to disrupt your spaceport.
YIKES
so that's what caused the attacks, thanks. I have to have free port on though otherwise I don't have enough resources for maintaining anything
Even with Nexerelin on all of the hegecucks have raided me for is cause I have freeports on.
>so that's what caused the attacks, thanks
If you go to intel tab and read the description of an enemy expedition, it tells you the reason. They CAN get mad over high market shares as well.
>They basically say you facilitate black market trade and piracy
>when they do the exact same thing with their own colonies
They're just begging for a saturation bombing.
How to enable colony growth for AI?
So when do remnants actually do... anything? I'm at the point where I have a fleet of capital ships and I've never seen anything from remnants other than eyeballing my fleet as I go through some systems.
>So when do remnants actually do... anything?
When you are weaker than them. They have the same behaviour as other fleets - they attack you if you are weaker, they run away if you are stronger.
>.moe
that's a no from me dawg
Invade, then hand the planet over to the faction that likes you. Independents, pirates and pathers aren't affected by the bullshit diplomacy system, so if they like you, they'll never not like you, and you can just take the planets back when you're ready.
I've decided, the music in this game blows.
I'm going full pirate next play through.
you kidding?
catbox.moe is legit
yeah its pretty shit
i disable it and listen to podcasts
but i am making so much money from drugs and organs
Is it possible to raid planets without destroying the orbital station? The description says only a "quick" raid is possible, what does it mean?
Can you work for a faction and found colonies and stations in their name?
Why is the Hammerhead so bad aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Yes. They will even be kind and generous and not raid/bombard "your" colony just for being marginally profitable.
have you tried not being shit?
>diable avionics
>micro missile arrays mounted as standard with infinite ammo
Fair and balanced. It's somehow worse than Dassault where every single carrier has free missiles.
How do you go about smuggling when you start out, what's the best way to kick things off?
Because it's a fucking destroyer. Just get a pair of cruisers and 20 frigates.
What do you think about this color variation for the Coalition mod?
It's slow and sluggish
make it purple and green
Cool, im going to do that, because the alternative looks like it kinda sucks.
no idea
never smuggled
my ports just started making drugs after having free ports
Light industry makes a lot of drugs if it's on a free port. Big (5+) colonies make a little drugs by default, but not enough to cover even their own demands.
I read that you can remove the decivilized trait by taking the colony, abandoning it and then recolonizing it
not a fan of purple but there you go
thanks, doc
i feel so stupid now
Micro missiles are currently garbage for the most part. They only exist to keep enemy PD busy.
The wanzers are fucking busted though. A Frost can weaboo itself straight through shields and hit every single part of the hull.
>tfw watching the ai ignore all my orders and leave my flanked capital ship to get ass fucked while their off on the other side of the fucking map chasing some tiny fucking thing
Escort apparently means leave completely alone.
memes aside, this looks kinda nice, But if you want to go with the green and red from here , try too saturate them less...like 50% less.
When will Billysector come back?
Check the tooltips for the sector map settings, there should be a setting that colors most of the nebulas according to their age, you should look for the medium/old nebulas, as those have a better chance at having highly habitable worlds.
Escort straight to hell
I mean, it does change their size. They can actually capture other colonies in Nex, or send out their own colony expeditions.
Why do youtube retards love buying custom or combat freighters for their fleets so much
The general idea is to saturate them more because I hate how desaturated they look.
test
Is there any way to make my faction show up in the intel screen?
Personally they look better now, although they could be saturated just a little bit more but whatever you like its fine.
Mountain dew fleet.
tfw I always name my faction "Those Guys". Oh the messages become hilarious
Thanks doc
>order all my ships to go balls deep on a tri-tach carrier because when it blows its missile load its extremely weak to attacks
>theyre all fucking terrified and hang back to slowly kill the fighters
>need to manually pilot and suicide 3 ships into the goddamn astral
Every month
How do people play with big ships? They are so fucking slow and every battle takes 5 minutes.
I just deploy like a million frigates and hit the full assult button.
lmao it's literally the best destroyer in the game
Apogee or Hammerhead?
Be a good lad and buy it. The guy(s) deserve it.
for what purpose? hammerhead is an amazing destroyer, but the apogee is the best explorer ship.
Is scavenging and exploring better than bounty hunting?
hammerhead is garbage
The highest and shittyest gas planet asked for 350 if I remember correctly
At first yes
Bounties become an easier way of getting money later on, though there are a few shit you get only through exploring that are really important for colonies and are worth a lot so your call
initially yes
Dunno, it feels good on autopilot.
Im having trouble figuring out how to outfit my ships? Do I have both anti shield and anti armor weapons on one ship or do I have one ship totally dedicated to anti shield and another to anti armor?
Tips on builds and knowing what weapons to use in general?
mommypilled
When's the best time to make a colony and what kind of world should I look for? I have about 1 million credits, a synchrotron, pristine nano forge, and some alpha cores in storage I could sell if I need more.
baby here
how many ships should I have on my fleet?
also, any way to avoid those space storms? flying around them takes a long time and flying through eats all my supplies
You have to stop me. I keep adding on to the Atlas.
get solar shielding on every ship
invest in perk for less storm damage
based
fuck those persean mudslimes
Would use in my fleet.
its preferable to load your ships with kinetic rounds that have continuous fire, like the needlers and have few, but powerful HE guns that can punch the enemy's armor hard, like the hellbore cannon.
I want to make a music mod, but I can't find much documentation on how the fuck music and sound modding for this game works. I'm trying to reverse engineer Audio Plus but I'm still a bit confused. Does anybody know anything about this?
I hit the 2x speed button.
Careful with the missiles. It seems like they will collide with the hull.
ARS sprite update when? Shit looks cool.
>Onslaught this
>Onslaught that
>Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught Onslaught
Can you all please talk about other stuff that isn't Onslaught? This is getting so annoying and it's making me angry. Onslaught is so fucking shit and I seriously can't understand how you don't get tired of talking about Onslaught without ever stopping. What about Legion? What about Conquest? WHY ARE YOU IGNORING THE OTHER SHIPS, ITS NOT FAIR. Onslaughtfags are the worst, I hate them and I hate Onslaught. Onslaught a shit. A SHIT.
Should I put Safety Override on my Doom?
Depends on what you want to do and how much money you have. If you are pirate hunting take 1or 2 carriers and fast frigates. If you are bounty hunting bring destroyers. If you are fighting a faction bring all you can get. If you are deep space exploring you need tankers and cargo ships relative for how far you are going and how long you plan to be out for.
You'll learn to fly through them when you learn to spot when a particular area is about to start storming or when a storm is about to end by how the color of the clouds change. Sometimes just stopping your fleet and wait for a path to clear is an option.
B-but user, they are the quintessential ship!
stay mad
Too much?
Any strong builds you can recommend for Eagle-class Cruiser?
Borken crashed the game a bunch for me. Not a very interesting faction either
graviton beams are decent in the med energy slots, allows you to sustain flux building while using your speed to keep distance then close in for the kill with HE ballistic and missiles/torpedoes when their flux is high
apparently theres a point where load times including save times bloats from seconds to 30+ minutes until then its not too much
No
Yeah running three Gravitons atm. What would you suggest I put on the rest?
>new to the game
>play the tutorial
>get to the part where you have to reactivate the jump points
>get raped every single time by the pirates
>after a dozen tries the only way i succeed is by sacrificing one of the ships and making a run for it
>still get fucked after the tutorial is over
amazing "game"
Other than checking how the other mods handle their audio files, check the forums and their discord.
Jesus Christ what did I do to deserve this
how the FUCK do you take down bases? I can btfo all of the piratenigger/ludicucks ships but my entire fleet hammers on the base and does literally no damage. Should I be using the shit like the reaper torpedos that only have one shot?
Flu-X is never gonna be updated and there won't be any other mechanical-biological mixes for a long time. It saddens me because it was cool and made me think of the Beast when Flu-X started taking over systems rather quickly.
Looks like you didn't pay your fucking loan
An eliminate order should make them as crazy as full assault
Oh, yeah. I used it to kickstart my colony which then got promptly invaded by fucking Perseus. Looks like I'm starting over from square one.
Any unclaimed systems near the Core Worlds is a good start. High Access due to proximity with the other factions will generate income on its own. Duzahk and Penelope's Star usually generate decent planets. Explore them, see whichever has the lowest hazards and establish your colony there.
I miss when games would just leave every single sound asset sitting in plainly labelled folders in .wav or .ogg format.
Game looks cool but I might be too low IQ to be able to play it. What's it like?
Uh lads
YO
WHAT IF I WERE TO RESTART 1000000000 TIMES UNTIL I GET A 4-PLANET RED PENELOPE OR DUHZAK WITH A TERRAN IN THERE
Get in there, no fear! Fuck 'em up!
That shit is piss easy, how are you fucking up? Did you not reclaim any derelict ships like the game fucking tells you to
I did and still got fucked
technically they are, for example the interestellar imperium mod has a nice organization of its sound files, the problem are the .jar files.
It's very high IQ
CUT THEM DOWN LIKE CHAFF IN THE WIND
Running three Gravitons atm. What would you suggest I put on the rest?
You're doing SOMETHING wrong. A single Hammerhead and maybe one frigate could take the whole tutorial.
>Neither side trusts you enough to share IFF codes or fight alongside, and you're unable to join the battle from either side.
Whats the best mod for a faction that adds long range artillery type ships? I want to drown the enemies with explosive and kinetic shells from across the map
Go back to the main menu and start with the missions. Play the first one until you win then do that for the next 2. Just gotta do some practice.
Does anyone know if its possible to get a Tachyon Lance blueprint in vanilla? I feel like I've gotten every weapon blueprint but tachyon.
>tfw savescumming because every time I leave a system a 30 ship pirate fleet rushes me and destroys the 6-7 ship fleet I have
I'm just tired of essentially restarting the game over and over.
Download the game and use the warlord's key and find out for yourself.
Post your fleet so I can laugh at how easily you could win against those pirates
It's possible.
Holy Fuck. Why is it the ai gets to field all this shit and I'm lucky if I get to field 4 capitals and a carrier?
yes it's possible, I checked and I have a blueprint
1 capital could wreck that whole fleet if backed up by a couple cruisers desu
just turn off your transponder bro
just sustain burn bro
Turn on your transponder.
>>sit at 3 relation with them before giving them my high value prisoners from Luddite bases to get it up to 38
how do you actually give high value prisoners away? some mod added em but i cant find where to turn em in.
It was already on, I even tried turning it off as well as going dark
Dispute was between pirates and [REDACTED], both of which I'm more than -60/100 with
>come back from red planet mission with barely enough supplies and fuel to make it to populated systems
>turn on transponder as I enter nearest jump point to a system with at least something to get supplies from
>pirate Fuck fleet is waiting right at the jump as I enter in
>lose a capital ship when I just managed to take down red planet with minimal loss
At least all the blue prints and tech I got made up for it.
>didn't know selling blueprints on black market was no bueno
I-i'm sure all those battleship blueprints won't be a problem right? Haha.
>on my way to Space Isis base with 3 paragons
>intercepted by the bulk of their forces when I'm closing in on their base
>"Halt, Infidel! Pay 23k credits and we'll let you go!"
>credits in the millions
>lol okay
>pay tithe
>they fuck off, leaving their base undefended
>crush their base
>turn around and crush the force that asked for the tithe
>2 dragons
>6 barbarians
good luck user, you gonna need it
>ships that die easily
?
>steady officer starts ramming my capital ship into orbital stations
Any reason not to fuck up smugglers and steal their stuff to sell on the black market?
Is there a mod for having multiple fleets?
I make money by raiding and selling blueprints in most of my playthroughs and it has never actually been a problem. From time to time you see them use some of the ships but that doesn't change the fact that most of their fleets are trash.
The AI is really damn annoying, you can't maintain any semblance of a battle formation unless you constantly babysit them with direct commands. I really hope they add some fleet formation options because right now the battles end up with ships spreading out like a gull shit in a hurricane.
You don't want to piss off the faction they are from.
>what is escort commands?
The AI functions very well without giving them any commands.
Yeah. Good thing the games still fairly enjoyable. How often do the devs update? Or is it primarily a modders scene now
I am looking to upgrade my shitty fleet, but I don't know what to get. I want to have decent cargo capacity but I would like to maintain plenty of firepower. I am thinking that I would benefit from some carriers and destroyers.
Anyone have some ship suggestions? I especially want to scrap the two enforcers and the condor, but I don't know what to replace them with or if I should just buy identical ships with no D mods.
I was considering a Colossus mk III to replace the Condor. Is that dumb?
>fpdk.github.io
skill calculator
This is 'works on my machine' tier
Big heavy updates once a year more or less.
No it isn't. Maybe your fleet composition sucks.
Most of the time they manage, other times they leave key ships exposed by breaking off to kill something boring while another ship is engaged by 4 serious threats alone.
sort your fucking shitty fleet in order man
AI spazzing out has been a problem since forever
Does it matter? When I deploy in battle my ships seem to be in the appropriate order.
What are the modded factions to stay away from?
It offends my sensibilities
>want to get into nex
>can't get past the boring earlygame of being the errand boy and sucking the dick of your faction
DME and Blue/Red. Approlight is "op" but fun and the rest are fiarly balanced and comes down to personal taste in aesthetics.
>off in butt Fuck Egypt trying to find a pirate base for a bounty
>stumble upon a derelict legion battle carrier with only 1 dmod
>Neutrino
>balanced
Does colony growth fall off a cliff over time? I have a size 8 colony, alpha'd out the ass, 178% accessibility. Growth is at 1.08%. If I sink 3.2 million into 'Growth Incentives' it goes up to maybe 1.58%.
most of them
>minmaxing
>not roleplaying
apparently so
>is the thing I see happening, happening?
Nah.
Which is exactly how it works in reality.
Once it starts falling off consider enabling free port.
Factions will get angry with you but by that point your colony should be able to defend itself.
Whats the consensus on shadowyards?
the speedup mod doesn't seem to work on my game
any tips? everything else is working fine
One of the best faction mods around
mods bad
Started a new game with the Apogee starter setup. The ship comes with a motherfucking mining blaster, any suggestions on swapping it for something else? It's completely worthless against shields because of how slow the ROF is.
nice
the entire skill system needs a revamp
The entire skill system is getting a revamp.
and thats a good thing!
phase lance until you find a tachyon lance or plasma cannon
>start of the game
>phase lance
the trick is to sell the apogee for something worthwhile
NO anime allowed
same goes for diable
What are some good portrait mods?
Degenerate Portrait Pack.
No. You get the same amount of "Growth points" on any size, but you need more growth points to grow to the next size. So you make less % per month.
Think someone's working on a wojack pack otherwise everything I've seen is anime level bad or full Reddit memes
theyre all anime shit
all the ones on the mega except the anime ones
Commission the artist to make new portraits.
they don't
when deploying hover over the total supply bar, it will tell you more info why each side can deploy how much
pls no
why is there no fucking autosave
because the game expects you to not be retarded
Phase ships are fun as fuck to play as but they are complete ass to fight against.
Where can I illegally download this game for free?
not an excuse
from the website and use [REDACTED]'s product code
'Portrait pack v1.2.3''
All canon and immersive. Adds a lot to the pool and most look like they fit very well with the other vanilla portaits
its a reason not an excuse
>Portrait pack v1.2.3
its still anime shit
High Tech annoyingly is fought best against with High Tech. Beam weapons are amazing against phase ships cause you don't need to worry about wasting flux on shots they just phase through, though you have to manually use the weapons or else the autofire AI will just fire on the empty space where the phase ship is phased out in.
Doesn't help much even then against the smaller ships, they play perfectly safe like 90% of the time and its god damn annoying.
Subtly. I like it, considering their all pastel penned like the originals
How can I attract pirates to clean out planets I want? I need lobsters. Can I sell a shit ton of drugs on the black market there to speed it up?
>shitting on front mission 3 portraits
How much heavy machinery should you carry around to get the max benefit out of salvages?
About three fiddy
Absolutely based.
> set ship point limit to 2000
i have become death, destroyer of worlds
this aint shit
my last AI inspection fleet consisted of 8 onslaughts and 2-3 legions
and unlike other times, this time they deployed 3 onslaughts and 2 legions immediately
and just a few other ships
it was a stalemate when I am about to get good hits on one others move in and push my shit
until legion-chan went YAMETE!!! and charged into the middle of my fleet
100, 200 is needed for urveys
>feeling the need to one-up strangers on the internet
Your life must be shit
Is overdriven a good idea?
Who the hell said Neutrino was balanced? This faction is OP as fuck cause your shields never go down.
Where's your oxtug faggot
>hardly any dmods
Damn, they must really mean business this time
Safety Overrides? It can be good if you like fighting at
You'll never need more than 80
It pairs extremly well with the Hammerhead and assault chainguns, on most other ships it's not really worth it
Harbinger
Thanks. Good to know I've been lugging around 1000 for no reason
Wolves suck ass.
youre just giving them the wrong weapons
it is indeed
Wolves hunt in pack, Arisen
Would it be better to start with a desert world with scattered ruins, poor farm land. and moderate ore at 125% hazard or a cryo-volcanic with abundant ore, rich ore, and diffuse volatiles a 200% hazard?
Is there any benefit to building in a system that has a remnant nexus? Other than being able to fly to them and attack them any time you want, but in that case isn't building one system over better so that they don't keep grabbing the relays?
Frigates suck ass in general for larger battles. Fighters do everything a frigate can but in greater numbers and replacable.
Omen, Tempest and Monitor hold their weight well into late game. Every other frigate is indeed garbage though.
Hazard and proximity to center are two main defining factors of colony quality. Less hazard is more growth and less industry upkeep, so main world should have one as low as possible.
