What's the appeal of Crash games?

What's the appeal of Crash games?

I just find them boring as fuck. Can an adult really enjoy them?

>I dont like [genre]
>It must be because I am just too mature and intelligent, and not simply because people have different tastes and not everything appeals to everyone
Yup, you got it user. Just like everything else you dont like, it's for dumb children, while of course the things you do like are objectively perfect and only enjoyed by 400 IQ gigachads such as yourself.

None, they're bad Donkey Kong Country games

it's a game for the manchildren

Crash is like Banjo, kusoge that tried to copy Mario. Original CTR was good tho

Spyro was always the superior series.

Crash is great, what don't you like about it? While Crash 1 might be a bit rough to get into for newcomers 2 is a perfectly enjoyable game.

The first Crash was impressive for technical reasons but that’s it, don’t listen to anyone who claims to genuinely enjoy playing the games, they’re either a furry, autist or nostalgiafag who frequents the Crash subreddit.

This but with Kirby games. I like the pink ball but good god the games are boring, easy tripe.

falseflag thread? based faggot.

This but with Mario 64

Best worst post in this thread

Why is Crash shit on but Mario gets a free pass despite being largely mediocre?

Would an adult ask that question?

Nindendy fags

Crash has the appeal of super mario 2D games. It was of course only nintendo that could have tossed out the perfected formula of 2D mario and invent the way to do a 3D platformer. I'll remember crash mostly as the game to play at the dentist office or divorced families kid's houses.

t. quitted at Native Fortress

Banjo is better than mario tho. this post makes no sense

Critics who treat 'adult' as a term of approval, instead of as a merely descriptive term, cannot be adult themselves. To be concerned about being grown up, to admire the grown up because it is grown up, to blush at the suspicion of being childish; these things are the marks of childhood and adolescence. And in childhood and adolescence they are, in moderation, healthy symptoms. Young things ought to want to grow. But to carry on into middle life or even into early manhood this concern about being adult is a mark of really arrested development. When I was ten, I played Princess Maker in secret and would have been ashamed if I had been found doing so. Now that I am thirty I play them openly. When I became a man I put away childish things, including the fear of childishness and the desire to be very grown up.”

>d-do i fit in, guys
Dumb retard.

Dead game banjie

>Muh Mario better than everything
Go away, mouthbreather. Your stupidity is thoroughly unimpressive.

Games for brain damaged autistic furfags. They’re not good at all, just bland ass hallways with terrible level design. If you want a good 3D platformer just play Mario, AHiT, Banjo, or Yooka.

The appeal for me is that the game can be as easy or as challenging as you want it to be. Do you just want some fun platforming? Just beeline to the end/grab the crystals. Want some challenge and an understanding of platform movement mechanics? Go for the crystals. Want to test that knowledge even further? Time trials.

You can apply this dumb logic to literally all games retard. All you need is a stopwatch and a game in which you can collect something (literally all of them).

Doesn't mean that Crash isn't overrated garbage.

Give that back immediately Jamal!

>Crash
>Overrated
In what fucking universe?

Attached: 1560553698413.jpg (480x360, 36K)

Difference being Crash was designed to have those things in mind instead of an autistic work around. Besides that, it is a personal thing more than anything else.
No but seriously, what do you despise about Crash?

Also *go for the gems.

>None, they're bad Donkey Kong Country games
It's literally the same thing but in 3D.

you missed kirby in your game collection for little children with brain damage

Yea Forums has been shilling that retarded remake for fucking ever

Cortex Strikes Back is a very solid game. The controls and physics are excellent and make Crash's moveset satisfying. The jet board is just ok and the jet pack is pretty awful but that's only 2 levels and one boss fight. It's a bit too easy imo, even completing the game 100%, but it is far from boring.

Crash 1 is rough on the controls but the levels work well with the simplistic moveset, and earning the gems by getting all crates without dying provides a good challenge. Its only real issue is the save system. I enjoy it as much as Crash 2.

Warped has too many shitty vehicle levels and the new powerups removes any challenge the game has to offer since you can just slide -> double jump -> tornado in the most dfficult levels. Even Future Tense from N.Sane Trilogy was too easy because of this. It was my favourite when I was a kid but today I just don't feel like playing past N. Tropy.

Oh boo-fucking-hoo you salty bitch. That doesn't make it overrated. Not anymore than literally any Mario or Zelda game.

I mean that’s true, but I was specifying 3D platformers.

Instead of making a good new game they did it the lazy way and just remade everything. And remake Crash looks like garbage.

>these are the people who tell you to grow up

The topic of the thread is about Crash games in general though.

They're literally 3D versions of the DKC games, so if you're not enthused by platforming alone you're not gonna enjoy them. Maybe Spyro and Banjo are more your speed with all those unnecessary shitty minigames.

>implying Crash 3 doesn't have a lot of shitty minigames
What are you smoking nigga?

Minigames bad
Game variety bad

the beauty in Crash is that anyone can pick it up and play. Simplicity isn't bad at all, and if you're going for 100% completion, the games can get quite hard

I like the simplicity of the games, the music, the bits of funny character that shines through the first 3 games. Only gripe with 3 is the vehicle levels but its still a cool game.

Babby's first try and die, which is a good thing if you aren't some gatekeeping faggot.

You must strictly like platformers in order to enjoy Crash Bandicoot. If you need elements that dilute the platforming experience, Crash 3 is more your kind of game, or the various Nintendo associated 3D platformers, all the way from Mario 64 to today.

Attached: cresh.png (517x748, 285K)

what's impure about mario 64?

You have to play the original games, not the remake. Art direction is top-noth all around, and you get roped in once you realize 90% of the rogues gallery produces kino every time they speak (or do anything really) and you wait for another game so most of them can get screentime again. Also I'm generally just a sucker for the music. It's the perfect blend of cartoony and catchy, but just a tad cruel. It doesn't sound too childish.

youtube.com/watch?v=w7xjhs0Uodw

I'd touch more on gameplay, but it's not impressing anyone who played SM64 in the day. Generally I find everything else better in Crash though.

>It's literally the same thing but in 3D and bad.
FTFY

Crash has had enough bad/polarizing games after the initial trilogy that Activision wanted to test the waters before investing in a full blown, all original sequel. Can’t say I blame them since it became apparent that the developers and audience couldn’t figure out what they wanted for Mind Over Mutant or Crash of the Titans.

I agree, a new game would have been preferable, but it probably wouldn’t be possible without recreating the old games to attract old AND new fans and narrowing down what parts make them so special.

Why is that

The plane levels and maybe the underwater levels are the only bad ones. Plus 3 makes up for it by having the best bosses.

First the remakes are shit

Second collectathons have evolved, people dont just like collecting shiny gems anymore. Ingame items or skins feel much better sadly this shit is all in lootboxes now.

Idiot. Crash is NOT, and has NEVER been a collectathon. With the exception of picking up crystals that are not at all hidden, everything else is optional to collect.

Now look over there, that creature.

It's a janny.

>First the remakes are shit
Give me a fucking break. The slight alterations to some of the physics were hardly noticeable and don't take away much from the game. The remakes are fine.

They really butchered the music after the first game and you know the realistic character models look like shit, don't lie.

>Continuity between games is based on the canon/best ending
>Best ending in each game requires collecting all the gems
>Getting the gems requires destroying all the boxes

I know you don’t COLLECT the boxes, but you have to destroy all of them by plowing through them with your body or ensuring that they detonate.

>PS1 Coco
“This character makes me feel funny, but I like it”
>NST Coco
“I have a MIGHTY NEED”

Makes me love her even more.

I tried playing the first one in the N Sane trilogy yesterday and holy shit it made me feel bad at games. The jumps are SO precise and the hit boxes on enemies are really janky. Maybe I’m just a zoomer but I couldn’t really enjoy it. Meanwhile I’ve got close to 100 hours into the new CTR game and love it

Nigga keep playing it. 2 and 3 are more forgiving but the building to them with 1 first is very rewarding.

I’ll probably keep playing it. How long is it anyway? I’ve heard the 2nd and 3rd games are better but I wanna beat the 1st one first. I think I’m on the third island

She's done it since 1996 too

Attached: 1565411484084.jpg (176x122, 10K)

The way Crash 3 handled it's gimmick levels was polarizing to a lot of people. Crash 2 has the perfect balance.

>This botched remaster
Fuck no it's not enjoyable. Rounded shitboxes make Crash 1 even more of a slog to do than it normally is (and it really is).

Why aren't there any Rikki Oh games?

Thats what makes it better. Based Tawna cant be stopped.

Attached: D0EC5750-541B-4365-A8E2-65A4E7FDB100.png (740x414, 286K)

The third island is the final one in the game so you ain't too far to the end. Two rather infamous levels are coming up assuming you just got to it but if you push through those then you're fine.

The high road and slippery climb?

Should I get into Crash? Huge (2D) Sonic, Banjo, and Mariofag. How does the Crash & Spyro trilogy compare out of curiosity?

Yeah sure. Crash platformers are pretty basic and linear but also polished. The remastered trilogy is fine, physics are slightly wonky but makes up for it with some extra polish and content in other spots.

Also Crash Team Racing is the best kart racer in the genre.

Play either crash 2 or 3 first, then either The Huge Adventure or N. Tranced on the GBA (those are 2D) then the remake of the trilogy if you want.
Don't touch the CTR remake or the Spyro remake, former has microtransactions and the latter looks and runs like shit.

You're 15 though user, you aren't a adult.

Attached: big earnie.jpg (572x621, 104K)

Yeah, once your past that you've survived the worst the game has to throw at you. That's if you're not planning on playing through Stormy Ascent.

>Looney Toons aesthetics and slapstick humor.
>Deep game mechanics in a mascot kart game
>recent reputation as the Dark Souls of mascot platformers

Because it's not Nintendo

Crash isn't for everyone. But what makes it weaker than Donkey Kong Country is the weak presentation (aesthetic and soundtrack) combined with lack of a feeling of weight and momentum.

Donkey kong dances on the screen and lets you master his momentum and level layout. Crash is very stiff overall.

Crash is a linear platformer and could be considered sort of a 3D version of Donkey Kong Country, sometimes literally with its many 2.5D levels. Spyro is a 3D collectathon in the vein of Banjo, it's very easy but has fun mechanics and good level design.

I'm 27. Yeah I know I'm fucking scum for playing video games. I don't care.

Crash is pretty much DKC in 3D.

It's a good, fun and tricky platformer series that is genuinely underrated, as good platformers aren't that common, especially 3D ones. A lot of criticism comes from Nintendo fanboys shitting on it out of insecurity.

Crash was very well-designed, with creative and techncial decisions made hand-in-hand, which has made it age well for an early 3D title. They wanted to give the game as much character as possible despite the technical limitations and all their decisions were based around that, which gives it a ton of life despite all the elements using relatively few polygons (Crash's design, boxes, apples etc).

Tired of this meme. Crash 1’s hitboxes were always wonky and now you can’t fall through the floor due to broken collision detection.

Crash 1 isn’t THAT hard either. Far easier than DKCR

The first game aged like shit, though.
The second and third games are the good ones.

So, which is the superior game?

Attached: vs.jpg (1280x720, 200K)

Disagree - I played the original for the first time last year, a few months before the remaster released, and it's aged fine.

fuck CTR for it's microtransactions

Dead horse

Even with shitty MTX Crash is better than Sonic No Content Racing

>games
But the only relevant Kirby game is Super Star
(And yes it's one game, stfu)

The backtracking was fucking awful in Crash 1. How the fuck is a 10 year old kid supposed to figure that shit out? You literally have to collect colored gems late in the game (which is usually hard to do) and get back to the first fucking levels so you can collect the white crystals. It's frustrating for someone who is used to 100% everything immediately. And what's with the schizophrenic difficulty?

Git fucking gud you complete shitter. Can't believe there are so many casuals who are bad at games on this board.

>people whine

I never cared for them when I was younger but I had a good time when I emulated the first one a few months ago
