How do I enjoy video games again instead of playing them out of obligation and getting empty fulfillment at best?

Sounds like you need to give vidya a break.

Make playing a video game a reward not a chore. Go get a fucking job and start building career. To enjoy your hobbies you first need to feel you are actually going somewhere with your life. You don't enjoy it anymore because deep down you know you don't deserve to play it.

Make some friends and play with them

By doing shit other then video games for entertainment.
Seriously, the same thing happens when you binge tv or when you read manga on your vacation. After a while anything can get old.
Especially as you get old and you've seen it all.

i like to utilize alcohol
also, friends

This user is correct. I stopped enjoying vidya when I was a NEET years ago. Finally I got a job and at that time I also got Dark Souls. It seriously felt like I was a kid again when I got home and played it, one of the greatest gaming experiences of my life. I would be at work and just being excited to go home and play it. When you're a NEET you don't have that excitement.

I have to keep telling you aging retards this every fucking time, but find out what you actually liked about video games. This is not rocket science, find out why what you do for recreation resonates with you, and then look outwards, not inwards. Maybe I should write a fucking book so I can just sell it to you idiots for 5 cents a pop instead of making this post every week.

you think a job fixes that? you're constantly surrounded by people who tell you to learn something on your free time. that video games are for children. and they're all married and have children so at the lunch table they constantly talk about their stupid children and they all suck ass. a job only makes it worse.
OP, you want the answer? MAKE A SCHEDULE FOR YOUR FREE TIME. you're sitting on your butt right now thinking about dark and gloomy stuff? well, stop it. open a notepad or gedit or whatever, write the list of stuff you want to do, order them by priority, then write how much time you're giving them. then use an alarm app to time yourself. there you just got a productive saturday, enjoy

I cured that shit for writing a guide for games that I play. Sometimes I don't even publish them because someone else has done a better job on gamefaqs, but I still make them. Call it the autism that it is, but any pasttime is better when it doesn't feel like you're wasting your life on it and instead it feels like you're getting something out of it.

Post your guides

You need to ask yourself why you enjoyed playing videogames in the first place.

I don't know
what would I even do if I could answer that question
I already am really picky with the games I try to play

Why play games you don't enjoy, what is the point?

play games you actually like

Stop playing them out of obligation just to get an empty fulfillment
Fucking idiot

fucking shame on you gibsfag.
anyone who has been a neet for over 1 year deserves to be hung in public.

I've been a for a long time, and I still enjoy games, and everything else.
If you're not enjoying games, stop fucking play them. Sometimes I take a break that lasts a few days, sometimes it lasts weeks.
There's so much to enjoy in this life, read a book or a manga, or just do literally anything else.

My brother.

Stop treating them like a fucking drug for one

Only play games you have a strong interest in and boom you only play like 3 or 4 games a year. Use your extra free time to go socialize and make new friends and hobbies

That's not even a duck, you idiot.

You have made videogames your job. Do something else as work whether it be art, crafts, woodworking or even a wagie job. You'll appreciate videogames more once you're not turning them into your job
