I really...REALLY hate murray.

The retard character?
Yeah, he's always been the weakest of the main cast. They just give up and turn him into a wrestler in the sequels, which lends itself to some pretty fun playable "stealth" gameplay.
Yeah, the game would be much better without the shitty godawful minigames in general.
He get's cooler in the second game.
don't worry about it the first game is the shittiest of the 3 games
>not 3
oof
Not the guy you're replying to but I think from a gameplay standpoint 1 is the shittiest; still pretty rough around the edges but from a story standpoint I'd probably agree 3 is the worst of the trilogy.
big yikes
trash homo game
I've only played the first two, but to be honest, Sly is the only one I really like of the main trio. Murray and Bentley seem kind of annoying to me. The hacking minigames are fun though, so Bentley's got that going for him. I just don't like Murray in terms of story, personality, or gameplay
amazing arguements retard ;)
Wasn't the direction that Murray's voice actor was given that he was playing a gay hippo for some weird reason?
1 is the simplest (understatement of the year), but what's there works. It's just more punishing than the sequels since there's no double-jump.
More to the point, the pacing isn't absolutely shot like in 3. You can add as much mechanics to a game as you like, if it's still boring to play it's a shit game.
I personally would've preferred more focus on platforming challenges in between open world sneaking than trying to have two other characters that are just "Sly but worse." The mini games are fine though, just teleport me to Bentley or Murray instead of making me trudge across the map, swap characters, and then go all the way to the area marker. It's especially annoying since Bentley and Murray can't do shit aside from stealing items that don't require Sly's moves, which is not very many of them. Maybe if those two had better mobility and moves to compliment Sly's I'd be more on board with it. Otherwise it just feels like padding to me. For the record, I mainly mean the second game here. The third game, for all its faults, at the very least had the decency to make the maps easier to navigate with characters other than Sly.
Murray in the first game is the bumbling idiot of the team, whos only real talent is in being the getaway driver, and at times putting on a brave face to attempt to be like Sly (only for Sly to have to baby his ass with a turret) and collect some keys. In the first game he's a hinderence so by the second game he decides to become the strong man of the group. Seriously, finish the first game, it's not the best but it does have its moments, and it's more than worth it just to play the second game which is a major improvement overall. Both Bently and Murray get spme serious character archs and development.
Bentley's voice-actor going full ham redeems the otherwise boring idea of a support character.
I agree though, Sly didn't need a supporting cast at all. They were going for the "heist crew" look but it would've worked with more screentime/interactions with antagonists for dialogue instead.
Yeah 1 is a fine game by its own right very straightforward just feels clunky to me at times
Not sure what you mean by no double jump since it is in 1 unless they just increased the second jump's height for 2/3
The pacing in 3 was pretty bad compared to the other 2 but at imo the only episodes that felt like they dragged were Rumble Down Under and A Cold Alliance
Nah I liked the heist crew gimmick. Getting back to the hideout after completing a mission and seeing everyone just chill around was super comfy. It really added personality especially when someone was gone for whatever story related reason and the other characters visibly took notice.
Everyone shits on 3 but I think it had some of the best settings and boss fights in the series. The pirate level with the ship combat was pure fun and the boss fight in the bamboo forest was kino as shit
3 > 1 > 2
I replay the trilogy annually, I just started the third game today
The first game has the lowest points of the trilogy, but it is kinda unfair to compare it to the other two. It's great in its own right, beautifully crafted levels mostly. However I always dread the minigames, I nearly came when I beat the piranha one in one try a few weeks ago. Bosses are hit or miss. Story is good. Art style and platforming is amazing.
Second game is my all time favorite game, I really can't find a flaw with it except that sometimes the bottles were frustrating when I was younger and Neylas accent was all over the place. Beautiful hub worlds. Memorable missions that always had purpose with building towards the heist. Great story and character development. God tier soundtrack. Great boss fights. New mechanics such as pickpocketing and gadgets are fun and welcome. The three playable characters are very different, giving three very different playstyles you switch to in the game. I can go on, but I think I made the point
Third game uses the mechanics from the second game, but adds too much. Gimmicky characters are the biggest complaint, the other being just how powerful sly himself gets, although that's somewhat understandable for the finale of a trilogy. Music and hubs are just as good, possibly better. Fun challenges and the ability to replay missions. The best boss fights in the series (Dr. M and Tsao for example). It's still a very good game, but a bit too much at certain point, overall a great end to the trilogy though, perfectly wrapping up the story
Until the 4th one shit on that with its mediocrity
By the way, for any fans, some youtuber just did a pretty solid retrospective of the trilogy if any of you have 3+ hours to kill
