Shame it had a lot of misleading marketing and cut content
this. It was a really great game, but someone needs to travel back in time and either PUNCH Tim for thinking making the metal game into a herzog zwei rts was a good idea, or PUNCH the idiot marketers who made it look like a 3d action game
Also it got a little repetitive toward the end and it's pretty clear the open world wasn't really developped properly. But the aesthetic, the soundtrack, the voice acting - all top notch.
misleading how so?
yes, the cut content was really sad.
It's one of my favorite games, i even bought the artbook. People try to convince me it's shit because the RTS sections, but honestly I was happy it was implimented simply because it felt like it complimented the narrative. You were not a one man army kinda thing like other typical games.
>comfy
A lot of people - myself included - who only saw the tv spots and only followed the game sort of tertiarilly (being aware of the whole EA thing and the concept of the game) were rather surprised when they bought it, played a bit of OW metal zelda, and then ran face first into Herzog Zwei.
yeah, I think it was because back then RTS games were a lot more niche and they tried to sell it to a "wider audience" but as history has shown us that never works out.
None of the advertisement mentioned the pseudo-RTS aspect once and the demo was the introductory level which is your standard hack and slash with some driving segments, which is what the game should have been anyway
why the fuck did you only fight the tainted coil at the very last minute, I loved their designs
at least you can play as them in multiplayer
Not him but I bought the game without knowing much about it but saw a commercial with eddie killing a bad guy infront of dethklok band and advertising the game. So I picked it up and heavily enjoyed it.
I didn't know what people got butthurt about it until I saw the OTHER commercial where it looks like it's trying to be like open world Zelda. It didn't show any RTS gameplay so people say it's misleading.
I mean the RTS sections are like what? 5 fights? Not a big deal imp.
2nd half of the game is a clearly unfinished slog, once you clear battersmith and reach the mountains, it kind of takes a nosedive after the goth girls heel turn
the laser panthers were by far the most fun mount, the mammoths were not worth the trouble of getting because they're just so slow and boring
Best part was driving around and listening to music. Gameplay wasnt very good.
I think part of the problem is that the RTS fights are basically the central portions of the story, the 3d action zelda parts are tertiary to it.
I just drove around spamming Zeppelin and face melter
Because EA pushed the game out before it could be finished, so the planned visit to the tainted coil homeland never happened, which is why the whole second feels so rushed
I came for Metal themed hack and slash goodness,I was promised, stayed for the actually kinda fun RTS game I got instead.
I unironically bought this just to get a genuine hat in tf2 but damn it was a good play through
reinstalling
EA tried to kill the game, it was aalllll fatty.
>reddit spacing
holy fuck please consider being born earlier
Unfortunate we'll never get a sequel. Tim got a lot of things right, and I would have liked to see evolutions they would make to the gameplay.
I like that they really did their homework for the bands they included. Obviously you've got Ozzy, Motorhead, Priest etc. but hearing Running Wild, Ostrogoth or Cloven Hoof in a video game is surreal
you can complain about nothing all you want but nobody is going to change how they post because you think it's reddit now
I dug it, wish some made anything in a similar vein, in terms of visual style and the theme of creating a world based on a music or artistic genre.
Take the 70s world of Psychonauts, just an entire world of tropes, themes and imagery from there.
Or just make another Brutal Legend I'd love that too.
