there hasn't been a need for a flash plugin for ages, the last tube site i ever seen that used it was like 2016. for games you should have already downloaded the standalone player and use that to play all your tiddy swfs

firefox is not just blocking it, it'll be removing NPAPI support entirely (thus be unable to load flash at all), and forks may not necessarily deem it worth it to maintain it working just for an unsupported insecure plugin

NPAPI is a deprecated plugin format

after firefox removes it and diverges, when trying to rebase forks against the newer codebase (for security, new html features, etc..) they'll end up with NPAPI that needs to be rewritten entirely because it's broken to hell and back

If the swf is independent, yes. Lot of sites depending on flash also use javascript together with it and other garbage that makes it impossible to be stand alone though.

The inconvenience of having to download everything just to view it will likely kill a lot of sites too (imagine having to download videos on youtube just to check them out in your standalone video player)

That aside the standalone player will likely become very insecure like the plugin (I imagine lot of bad flashes will be going around once a permanent vulnerability is found). Will eventually also break needing a VM to run.

There's actually very few that use flash these days. Dune-dev does port his game into exe as well, so it's of no consequence. Of the games I follow that use flash, none of them have shown signs of transitioning (BlackHole GloryHole, -8, King of Porn City, a couple of brothel sims).

I don't know of anyone dumb enough to make a VN in flash, and most games made in flash would do very poorly trying to port to Renpy.

I just meant whether a player that wouldn't require you to have flash installed would exist but I suppose of course they do.
