Why did it feel so forgettable and empty compared to the other souls games? Was it because the exact same game had already been done to death many times by then, or was it because it came right after the far-superior Bloodborne?
Why did it feel so forgettable and empty compared to the other souls games...

For the record, I didn't even finish it, I got to some point near the end and quit cause I was so bored and had many other games on my backlog. Might get back to it and finish it and the DLC (or even start a new game) after I beat Sekiro
If it's so forgettable and empty, why has it had the most longevity out of all the Souls games?
The structure is really really bad. There's very little pushing you forward besides wanting to experience the next piece of content. And the content is mostly good, but the original Dark Souls had more to its scenario.
dark souls 3 is 50 times better than 1, havent played 2 but ive watched footage and looks like complete shit(not even made by the same people, havent played bloodborn but it looks good, just beat sekiro and i can say out of all the from software games ive played dark souls 3 is by far the best, dark souls 3 online community is gone now, you got in way to late so pvp is probably shit now, but the game is excellent though, only people i know who didnt like it were shit at it, dark souls 3 lore and bosses are way cooler and better than sekiro in my opinion, sekiro was fun but it doesnt really hold a candle to dark souls 3
Dark souls 3 came out after 4 soulborne games, the formula is going stale.
Not that it isn't a good game and in my opinion is more well balanced than the other, shame it isn't as "free" as DS1
>haven't played bloodborne
>doesn't even mention Demon's Souls
Why do PC mustards always literally and unironically have the SHITTEST OPINIONS
It literally lacks soul
havent played bloodborn cause i dont own a ps4 faggot and demon souls was like their first game and is old as fuck, not even worth playing at this point, also i play on a one x
Stop making shit threads using your opinions as if they were facts, faggot.
Bad bait
guessing you got wrecked in dark souls 3 alot, many such cases
>time between DeS and DS1: 2 years
>time between DS1 and DS2: 3 years
>DS2 and BB: 1 year
>BB and DS3: 1 year
>DS3 and ???: currently 3 years
>no other souls game released since DS3
>"Why are people still playing DS3?"
It's by far the esiest souls game though
>what is DSR
na 1 is easy as shit, havent played 2 or demon souls so cant comment on those 2
Areas outside of some of the DLC felt too easy to run through even during the first time through. You can argue its the same in any of them but not the first time through imo. I never felt any sense of dread , there were too many bonfires , bosses well harder had less badass weight to them and the best areas in the game are the castle ones.
You couldn't be more wrong.
Holy fuck
Not a new souls game, that's what. It got exactly the reaction a remaster ought to: a considerable revival, followed by a quick die off.
Im 100% sure he died 300 times in his SOTFS playthrough.
idk about putting sekiro on top though, only had trouble on demon of hatred boss
i take this back only the 3 healthbar bosses were a real challenge
That's why OSRS is dead, right?
None of these playthoughs involved dlc, if they did the numbers would be much higher
Not bait, not many games I've played as much as I've played ds3, hell I beat it on ng+7 and use to go on pvp win streaks of like 50 wins in a row, hard to find someone who can beat me
Because its extremely linear, a single pathway with a couple left or right turns were you go back to the linear path after you beat some shitty boss.
i can show you my ds1 and sekiro stats too if you want since you think this is bait
game feels super rushed. original layout for the game seems far more interesting: reddit.com
it also has an identity crisis. wants to go at the same pace as bloodborne, wants the grandness and dark feeling of dark souls 1
>i play on a one x
even worse
>demons souls
>old as fuck
You must be over 18 to post here you braindead cretin
the earlier ones are easier to a veteran souls player, but most of us were new to the series when we played DeS and DaS1 for the first time, so we found them difficult.
DaS3 failed to make any significant difficulty jump and for those of us who had already beaten 3 souls games and 1 bloodborne, by then it seemed piss easy, even if on a direct comparison, it may have been artificially more difficult.
The Fume Knight in DaS2 for example was infinitely more challenging than anything in DaS3
ps4 stats are shit compared to one x but keep coping with muh exclusives, im 25 and 2009 games are considered old now bruh
Dark Souls 3 is the best dark souls game. You're delusional if you think otherwise. I'm not certain what it is you're so upset about- the variety of weapon art and enemies? The total integration of PVP? The memorable bosses or interesting level design? Every level is 3 dimensional, does that bother you?
I'm sorry you're a pleb who thinks open world games are interested, but all you get from that is fake satisfaction.
>
DS3 was built for PVP, take your peen measuring somewhere else you tryhard. I bet you get parried and killed every match.
this. thank you, only bad players hate ds3
Holy shit this is embarassing bait. I have plats / 1000 / all achievements in every game, including 2 and SOTFS each, and Sekiro, and DeS. Who the fuck do you think cares about your shit PvP ng7 character in ds3 of all the games? Do you think, you're a super expert or something? You sound like a child or autismo
yeah, also midir and nameless king are the hardest bosses ive ever faced in the souls games
Would you faggots fuck off already. I swear to god there's been a DaS3 hate thread every day for like the past week or something. The game was excellent, I don't know what you guys wanted. Maybe you just got tired of it or something. I've been a huge fan of every action RPG From has done since DeS and they've all delivered exactly what I wanted. There was nothing "empty" about it whatsoever. I swear you faggots get bored so easily. Every game needs to completely reinvent itself or something.
Ds3 has the literal worst PvP in the series. Id argue Sekiro is better and there's no multi at all
lol no you dont, just posted this to show ive played the game alot and wasnt baiting
when the invader kills you for the 5th time
The souls games are incredibly easy to plat
it took me quite awhile to get to 227, you have to have absolutely no life at all to get to 1000, like for real how many fucking silver knights you kill?
>their first game and is old as fuck, not even worth playing at this point, also i play on a one x
holy mother of underage
also what would be the point of maxing out to 1000? literally no reason to do so
>NOOOOO STOP CRITICISNG THINGS I LIKE SHTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP FROM CAN DO NO WRONG
Dumbass ds3 babb
im 25 and yes 2009 games are considered old
what?
I think you should stop with the contrarianism it is considered as the best souls game with best bosses and best pvp and has the most players because of how addicting and easy to replay it is.
/thread
>game came out a decade ago
how dare you call demon souls old!!!!
Ds3 is not hard and 227 is not an achievement
Fuckable thread OP, I'm glad you posted it.
>threading your own post
you're not wrong though
Sounds like you got a real bad case of nostalgia, OP.
Okay? Achievements are easy as shit to get
Yes, 3 is easy
most people cant even beat the base game and make cope threads, ds3 isnt easy for normies especially on ng+7
Fume Knight doesn't hold a candle to Nameless King, Sister Friede, Gael, or Midir.
I think it would have been better recurved if they released the games in chronological order like they were designed in the first place where DS3 came out after DS2 followed by BB. DS3 has a lot to live up to after BB and it can’t be helped that it fell short.
Sekiro dumbshit.
If you’re gonna say it’s not a Miyazaki game suck my fucking cock.
also showing my level was to show ive played the game alot retard, but i doubt even 5 percent of players even make it to 200 so your comment is stupid in the first place, gonna go kill 1000 more silver knights and get to 300 so you guys will think im cool though
But souls games get easier after ng
It takes an hour max on ng7 to get to 227 and you can run to ng7 in like 5 hours after your first run
uhh, idk about that but after i beat ng+7 i quit doing playthroughs, cause thats as hard as the game gets
if by easier you mean you're already leveled and have everything than yes i agree but the whole point of ng is to make the enemies harder, i.e. harder bosses, midir on ng and midir on ng+7 are different worlds unless you're insanely high level
Fume Knight you beat by using NPC or other player comrades to distract him while you heal.
Biggest issue for me with FK is using your flask without him nailing you while you're open.
fucking disgusting.
yes i know you can run through the game and skip shit but i dont do that, speedrunners play games like that
DS3 has more soul in the scene where you first see irithyll than all the previous games combined
speedrunners can beat the game in 20 minutes, is that how we're measuring difficulty now? by nerds who've played through 100 plus times to beat the game as fast as possible
Worst pvp? What's so bad about it?
They've probably not done 100 times but I bet they've done it more than once. Once you beat the game it gets easier.
Blood borne > ds1 > sekiro > ds3 > ds2
It’s not that ds3 was a bad game. It just wasn’t as innovative as ds1, and had worse gameplay than bloodborne.

kys
I play offline, I never cared for pvp in soulsborne games, I just view them as purely singleplayer games.
i cant comment on bloodborn, ive heard its good and looks good but sekiro is way better than ds1, sekiro in terms of gameplay is the best(except the part where they removed magic, and different types of weapons) but ds3 lore and art style is better than sekiro imo
why? xbox stats are objectively better and games that are a decade old are considered old
used too many assets from bloodborne desu
im tempted to make an imgur album of all the things ds3 used from bloodborne
Do you autistically collect every item in ng+ playthroughs for no reason?
>why has it had the most longevity out of all the Souls games?
But DaS1 and especially 2 still have active communities.
well i get the ng+ rings obviously and fight every boss again, you can skip like 10 bosses and still beat dark souls
The premise for the game (world dying, kingdoms collapsing in on each other) was an excuse for them to be lazy and recycle old assets and concepts. Most of the criticisms of Dark Souls 2 apply to this game as well but people give it a pass cause it has better gameplay I guess.
Everything I've read about the cut content makes it sound so much better than what we got. I don't know why they cut Kaathe out of the game, he was the most interesting character in Dark Souls 1 and was responsible for most of what wrong in that game, fighting him would have been a fitting end to the series.
Can't help but think that some of the higher ups got super pissed at the beta leaks and decided to recobble half of the game to subvert expectations.
A lot of the world structure is reshuffled so the game has bad flow.
There also seem to be a lot of lazy decisions made to get the game to release more safely so it doesn't have a big draw in its individual moments so the game has lazy shortcuts like dedicated dual weapons or universal bonfire warping and is generally quite uninspired.
The game also shows massive fatigue of both the audience and the devs for the formula since it sheds a lot of what makes the game unique in favor of what people thought made the game unique.
The online portions of the games were generally poorly handled and several have been forced into a dead state or obscurity, DaS3 simply has the advantage of having a usable online component.
Cause you are too braindead to understand the deep connections between ds2 and ds3 that makes ds3 the best story ever.
If someone rolls dubs I'll tell all of you
Cathedral of the Deep is the single best designed level in the whole series.
>Only has a degree of skippability
>Indulges the stupid mimic fetish of DaS3 again
>Points out how dumb the torch is again by having the various enemies just enter a writhing animation when set on fire
>Continuous shortcuts but no useful motive behind a lot of them, leading to shortcuts rapidly becoming useless or starting in a useless state
>Relies heavily on the same enemies present throughout the game
>Contains several bizarre triggers that force the player into nonsensical actions to avoid skipping NPC quests
>NPC interaction with Patches is bizarre since he lowers a bridge that can only be controlled from the side that he isn't on as opposed to his interactions in DaS1 where he is located next to the appropriate switch
>Boss demonstrates why giving the player a ring that replenishes all their health when attacking groups of enemies as the reward for the first boss was kind of dumb
Catacombs in DaS1 is easily a better area even if pinwheel is a pushover, it has a smarter grasp on how the player navigates through the area as well as unique driving factors.
>hurr the game was reshuffled, muh cut content
every fucking From game since Demon's Souls has 'reshuffled' and cut content you fucking idiots, God damn this is so tiring to read all the time
And it hasn't exactly benefited those games much or was too much of a "what if?" to really draw any conclusions from it.
DaS3 ended up with a mostly linear path, 3 small branches to unlock roadblocks on the main path (Cathedral, Yhorm/Aldrich, How early do you try to get to the library) and a smattering of small optional areas. It's not a satisfying structure and the blame can be placed on those concerns.
BB is a stripped down souls which doesn't push its action component far enough and comes out much worse than sekiro.
I still don't understand why it was memed like this. Must be because of a collective victorian boner.
Not it doesn't DS2 sucks dick meanwhile DS3 is a masterpiece. I think Yea Forums being contrarian about it constantly or rather a vocal minority being contrarian about it proves it is!
Wtf this game could have been sooo much better. Also why the fuck did they add the yellow piss filter? To avoid looking like bloodporne?
It's just more of the same, but without the atmosphere + world of previous games.
the weapon on the back still gets my dick hard to this day
Because you're a nigger with no taste.
I'd say that the Irithyll reveal is equivalent to the Anor Londo reveal in 1. In fact, back when the game came out, I heard people mentioning Anor Londo, and I thought they were just making jokes because of the parallels, like the reveal or the silver knight archers.
But then I got to actual Anor Londo. How disappointing that was.
