They’re making Dante seem more badass by giving him less exposure

Fucking hell DMC5’s setting is shit, I love the Red Grave City missions but you only get to play them as Nero, everything past that may as well just be Bloody Palace with cutscenes. I’m not even asking for quality level design, just give me a setting that actually LOOKS interesting.

Dante's got two missions in the city, and they both have the best aesthetic by far.

The dogshit boss fight was actually either Nightmare or Mundus. Nelo is a standout in a game with boring bosses.

It really isn't. Half the bosses are horse shit. Half of the good half are Vergil. All of the level design is muted, extremely low quality and just generally ugly to look at. There isn't any actual exploration of the castle, barring one section where you can head back outside for no reason.

DMC3 was my favorite game for the longest time, simply because Dante was more fun to play in that game since his weapons in 4 sucked ass. But the rose tinted glasses are on super tight for you all.

DMC3 is still the best for playing as Dante. Weapons are subjective but I love Nevan more than anything in DMC5. They got rid of too many things like sliding on enemies and Crazy Combos. Style switching is great and DMC5 obviously looks and feels the best *for now* but they could easily remake DMC3 to the same standard and there’d be no reason to play DMC5 again.

Bloody palace has always been a pain in the ass slog so no surprise there.
DMC5 would be way more replayable if you could skip V's missions without having to go through the mission menu over and over.

I agree with you that DMC1 had a lotta variation, but I don't know if I'd quite say it had the most, as many of these settings kinda blended into one another (due to all taking place on the same island, of course). I think the only thing we can accurately say is that 3 had the least varied setting as nearly every level takes place within the tower, with a few just outside, and a few in the Underworld. Even 2 had more settings.
