Let's talk about your favorite quest so far, late night daggerfall thread
Daggerfall Unity
Is this playable yet
Also is anyone working on Daggerfall with OpenMW?
it's feature complete now it's just bugtesting & qol additions
Do faction quests also increase reputation in the city you took them, or do you have to look for them in taverns?
Individual cities don't have rep, but each region does which I assume is what you meant. Do you mean your legal reputation (the one you see in your status screen that says "in the eyes of X you are Y") or your reputation with the local citizens? Because those are totally unrelated. The latter can be increased by certain Knightly Order quests in the region (if the region has a knightly order at least), while the former can only be increased by a couple specific merchant quests, such as the one where you're framed for stealing which lowers your legal rep when you accept it but increases it after you finish it.
"Merchants" are another group entirely from any of that, and they all share a single reputation across the entire game. All merchants, innkeepers, librarians, etc. that aren't in a faction hall are a member of this group, and doing quests for any one of them will improve your reputation with all of them.
Does joining a knight's guild lock you out of joining the fighter's guild?
I feel like I'm misunderstanding something then. When I talked to the Queen of Daggerfall, she said she had a task, but turned me away. I assumed I needed a higher reputation in the region.
No. You just can't be in two different knightly orders at the same time, but that's not a big deal because they're all identical besides what region they cover.
The queen of Daggerfall is a main character and has her own dedicated faction. What level are you? Different parts of the main quest have different minimum level requirements.
It's probably the level then, since I'm only 2
Did you talk with the lady mentioned in the letter after getting out of the first dungeon?
The tweak that makes the dungeons smaller is a life-saver for Daggerfall. Really improves the game in my opinion.
Like, I'd be fine with the main quest dungeons being fuckhuge but doing a random quest for 400 gold and spending a couple of hours on it seems overkill to me.
I did, and she told me to talk to the leaders of Daggerfall, Sentinel, and Wayrest
Yeah I just looked it up and her quest needs you to be level 3. You're almost there.
Quest rewards are never good. Maybe sometimes you might get an okay magic item but usually it's some useless shit. You can make better magic items every time and you'll make 100 times the monetary quest reward figure by just hauling shit out of the dungeon and selling it.
What's OpenMW?
Engine replacement for Morrowind, kind of like what Daggerfall Unity is. Not sure what that post is talking about though
I think they were asking if DF would get multiplayer but given how that turned out for MW it's be kinda weird but fun with enough people
I feel like multiplayer would suit DF much better than MW. Exploring those huge dungeons with friends sounds fun
did everything there is to do in this game, now I really wanna play morrowind since it's the only one i haven't played that's worth playing
is it fine to play vanilla minus some bug fix patches that i assume exist? or are there really important mods i should get? i don't care about making it look pretty
Are horses and house a worthwhile purchase?
Well there's this mod that makes so you need to eat food & water every now and again,as well as smaller things like buying houses adding guars to ride in place of horses
horses yes
better getting a ship instead of a house boats are cheaper and help for traveling
thanks user but after looking at the going rates it'll takes ages going back and forth selling loot,I hope mods will be able to flush them out with more atmosphere
you can get a house for free if you gain the highest rank in a knightly order
I found an enchanted kimono in a dungeon, and it's marked as a quest item for some reason. It won't let me identify it, because that's considered removing it from my inventory
Really the only mods you need are just bugfixes and some QoLstuff, maybe MGE for nicer lighting if you want that. Look into the levelling system and how it works, as well as the stamina system.

Take a look at these for some "vanilla friendly" mod recs and all the fixes you need, skip over most of the graphics stuff, you can grab some mesh fixes if you want though, thats what I did.
The bug fixes you want are the Code Patch (fixes engine bugs) and the Patch for Purists (fixes content bugs). Grab the official addons too if you don't already have them. Otherwise vanilla is fine.

Also I know you said you don't care about making it look pretty but MGE XE is still good to have. You don't need to run the distant land generator or any shit like that, just the shaders, FOV control, and GUI scaling are great for making it look and play better on modern screens. It doesn't change any of the vanilla models/textures by itself, it's purely rendering enhancements so without adding/activating extra stuff Morrowind will still look exactly as originally intended, but better.

I don't know why this happens but I just want to add that it's extremely annoying.
That's really strange, never had that happen before. Are you running with any modded quests?
Yeah, but I'm doing the quests for the rep anyway.
