HGH's biggest flaw was that it had no focus. A byproduct of being a kickstarter game.

What we got was a game that feels taped together instead of a cohesive whole. I'm glad their back to self funding it so they can have a clear idea of what the game is going to be from the early stages.

Even though I bought it because I loved how the mechanics of pirates curse looked and Risky reminded me of Naga.

Those two are the only full games in the series. RR was supposed to be a DSi ware game and HGH was kickstarter. The dlc props it up in the end, but you can tell they adapted the gameplay to being a crowdfunded game.

Yes, generally speaking the gameplay is good, the content is a bit lacking. Pirates Curse is generally considered the best of the series but the reast are still good.
