If you want a sea journey, with optional random tasks / jobs, changing seas, making boats, avoiding sharks, mrgalodons and the kraken (uncommon to encounter) and just overall fucking about with a friend then get Stormworks (great for single player aswell) as its by far the best thing on offer for what it gives and is an absolutely solid product with regular updates.
Also dont be a pussy and instead of basic, learn the advanced engine mechanics, otherwise just import what you want from the steam workshop.
