Wait a week and see how much enemy/boss variety there is. Its Hellgate London or just a Diablo shooter, if the loot isn't cool or if there is way too much reusing shit its not worth the investment.

I think it looks pretty neat and has good potential. If anything it'll at least be a fun dungeon crawler.

The gameplay flow is pretty enjoable judging by the streams but will probably get repetitive.
Looks like some later melee weapons have pretty cool anime esque movesets like a scythe you can spin like a meat grinder.

Yeah from watching the movement and gameplay looks really fluid and fun. But it's hard to gauge from watching alone

Are there any special abilities other than the ones assigned to guns?
2 specials feels like a pretty limited amount of options.

>Combat
Relatively simple. You have a light and heavy melee attack which depends on if you press or hold and they can combo into each other but its relatively simple and you rarely have time to combo. The shooting feels good but otherwise nothing much to talk about. Weapon mods are basically spells you charge and then use when needed. Bosses can be difficult because the game is cheesing you but general encounters are piss easy so its suggested you up the difficulty.

>Enemies
Based on what I have seen there is a good variety of them just in the first world. There are two or three more after the first world though and I think they have their own enemy sets. The bosses I have encountered so far range from standard humans to big beefy bastards. Apparently they get better but I haven't gotten to the last boss of the world and only have two or three minibosses to look at

>Writing
Really good. It is a really deep and well thought out world with a lot of backstory to find.

>Exploration
There are a bunch of secrets and secret quest lines. It was clearly inspired by Bloodborne and DaS in that regard but its chock full of the shit. There is allegedly a secret in the first area of the game before Ward 13 but I didn't find it. The areas are procedurally generated except for story areas. There is plenty of side shit to find.

Overall I would give it a 7/10 at the moment but it could go lower or higher as I delve deeper into the game as most are frontloaded with all the good shit before later just going to straight shit. I'm enjoying it and while the combat is nowhere near Dark Souls in terms of depth, character building or options but the sense of exploration is exactly like my first run through DaS or BB which scratches an itch which is rarely scratched.

Are you forever limited to 2 firearms or you can unlock more slots?

Everything you described seems too good to be true, and now Im captivated. There has to be a catch though. After all it's a western game made by literal whos.

I think reviewers said 20 or so hours. I'm at 6 hours and still on the first world but I have been hunting around for secrets.

Isn't that Bloodborne though?

You can barely use BB guns as a playstyle.

I've only seen one trench coat so far from a streamer though he wasn't very far in the game but hopefully there's more.

It's far more fast paced, plus enemies are more agressive and harder to fight. Remnants also has fluid animations and doesn't look as janky.

How is The Surge 2 by the way, did it improve a lot on the first game?

I was about to buy it then I saw the game increased it's price so I noped.

Not out yet but based on what is out they improved a lot and improved the boss fights. So a step up from the previous game.

Definitely way better, every loot is permanent and there's no bullshit thing like common, epic or rare loot. Everything is unique.

They changed some regional pricing. I had enough for it before but not anymore.

There is loot, but not in the sense of Warframe or the like. It's closer to Dark Souls, where you find something lying around/ killing enemies or bosses and then use it.

If you're asking do you need to open a menu every 3 seconds to see if the new weapon you got is any good then no it's not like that at all. Seems like new weapons are nicely spread out and are worth using also there's no rarities or anything like that.

Nah, normal item pick-ups that have either better stats or change you combat moves.

Does controller fuck up for anyone else?

I'm using a PS4 controller, and I cannot aim the weapons. Everything else looks fine. Movement is actually pretty fluid. Kind of wish there was more weapon variety though.

I had zero expectations for this game but I bought it out of sheer curiosity. I'm surprised how good it is so far, honestly. Combat has nice weight to it and feels satisfying, voice acting is solid and the environments/enemies are a visual treat to behold

Haven't tried co-op yet though, hopefully that's not fucked

I have the same feeling which i had when i played Lords of the Fallen. It's have dark souls vibes but it's lower tier level. Still game feels nice but that's it.

I’ll likely buy the game when I get paid.
