During your nonbuffed phase, use only 2 atonements, and when you activate FoF and apply the buffed goring, you should have just enough time to use one more atonement before sword oath drops, and you should also still be able to get another goring in at the end of FoF

My group cleared E1S in like 30 minutes and none of us knew anything about the fight before starting other than one of them knew the mechanic after the cutscene is "always do the opposite of what Bart says"

It sounds wierd given the state of pugs in week 3, but on day 1 people were actually worth a damn and did the mechanics reasonably well. All that's left now is super casuals and 9th percentile turboshitters. Hell, even cleared E2S the day after in PF. Went in at the end of the week to help the slow people and it turned into a complete nightmare. The quality of players changes a lot later in the week(s).

Parses aren't fair comparisons unless you only compare yourself within your ilvl bracket, which FFLogs unfortunately does not have.

Your green parse at 440 ilvl might be 90th percentile for i440 but it's been lowered due to all the i450+ peeps.

You're only carried if your performance is much much worse than the other party members. For example if an orange 15k BLM is the only reason why your party full of greys didn't die to enrage.

Finally Japan has started to diversify their female physique portfolio and they added a female with a realistic BMI

WAR = Lifesteal/Burst damage phase with simple rotation
PLD = Blocking/Rigid minute-long rotation that cycles the entire fight between physical and magic
GNB = Mix of mitigation types/Forty second build-up to twenty second burst phase that's pretty fast and high APM
DRK = Overshields and anti-magic/Like Warrior with a Stand and less room for error

They're all extremely similar. So much that its fairly easy for all the dedicated to switch from one tank to another one. I'll point out some differences though but can't really change the core of them feeling or not feeling different.

PLD = Can heal others and selves in a pinch. 2 dps phases.
WAR = Unga bunga dps phase but probably the wierdest now compared to all the tanks. Only feels weird because it got the least amount of changes compared to other's reworks this x-pac.
DRK = Has neat things here and there, lots of mechanics to look at but more flexiable/simple then it looks.
GBR = Similar to PLD the most outside of the spot healing. Lots of dps like playing them as of late and they have a nice "flow" of abilities rather than phases.

DPS queues are usually 30 minutes to 2 hours long because most people play dps.

Are AST supposed to feel trouble healing through big pulls? I feel like my GCD heals are too weak to out heal the incoming damage, and the shields are too expensive to keep up 100% of the time. And obviously the oGCD heals have a longer CD so I can use them once/twice per pull and it runs out.

I feel like AST is perfect for boss encounters, pretty much makes the party unkillable with so much burst heal if you know the fight, but for big pulls it's really hard to keep the tank alive.

No, Stardiver is every 30 seconds. It does most damage to the main target then 50% or so less to every other target. So aim for the biggest baddy in the middle of the pack if you can. High Jump is simply a much faster regular jump that gives you dragon eyes (2 and you can go from blood of the dragon to life of the dragon).

At max level melded I've gotten to 2.0GCD with the buff. Monk I think with their 4th grease lightning can get to at least 1.9. I'm leveling up MNK now too since it can share all but the weapon gear and it's rather fun, though the promise of 5.08 and 5.1 fixes to SAM make me really happy.

Fuck no, keep BLM the way it is. Part of the reason I like the class is I'm not having to weave GCDs right and left like MCH, it's a slow, steady playstyle that favors thinking ahead with your positioning rather than being able to instantly react to whatever's coming.

It's nice how jobs are currently set up in the sense that no matter how you like your DPS jobs, there's one that probably appeals to you since they all play a little different. Leave high APM stuff for other jobs, keep BLM a low APM turret that foregoes twitch reactions for forethought.

I think one thing that could be done with Thunder would be make it a rolling dot. As in, instead of refreshing the duration when you apply it again, casting thunder extends the duration up to 30 or 40 seconds. Basically lets you keep thunder rolling without truncating the dot every time you apply it.

To replace Fire 1, just make Despair cost the same as Fire 3 when used with Umbral Hearts up, but it consumes all Umbral Hearts so you only cast it when you're at 1 UH exactly. Add a fourth Umbral Heart once you get this ability. Now Despair replaces Fire 1, but only when used at the exact right time. And make Despair a guaranteed crit, it's so unsatisfying when I see it just hit for tiny amounts right after Fire IV direct crit.

Queue times on other DCs were long as well, just not abhorrently so, they were closer to half the length of crystal queues regardless.

It's daunting for people to attempt it because they don't know it. Even I feel "oh god I want to get out of this commitment" when I first see a preparation video for an EX with my static and then I do them and it becomes secondhand muscle memory nature for me after a few runs. But it being my friends and voice chat helps.

Me too. I would love for some kind of EX mode of regular dungeons to be introduced. Reward can be as simple as dyable versions of the dropped gear. Maybe make it intermediate between EX/Savage and regular. With friends challenging content becomes fun as hell.

It depends, if you don't have a 450 weapon then 700 DPS off is pretty reasonable. If your lower level gear isn't your weapon though then it would probably be an issue.

If you're doing less DPS than SAM at the same item level at all then you're doing something seriously wrong, make sure you're doing the right opener and not the meme low ping opener unless you live in the same building as the servers and have a god tier Nvidia PC that's only 20-40 DPS ahead of the normal opener.

Melee DPS in general has True North. Your skillchains do have positionals later and it becomes very important, they build your job-gauge resource.

Iirc your only two positionals are Kenki boosters at the end of the combos. Just use it when you're stuck behind because of mechanics or you're too lazy to move.

Gekko (Crescent) gives you 5 more kenki if you rear attack
Kasha (Cherryblossom) gives you 5 more kenki if you side attack

My guess is true north gives you the 5 extra kenki regardless of your position

Also for what said, it is valuable. 25 potency and it's a free 320 potency attack. If you do your positionals you will end up with so much kenki you end up wishing we had another big-dick-big-kenki 50 or higher ability to use because it's tiresome spamming the shit out of your hissatsu stab attack. Obviously dont' spam the SHIT out of it to the point of not having enough for a 50% potency buff. I never worry about having enough for your Hissatsu big-dick single target or linear AOE attack because their long cooldown means you can easily prep for it.

Also jesus fucking christ I hate having to talk shop about Samurai because I never remember any of the weeb terms but Medare Setsuggeka. I like to refer to them just by my hotkey or I'm starting to do cherryblossom-ice-crescent instead of something-yukikaze-gekko.
