Unironically Fate stay night for starters. There's a choice like every 15min. and if you do not choose the right option, you'll die.
There's about 40 game over scenarios, each and everyone of them is unique and sometimes even more interesting than the actual canon plot.

It's more of a side step I'd say. More streamlined, no pixel hunting for clues, easier to deduce what the game wants you to. It's longer too and the start is pretty slow but I'd say it's worth it at the end.

The more I start thinking about ever17 overall plot, I keep running into how stupid it is. Remember11 just felt like it had no payoff. In it's defense, it's mostly because it wasn't complete and while I get the twist makes sense in theory, it's still jarring.

I never ran into any major issues in Never7 and enjoyed the slice of life stuff. I think it helps there were more writers so every route felt fresh

You can try to spin it any snarky way you want but that is objectively what choice is.
VN's are videogames and VN's don't rot your brain. In fact, they might help broaden your horizons and teach you something new. You should give them a try user.

Just finished this, it was pretty good, by no means the best VN I've read but unique and enjoyable. I'd definitely be interested in reading other Chunsoft sound novels like Kamaitachi no Yoru or Machi, but unfortunately they'll probably never be translated.

Mini is a rebundle of AA2 that is 3GB's large that is recompressed using a new algorithm.
It is also prepatched with English and the DLC. All mods can be dragged and dropped or made into ShadowSets which are just also just drag and drop.
Mini is also self-sustaining and does not need JapLocale or a Locale emulator to use properly.

A videogame is any kind of software product meant for entertainment that requires interactivity from the user. Visual novels fit that description and yes as stupid as it may sound, clicking for the next line of dialogue is gameplay.

Not as much as you would think. Creating new girls using AAU is a bigger rabbit hole than playing it.

AA2 does not have all the tools to make great looking girls by default, so the methods used in AAU are a bit more involved to accomplish something like KK. But you get to do a lot more with them and give them fairly custom behavior modules to make them unique,

Yeah, most of the choices the game offers you barely matter. There's barely any bad ends either, most girls have an ending and then an after story for them. You also have small routes for some of the side characters and finally the agave route is kind of the pinacle of the VN which you unlock it after you do every main girl route if I recall correctly.

Only one I've ever played is 999 and I really enjoyed it. I've also bought Steins Gate, Dangan Ronpaul and Saya no Uta but i haven't played any of them yet.

It's more of an Adventure Game, but the line between that and a VN is pretty small. JPs themselves don't actually make a distinction between the two. Generally the more "point and click" gameplay tends to be the only real difference.
The Phoenix Wright series itself is highly regarded, it's just it's already been discussed to death already.

Took a 3 month break from Utawarerumono MoT for some reason. Gonna finish it at some point, but I'm looking forward to Ciconia.

I've forgotten most of it, but I think a choice at the end leads to a good ending or a bad ending, and that bad ending reveals a lot. Some of the explanation of the plot is in the TIPS too.

Yeah I did get the bad end at the very end. In a way that just made things more confusing. I'll go back and get more of them I guess but looking at a guide makes it seem pretty tedious to get them all, even with skipping.

You can also look at explanations of the plot online. The game is pretty obtuse with some parts of the plot so you have to puzzle out some of it.

To fully figure it out on your own, you need to be really autistic with getting every TIP in the game. There is one bad ending in particular that gets you most of the way there though. One aspect of that scene is pretty blatant.

If you really want to spoil it:
The plan is to trap the "That Guy" in a neverending cycle of searching for an ending to the game that does not actually exist. To this end, he tricks the player into taking on the role of Satoru while being inside Enomoto's body. The realization and subsequent contradiction of: I am Satoru, I am not Satoru. with no apparent resolution is what hopefully keeps you forever in the dark. It's a revenge plot taken because he believes the shared human unconsciousness is to blame for what took place with his sister.

So In finally played FSN and here's my hot take:

Overall it deserves its critical acclaim and success, as it's one of the best written VNs out there. The world-building is top-botch, the pacing is above average, but everything else is unremarkable. The main weakness is that the story is not particularly interesting if you already know what will happen and player emotional investment in the story is lower than it should be. It's really good at making you feel danger and dread due to all the bad endings, but Shirou is hard to relate to and Saber is a pretty dull main heroine. I'd recommend if it you're a newcomer for Fate, but it's harder to justify for somebody who already saw the anime. Only do it if you want to become a Fate-fag and know all the in-depth lore.

LOL. The regular good ending is considered to be by far the best part. The girl routes are horrendous and the true end has several completely unnecessary plot twists that shit over the story.

No choices until the final episode. It's a very good VN but has shit pacing, so if a boring part comes up just skim it until something interesting happens.

There are like 3 characters in umineko that are vague references to higurashi characters. You won't miss much if you read umineko first.

I don't know what it is with Sca-ji and dark haired heroines getting bullied so hard but H20 had that in it too. I think it's the most uncomfortable any VN has ever made me, and probably why I liked that chapter the most. The Kimika ending was great too.

It has choices and a menu/gallery now, I don't remember the first one having any choices.

I kinda soft dropped this game. I loved playing it until I got a bad end, and then when I looked up online everyone was saying that you pretty much have to use a guide because the conditions to get a non-bad end is retarded, like inspecting objects in a certain order, or visiting places at certain times that you can have no way to know or figure out yourself.
Since I don't want to use a guide I haven't played it since.

Finished that last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. Is vol 3 going to be the conclusion or is there going to be more?

Yanderes are a lazy writing tool. Instead of having a character be realistically upset the writer goes "lol her eyes go blank and she stabs things" and calls it a day. There's rarely any set up to them snapping either. It's entirely for loners who think "id like a stalker wifu" so there's never any effort put in.
That's not to mention how yanderes are always the weakest cute gril. They never look heavier than 50kg so they can get the scary/cute shit. It sucks. Knives are dangerous, but it wont completely negate the weight and sex differences. Yanderes aren't threatening when you remove the theatrics. I have a friend who got stabbed by a girl and he knocked her teeth out.
