Horse Armor DLC.

Fpbp

Their downfall just began with Fallout 76 and the recent paid mods in all their games. Fallout 4 wasn't as good as previous games but hardly horrible.

After Morrowind the talent started leaving, and Todd didn't have enough people to tell him 'no'

Todd likes the series to be more or less

>Click to swing axe. Kill thing. Get gold. Repeat.

And he thinks the rest is nonsense filler. No seriously, he's that much of a normie retard.

And he has tons of power now, therefore Skyrim is "YOURE THE DOVAHKIN HAHA KILL SHIT"

fallout 3 is when they started their downfall because it was clear they cared less about dialogs compared to the fallout 1 and 2

Fallout 3

The majority of people that were on the Bethesda bandwagon started to fall off slightly at Fallout 4 with the voiced protag and the 4 dialoge options that were really just 1. Fallout 76 was the peak of their downfall and there isn't really much of note in between.

This is the only correct answer, altough one could argue the decline started with Oblivion itself

all of these are right. i know it's not happening, but i really hope they crash and burn. maybe someone with actual talent can work on TES and Fallout.

It started with Oblivion, the shift of Cyrodil from it's original state to it's safe and familiar medieval look, was a sign that they were starting to prioritize easy access over uniqueness, at least Shivering Isles made up for it some.
But everything after that was of a lower and lower quality with every game.
I'm surprised that normalfags didn't love 76 despite everything, they've never been bothered by the thousands of bugs, glitches, mediocre writing and simple quests before, many of them just skipped dialogue and story anyways and they don't think for themselves so what caused the 180?
I guess some e-celebs told them those things were bad now and no longer acceptable, so they jumped on that bandwagon like the faggots they are.

I once predicted that something like the horse armor would return in a future game. We then got creation club, which makes the horse armor dlc look average

When Skyrim sold like hotcakes on all platforms.

76 is multiplayer it might have been more forgiven if it was a normal bethesda single player that can be modded

technically it was morrowind
morrowind was the game where they thought the company was going to not be able to release another game, so they decided to go all out and stop chasing the latest trends while making something they themselves wanted to play
and they did, and it was successful

and bethesda, well, when they're successful, then they're not interested in doing anything unique

No Bethesda game is truly horrible but FO 4 was the most, lukewarm, meh game I've ever played

Morrowind.

They think if they were successful once they'll be effortlessly successful the next few times. they were wrong

reducing skills with every new TES entry so actually much earlier than Horse Armor DLC.
And about Oblivion. that game looks amazing but it mostly doesn't look like TES. the NPCs don't look like TES. most towns look generic and shit because they don't look like TES. Shivering Isles looks like TES. And the Imperial Orrery too but that's about it.

>we want the normie audience

exactly.

>dude bugs haha
>fallout 3 had a few
>skyrim had a bunch
>fallout 4 was packed
>okay guys come on now please use a new engine
>fallout 76 happened
They refuse to step out of their comfort zone and learn to code in a new engine.
Even normies know how buggy their shit is, going to be amazing with skyrim 2 and that space game if they continue with that two decade old engine.

The more I think about fallout 4 the more I realize how just not fallout it is.

hope you like fucking clutter simulators.

Fallout 4 was horrible, then the mod community was ruined by Bethesda
Everything since and including Oblivion has been worse than their last release
but the plebeians only noticed when 76 became a meme because they're retards that can't digest anything else

Right after daggerfall. Most of you are too young to know this but Bethesda developed and sponsored a huge shit of ton games between then and Morrowind that out right failed. Morrowind was a lucky break, but they lost the talent from daggerfall and would clearly never recover.

youtube.com/watch?v=r7AgLSWFz9k

If the fanbase could forgive Morrowinds combat and Oblivions scaling I don't think voiced protag is a deal breaker.

Fallout 4 was the first bethesda game I got bored off after just a couple hours. FO3 wasn't a masterpiece either but it at least had a fun modding scene

What year did they open?

When they started trying to appeal to a wider market so before Morrowind.

My name is Paladin Chad, and I hate every single one of you. All of you are unclean, disgusting outsiders who spend every second of the day banging rocks together. You are everything bad in the wasteland. Honestly, have any of you ever collected any tech? I mean, I guess it's fun making fun of people because of your own insecurities, but you all take to a whole new level. You are even worse than those damn nerds in the Institute, all your tech should be confiscated.
Don't be a stranger. Just hit me with your best shot. I'm pretty much perfect. I mastered the use of automatic rifles at 15, and explosive ordinance when I was 18. What weapons can you use, other than your flaccid cock when your entire family get killed by raiders. I can also use heavy weaponry, and have a banging hot set of T-60b Power Armor (just installed a jetpack, shit is SO cash.)
You are all faggots who should just OD on Med-X and die. Thanks for listening.

Imagine justifying being a normie by role playing

>using a 20 year old engine
Just remake fallout 3 in unreal engine 4 already.

Based Grandpa with his shitty old meme

Fallout 76. No story line, no thanks. Also the SJW garbage in 76. The SJW modding. Banning people for making gay jokes.

Morrowind. It was the first title they started to scale back shit for console users in mind.

they weren't flat out fucking bad though you still got choices, kind of hard to expect all of that from bethesda, skyrim is the beginning of the descent

Every faction post war was lead by a female.
Every faction post war cratered due to incompetence.
How is that SJW?

There is a reason restera hates Bethesda.

>fallout 3 had a few
Thing was completely unplayable for a few weeks after release. It was bad if not even worse then new vegas on release

That is a lie.
NV didn't even work for everyone on release.

It was the same for fallout 3 if old form posts are anything to go by.

They aren't.

It was.

After Daggerfall, Redguard started the action adventure “every world is a theme park” design they’ve used since. Look at Morrowind, yes the world is nicer but they started to strip out the elements that make the world believable. Every game since has taken away the ability to role play more and more in favor of making the player the center of every quest and world event.

No. You are wrong.

Fo4 had way less bugs than Skyrim when it was launched.

Skyrim. It's success was the final deathblow. They have literally no reason to not have ES VI be just as dumbed down if not moreso than Skyrim was since it sold so insanely well. I have no hope left for it.

fpbp. Zoomers won't remember it, but I do, all too well.

K, bye.

It was the death of the expansion pack. Bethesda opened the Pandora's box of microtransactions as we know them today. They set the bar and asked everyone else "How low can you go?"

Morrowind

morrowind on xbox

Yeah these are great, but it was a little depressing to know Bethesda was a shitty company from the beginning. Seems like they just had the right people at the right time. Also confirms Tod is a retard for applying minimalist design to open world fantasy RPGs. We'll literally never get another good Elder Scrolls game with him still in charge.

fun fact:you could literally make debt in Daggerfall and then go to court because of it or avoid it if you're sleazy enough.

Ouch

After the final Skyrim DLC

Bethesda changed entirely after Skyrim ended.

Remember Skyrim had no shitty season pass no shenanigans whatsoever even Oblivion had some shitty DLCs that should have been in the game as free updates.

>that Tim Cain quote about Fallout
>another Todd Howard quote in harsh contrast about TES:
>"man, fantasy is all about being a knight on a horse and killing shit lol"

Morrowind is an improvement over Daggerfall in every possible way. If your idea of roleplaying is to dump points into a skill so obscure that you will get literally ONE piece of different flavour dialogue in an entire playthrough then fucking yikes. While I loved the range of Daggerfalls skills, the truth is most had no tangible impact on gameplay. Same for all the fluff like owning a house, banks and ships.

This unironically. They jumped the shark and enough people fell for it that they just never stopped.

Daggerfall.

when they started listening to Pete Hines.

I couldn’t make myself finish it. Half the fun of the fallout games is the roleplay and character building aspect and FO4’s voices protagonist and terrible perk system kill it.

Someone convinced me not to pre-order Doom eternal from them. I'm so tempted but I also feel like it's just going to be another fallout 76 at this point

Don't pre-order shit until they fix that awful UI.

Fucking cunts there was nothing wrong with the 2016 design.

Never per-order anything from Bethesda, ever, it's a really fucking big mistake.

still remembering how mad Yea Forums was about Skyrim when it came out 8 years ago for having:

>no spears
>no mysticism
>no classes
>no permanent birthsigns
>no acrobatics
>no athletics

>Tim Cain
The dude changed in recent years.

>engine
No, the engine is not the problem, Bethesda have the source code, they can open it up, and update with whatever they want, Bethesda is just incompetent, they can open a position for engine development, hire some experienced engineers, and rework the code correctly with good patterns and designs, but, that is actually work, and and the rest of team will need to relearn the tool from scratch, which is also work, and Todd is a lazy piece of shit, who hates doing things.
Larian had working ladders on Divinity Ego Draconis, Bethesda is just lazy.

Just pirate post release/update, unless you really need to play on launch day for whatever reason.

And none of that mattered at all did it?

When they noticed the senpaitachi are adopting brand loyalty and decided to push the envelope. I wonder if they even know if they're aware how far they have pushed.

it did matter until some gracious soul modded most of that in. now fuck off, Todd.

Basically captures my thoughts exactly, with Oblivion they were clearly pivoting to "lore doesn't matter we need settings that don't challenge the players preconceived notion of a fantasy setting".

Worse, they seemed to stop innovating after Oblivion on all future games. Combat Fallout basically just added VATS (aka freezeframe and insta damage) as Elderscrolls just simplified magic more while combat stayed "click to swing, but now without skill rolls in the background". Compare this to Kingdom Come: Deliverance which actually cooked up a new take on combat.

Acrobatics and Athletics were the best thing ever and I'm still mad about it.

Bethesda game studios doesn't make Doom. You shouldn't dismiss an Id Software game just because Bethesda publishes it. There's no reason to boycott it as far as I can tell.

Yeah it would be nice to have a perk tree for Athletics in the game.
There's no way to increase movement speed in vanilla.

The whole thread is filled with loaded questions. Shills you have to go back. Nobody actually participates in these types of threads except redditors getting tired of reddit.

Back when game journalists weren't paid off.

what a gem

This whole thread is based on the slow boiling frog technique and look what that does to society. Bethesda does everything better than every other company. Name me a company that's better.
