Building something like a dwarf fort is super easy in survival since you're just carving material away and not adding much compared to a fresh structure

The building mechanics in minecraft suck. Maybe you'd have a point if you were talking about a game that let you extend ledges without needing to awkwardly crouch over the edge and even more awkwardly build a block over the air you're standing on, but sadly minecraft doesn't even do that.
You can't even control the orientation blocks will be placed, it's entirely decided by the direction your facing, leading to even more awkward building requirements.

Isn't the problem the specific implementations, rather than the concepts themselves? The End is a really neat idea, but when I have to spend an hour or more looking for an End City with nothing else to see but the same yellow blocks and purple "trees" I get really fucking bored. If there were something else there, to make it worth exploring, or if there was some way of traveling quickly in the End, that didn't rely on you first finding an Elytra and bringing a bunch of firework rockets, it would be a lot less aversed to going there. Hunger, similarly, isn't a bad idea, it just suffers from bad implementation. It should give you a proper buff if you're well fed, and only when it goes really low should it apply a penalty (like no health regen). The constantly shoving food into my mouth in combat is what kills it

How would you fit a rotating 3x3 light in a 5x5 box? I can imagine a 2 high light fed from the top and bottom, but there isn't even room for separate repeaters in a 5x5.
Think I'd have to go much larger scale with it to do that, which would break perspective with the rest of the world.
I'd sooner just have pistons put a block in front of the lights to turn them 'off'.

I really want something between wool and concrete. Not as smooth as concrete, but not as "light" as wool - something I would actually feel good building with. Oh, and fucking slabs and stairs of every building block in the game. It's so hard to add color in a good way. Terracotta is great for wallpapers, but it's too muted for exteriors

if there is one thing the minecraft updates have gotten right, it's the villagers; there is literally nothing more fun to me than walling a village in and building a castle for it to rule over, with the combination of absolute freedom in landscaping and construction and the quasi-city running mechanics it's already a better game for advancing a civilization than many others

here's a comfy shot from my town i'm growing right now, all i can hope for is a future update that allows the conscription of guards to man the walls and towers and maybe some sort of natural disasters or additional town-management elements or mobs that can damage/destroy blocks to simulate raids that aren't just shitty pillagers bouncing around hopelessly like the bots they are outside my walls while i pick them off alone with arrows

I am on 1.14, but I don't remember the textures being that different when I first reinstalled. But then again I started using that texture pack again almost right away

I made a Buffet wooded badlands world. No animals, no villages, only way to get leather is from fishing and wandering trader llamas.
Went to a stronghold just to raid the library.
Finally cured a zombie villager and now have 20 mending books.

I've never been a fan of that. Partly because vanilla villages have an 80% chance of being butchered during generation because of terrain height differences. I always cure 2+ villagers and start my own village. Which I then wall in and lord over

I think it would be a good idea if Ravagers could charge and break through blocks. Normally I'm completely against the idea of mobs that can casually fuck with the world like Endermen but if you trigger a raid, you're obviously looking for a fight. Would be cool to see them punching holes through village defenses and seeing a mob of illagers burst through after them.

The change to netherrack is the only one that gets me. I prefer the new textures, but the new netherrack looks kind of... dull? Less nether/hell-ish I guess

I've been using PureBDCraft since like, 2012 probably. A lot of people seem to dislike it, but I always liked the colors and I think the style suits the blocky visuals. My PC is too shit to run the best res ones though

What's going on off in the distance?

I think it was on my 4th minecraft server where I just went around and made watchtowers on like every 500 coordinates to figure out our surrounding areas.
This was before maps, and we had no map plugin so it was exciting to explore and figure out what land we had around ourselves.

A few years ago I was playing on a friends server with lots of FTB mods. I would use a portal gun to move villagers to one common fortified town, it was big enough that a few golems appeared.
I want to set up a world with mods, but a few months ago I started a 1.13 vanilla as a server on a mac mini I had lying around. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and start a new one, since 1.12 is where all the mods are.

I don't dislike it enough to change back, but I wish they'd make it look more like flesh and less like red cobblestone. In general the new textures are way better, since a lot of the older ones relied on stark contrast that made certain blocks (like cobblestone) eye cancer

I think the main reason they changed them to be a lot smoother is that a lot of the newer blocks they were adding were gradually getting that art style. It meant there was a clash with blocks like old mossy that looked strange compared to say, a lapis block. You can go in your resource packs and activate "Programmer Art" if you want the original btw

I actually set up my own resource pack because I wanted better glass textures without anything else changing, so I could just copy over that exact texture. You're right that it would clash with with most other blocks though, which is why I haven't. I'm not an artist or I'd make a slight change to what's there to make it feel more like what I want it to

not sure, i never did any of the metagame-y min/max farming stuff like that, that method probably still works but i know for a fact without extra beds it's impossible for breeding to be successful and without food it's only a 1/5 chance daily for breeding to occur in general. in my opinion it's a lot easier and a lot prettier to just build a big villa or tavern with a half dozen or so beds and just let them farm and do their thing, i don't micromanage their growth at all but with the accommodations i've provided for them they breed like rabbits
