For whatever reason if a female anthro is too sexual they usually don't get porn. Candy Kong is less popular than Tiny. Tawna? Less popular than Coco. And it goes on like that.

The only times I remember an intentionally sexy female being well received is Classic Lola Bunny or Krystal from Star Fox.

Dixie looks like a literal monkey no different from Krusty the Clown's assistant especially since she cannot speak. She's literally an animal noise making beast. I mean even Nala from Lion King is more "anthro" than that.

On a wholly separate note, anyone else find it strange that in DK's series exists fantasy creatures like faeries, mermaids, etc but no humans? I mean we see Donkey Kong Vs Mario, but in DK's actual games humans don't exist at all. Kind of strange. And yet in Mario's games like Mario 64 we saw a literal talking monkey interacting with Mario.

Relevance is a massive factor to this kind of stuff. People weren't drawing characters like Kazooie for the longest time until Banjo and her got announced for Smash. Although Coco actually did start gaining relevance before the N-Sane Trilogy was announced because one popular artist began drawing her frequently, and that's usually how Flavor of the Months start. BigDad drew Gaz a ton and suddenly there was a huge influx in Gaz. Then there was the Zero Suit Fox stuff that became popular a year or two ago. It all depends on who's drawing them, and if they're relevant to some degree. Someone like LordStevie contributed a lot to people remembering Candy Kong and drawing porn of her.

A character's personality is also largely a factor when it comes to personality. Coco had more of a defined character as the younger sister who was a bit snarky but loved her brother and was also really smart. Rouge the Bat is a sultry, sexy character that takes what she wants. Krystal has an accent, so that makes her unique, and she's also one of the very few leading female characters in Star Fox (even if she wasn't originally from that game, but I digress). Tawna was a character that existed for pretty much a single game and was replaced with Coco in all future games, and she didn't start gaining relevance until the N-Sane Trilogy reintroduced her, and the Trophy Girls/Nitro Squad are the same now because of CTR Nitro-Fueled. They were put directly into the spotlight and got a lot of attention from artists, so they got a bunch of new content.

Alopex was also a major waifu for Yea Forums for awhile, and that no doubt contributed a lot to the content that she ended up receiving. With someone like Maid Marian, it's quite easy to see why she would be popular by default, considering that Disney's Robin Hood was no doubt a large part of a lot of kids lives growing up, and how most people realized that they had an affinity for anthropomorphic animals. Minerva Mink is the same way, although I wouldn't say that she's as popular as the duo of Krystal and Renamon.

They honestly do. Popular artists with big followings can contribute a lot to others that way, which is why so many people commission their own OCs from them to try and somehow gain relevance themselves. Personally, I think it should be used as a way to bring more obscure things to light, like obscure manga, cartoons/anime, video games, etc.

What's ironic is the fact that the Global Rule got changed awhile back to only delete porn on sight, and that on-topic stuff furry is allowed. But of course they'd throw a huge shitfit until whatever it was got deleted.

Sonic characters in general run counter to the idea that characters need to be visually sexy to be porn phenomenons, they're all basically stick figures with gigantic wobbly orbs for heads

It's more about whether or not if you can exaggerate a character's design to the point that you can make them sexually appealing, which is why the thicc meme became so popular. Isabelle from Animal Crossing is most definitely a victim of that. Most people prefer off-model to on-model.
