Since it's pretty much inevitable that Nintendo will release a better Switch given the existence of the mini and next gen consoles fast approaching, what are you hoping for with it? Me personally:
>Larger screen w/ better resolution if possible, but I feel like a larger screen is necessary at the very least. Budget tablets have bigger screens. >Tegra X2 or stronger chip >Better cpu >Better, maybe larger joycons that are more comfortable to hold >Bluetooth headphone support >Streaming support (Doubtful but it would be nice)
Hopefully these things would allow it to avoid the technical limitations that hindered Breath of the Wild, and allow BOTW and its sequel to run at least in 1080p docked.
60 FPS support for every game even if it means it's graphically identical to the base switch.
Xavier Watson
Make a TV-only Switch Pro with NVIDIA technology but still much stronger than the base Switch, maybe along the lines of the PS4 Pro or Xbox One X, or even better if it's along the lines of the PS5. It can still link up with a Switch Lite or a base Switch ala. the Wii U Gamepad and you can sync up saves between the two.
Benjamin Price
you fags don't understand; nintendo has never released a more powerful variant of its consoles. the switch lite had precedent in the form of the 2ds and ds lite. Sure, there was the 3ds XL, which did increase screen size on that device, but the switch already has a difficult time getting 2.5 hours of battery life with its current screen; if you make it bigger, you're only handicapping the system further and limiting its already dubious utility as a portable handheld. The same holds true if you make it any more powerful than it is. Do you see the problem?
this seems like a no-brainer to us gaymers, but something tells me it would be a lot of trouble to start up a new hardware line that likely won't sell more than 50 million units in three years, because most people will already own a switch.
James Baker
>idiot doesn't know what the New 3DS is, LITERALLY a more powerful 3DS that could play games the base model couldn't
>doesn't know that the new current hardware revision of the switch with a more efficient chip already has about doubled the battery life, making 5 hours even on taxing games like BOTW entirely doable
So yea, you're a fucking idiot and everything you say is wrong.
Adrian Reed
If the thing is gonna have a higher res screen, it's gotta be able to handle pretty much every game at 1080p in portable mode. Meaning, a MUCH stronger SoC would be in order.
Isaac Sullivan
at this point since all their games are pretty mediocre and nothing special has been shown yet, all looking for is for it to be hacked before i buy one
Carson Murphy
Jesus christ this. I love it when jackasses try to pretend they know shit while simultaneously revealing themselves to be almost wholly ignorant of the topic.
Luke Davis
yeah, the new 3ds which had all of 3 games take advantage of its upgraded capacities.
the fact is nobody knows what nintendo is going to do, but it's most likely they will not make a more powerful switch, because they don't have the incentive to do so. they don't need to sell more powerful hardware
Jose Walker
>you fags don't understand; nintendo has never released a more powerful variant of its consoles Super Game Boy Gameboy Color Gameboy Advance SP DSi N3DS
Also addons like Satellaview and 64DD also say hi
Colton Allen
doesn't change the fact they still made exactly what that idiot claimed Nintendo never makes, a straight upgrade of a console.
Come to think of it, Wasn't the gameboy color also more powerful than the base model, aside from having color?
Jason Campbell
>the fact is no one knows what Nintendo is going to do Dude, Nintendo has always released more powerful renditions of their portable consoles. GBC GBA SP DSi N3DS What makes you think they won't pull the same with the Switch, their only portable console? >3DS Dead in the water
Henry Murphy
Yes, it was a more powerful Gameboy, then again, the game was already 6 years old or so by the time the GBC was released
Lucas Edwards
good job guys, you got me! I'm not a nintendie historian after all! They're still not making a more powerful switch!
Jaxson Scott
720p doesn't bother me that much. Just remove the fucking borders and give it enough juice so everything hits native res with rock solid 30fps
Daniel Hill
They could maybe even do it now, with the current hardware revision.
Literally about double the battery life. Maybe they could add in a like, boost mode that reduces battery life to pre-revision levels but also ups the graphic horsepower available as it not longer needs to ration as hard
Asher Murphy
Why would anyone trust a retard who can't use google or can't remember 5 years ago?
Cooper Rivera
Docked only and comes in a smaller sleeker box that doesnt heat up as much. I'm not the smartest guy so i font much about how this shit works but I just want 1.6 TF Switch with a better CPU that can run and display games at a way higher resolution, something like Xenoblade even at just 1080p 60fps would be awesome and would do games like Astral Chain justice by giving it a chance to shine in a better resolution and fps
Jayden Nguyen
why would they do this? so they can sell 30 million units in three years for what? why wouldn't they just keep making the same console?
Jaxson Perry
>anonymous image board >video game discussion >trust
How many consoles does Nintendo have to make before you realize they will never give a fuck about graphics or performance standards?
Mason Young
This basically, if they want to survive when the xbox 2 and ps4 comes they would have to make at least an 8TF console MINIMUM to even compete (considering xbox and ps are aiming for higher than 10TF), the conse would instantly get some decent support and good looking and running games especially from nintendo.
Nolan Nelson
but user, don't you know they made the SUPER GAMEBOY? That's adequate precedent for an improved flagship console!
Unless if the pro ends up being a TV only unit with topped off CPU and GPU clocks I think it'd be smarter to cut Switch's life by a year and make a fully backwards compatible Switch 2 a year earlier than planned. So something like a 2022 launch for it. It'd definitely be needed if they want to keep getting current gen multiplats to run on the thing.
Dominic Gonzalez
i don't think nintendo is concerned about third party multiplats. especially going forward into 2022, metroid will probably come out, they'll maybe have a sequel to odyssey or some such, and something tells me it'll keep limping along. It's gotta have at least a five year lifespan regardless of what other manufacturers are doing.
Grayson Long
They always release a new Switch whenever there's a new Zelda game.
They will reveal BoW 2 next E3 for a 2021 release, that's where the Switch Pro will show up.
Josiah Baker
That is true. Would be a shame for them to ignore all those third party devs that started making Switch games after Vita was no longer cutting it for them but they'll probably keep trudging along as they are in true Nintendo fashion like you say. Will be interesting to see if they keep making revisions on Switch to get the price down and battery life up and give it a nice long life before a successor or if they give it the standard ~6 years before they make a successor.
Levi Clark
Not even this just one that hasn't been shot in spine like the current heavily underclocked soc.
I'm thinking these retards are mostly Wiicucks and don't understand Nintendo's handheld division.
Nolan Campbell
Not sure how I feel about a larger display unless it kept the same size and just replaced the bezel, but a 1080p handheld mode would be welcome. Doubt Nintendo would make a different sized Joy-Con too. A dock that up scales to 4K would be cool, with built-in GameCube controller ports for smash and GameCube game ports but that’s just wishful thinking.
