Does this thing have one of the weakest libraries of all time? I think even the PS3 had more games.
Does this thing have one of the weakest libraries of all time? I think even the PS3 had more games
It had several GOATs
Yes
no it didn't
besides the good 1st party and 3rd party?
yes
and im saying this as a fucking nintendo fan.
i have about 50 games for the system i would keep easy, but other than that? fuck it. there is so much trash and bad ports (like starcraft 64) that its just sad.
i still wonder why the fuck the 64 got SC and not PS1?
can you even imagine how bad it would be if your childhood was the ps3 instead of being witnessing the birth of n64
seeing and playing the n64 for the first time in a store was life changing
It has Mario 64 and Ocarina of Time so it's got at least one more good game than the PS4
I struggle to get past 12 games I'd want to keep.
>i still wonder why the fuck the 64 got SC and not PS1?
that's a good question because the PS1 had several games which supported the PS1 mouse.
I'm really fucking sick of all you underage newfags pretending and trying desperately to fit in.
Y'all don't remember the Atari Jaguar, 3D0, and the Apple Pippin. And that's not even getting into shit from before the Crash of '83.
It has 4 games currently listed among the top 25 most acclaimed games ever made. That's more than any console except the SNES
Irony: the post
>top 25 most acclaimed games ever made.
Who and why should I or anyone care?
>A bigger library automatically equals better games
Quality =/= Quantity
The PS1 and PS2 had so much fucking forgettable shovelware that you could fill warehouses with it. Shut the fuck up you dumbass retard.
PS3, 360 and Wii are all way worse and if you don't count multiplats (which were never the best on GCN anyway) than the GameCube has a weaker library too. All current gen systems have a worse library too but that goes without saying.
Yet the libraries are far more interesting, have much more to offer and plenty more worth playing than the N64 ever could.
They are games that this exact fucking board & any other place in the world will be one of the first to name as one of their favorites
moar games gud.
And yet your stupid-ass list doesn't even have the lists of game consoles that I specifically mentioned, you retarded drone. Go to bed. You got school tomorrow. Summer's over.
Kileak was better than that Goldeneye knockoff, everyone remembers Kileak right?
it has perfect dark, mario 64, ocarina and majora
just that alone is better than basically any console and yet it has a lot more God tier title than those
>yet it has a lot more God tier title than those
name one not made by rare or nintendo
>360 has the 3rd highest game count
but how
i cant
your point?
Where did this "N64 has nogaems" meme come from? The N64 had:
Mario 64
Mario Kart 64
Paper Mario
Mario Tennis
Mario Party 1-3
Ocarina of Time
Majora's Mask
Kirby's Crystal Sharts
Smash Bros
Banjo Kazooie & Tooie
Conker
Star Fox
Pilotwings
Wave Race
Harvest Moon
Bomberman
and Bond Burger
>inb4 fags acting like they're above bing bing wahoo
This level of cope isn't healthy, user.
>where's muh outliers
irrelevant and in the trash, right where the n64 will be heading. Including platforms with less games won't magically make the n64 have more.
Star Wars Episode 1 Racer
Stretching it a bit hard with pilot wings, wave race, 3 mario party games (especially the awful first and third), and mario kart 64. CTR is just so much better.
Why cant sonyfag accept that nintendo was clearly superior back then?
>P5
>Berserk
>Yakuza
>Shenmue
>MLB The Show
>DQHeroes
>Edith Finch
>Ace Combat 7
>Ni No Kuni
>3 on 3 Basjetball
>Nief
>Hot Shots Golf
This nibba can't be serious
There are no good exclusives on this list. I own a PS4 so don't give me those meme buzzwords.
>I-It doesn't count because muh made up arbitrary rules that state that I always win!
Fuck off, retard.
>Mario Party 3
>awful
Bitch I'll kill you
Come at me with those blistered palms bitch boy.
This but unironically
Mario party 1 was the one with the blister minigames
It didn't have a lot of games, but EVERY game on N64 was good.
It was, but it just goes to show how unimaginative the series is and how it is not worth playing. The Point Blank games are a better variety experience.
mario golf 64 was the best mario golf
Advance Tour was better
Not gonna lie, Jet Force Gemini is better than every game in that image.
>a console not having tons of worthless shovelware is now considered a bad thing by sony ponies
C O P E
I'll never forget. 2 minute time limit on Mario 64 at Fred Meyer.
I know it's bait, but don't remind me of deep down user, that's fucking low.
very limited library but several god-tier games
zoom zoom
>no F-zero
For a successful console maybe.
Nah, just goes to show how much of an ignorant retard you are for talking about shit you don't know. Point Blank isn't even comparable to Mario Party either.
WHAT IS THIS FUCKING GAME?
what did he mean by this
Zoomers, my man.
Their entire childhood consists of the Xbox 360 and the rest of it's stagnant generation.
I really enjoyed it but then 6 levels in i got stuck on some bullshit. The color and styling was real fucking based. I love old rare
Just popping in to say play the Chameleon Twist games
I just recently got a Nintendo 64 a couple weeks ago, since I had a PS1 back then. I've played some of the 1st party games for it through emulation before but I'm really enjoying the machine so far.
Played through Goldeneye and Diddy Kong Racing (which dethroned Crash Team Racing as my favorite kart racer).
Also finished the ports of Turok and Perfect Dark.
And I just got and started playing Tetrisphere and Bomberman Hero because of how much I already loved those osts. Great games.
I have a few other games for it and I'm looking forward to picking up games like Hybrid Heaven, Goemon, Chameleon Twist 1&2 and Mischief Makers as well as some others I wrote down on a list.
Any other 3rd party stuff I should look into getting?
I only played a couple hours of this because I wasn't really feeling it. Should I keep going?
>y'all
Now try to get an user to make a list of games worth owning on the N64 that is not 75% just your list. It's roughly always the same 10 games posted over and over again. When it comes to other consoles peoples lists can vary greatly
>Superman 64 was good
Ogre Battle 64 is a great RPG but its pretty expensive.
Duke Nukem Zero Hour is good too.
>i will just ignore the fact that for every good game N64 had, PS1 had 5 of them, who even likes Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Oddworld, Rayman, Medievil, Ape Escape, Street Fighter, Crash, Spyro or Tekken lmao
Yeah not sure if I want to spend 100 or so on Ogre Battle. I actually got Zero Hour with the system, think I'm gonna wait until I get the expansion pack to play it though.
Actually it's around 50 bucks, that's more reasonable than I thought it was.
Wave Race is a gift from God, it is not stretching it.
This. The playstation had a lot of great games that at the time people loved and talked about, the N64 didn't have more "great games" it's just the N64's library was so small, those small selection of great games was all people had to play and so they remember them better.
Although the lack of 50 shovelware titles per half-decent game also helped.
Wave Race is fucking great pleb
The N64 also had a (previously) exclusive game that was arguably the first cover based shooter.
I started playing the PS2 version of this the other day and I love it. The way you pop out of cover really reminds me of Time Crisis. How different is the N64 version?
It had the SMALLEST library of any successful console ever.
But what it did have was pretty great.
I LOVE MARINA
The difference is that a lot of those games didn't stand the test of time. I can't go back and play half of that shit because the realistic graphics are jarring.
Nope. Switch. Mario Odyssey, Breath of the Wild, Smash Ultimate...... and that's it. Rest is either ports of Wii U games, awful new games that are forgotten after a month (remember Fire Emblem Warriors? Or Kirby Star Allies? Arms? No? Exactly.), and half assed ports of 3rd party games.
Breath of the Wild is on Wii U user.
You could say that about any console this gen. Games havent been that exciting.
So that leaves TWO games worth giving a shit about. Fucking ouch.
60 minigames in 1: carnival extravaganza
thats because many other consoles are filled with shitgames that only people who are really into a specific genre could ever look past the multiple negatives of. Take the ps1 for example. Sure, crash is all good, but you only need to play 1 spyro game in your entire existence, and are you really going to try to tell me that, say, FFT or Vagrant Story is worth anyone's time?
>who even likes Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Oddworld, Rayman, Medievil, Ape Escape, Street Fighter, Crash, Spyro or Tekken
Half of those are SHIT. The other half are great though. And that pretty much sums up the PS1's library: Around half the games that people remember it for just weren't that good.
Let's see. For Xbone, PS4, and PC, we have...
>Spider Man
>Red Dead 2
>Horizon: Zero Dawn
>Witcher 3
>Bloodborne
Compare that to the two games the Switch has, and your statement is bullshit.
>God of War
>Days Gone
>Devil May Cry 5
>Metro Exodus
>RE2 remake
>Uncharted 4
>Nier: Automata
>Monster Hunter World
>Persona 5
>Crash N Sane Trilogy
>Spyro Reignited Trilogy
>DOOM 2016
>Fallout 4
>Dark Souls 3
>Dishonored 2
>Battlefield 1
Ah shit I fucked it up and put the conclusion in the middle
I'd say Wii U was weaker. N64 could at least stand with some good first party titles and a good handful of third party gems (and hidden gems like Snowboard Kids.)
Wii U was only the first party stuff, and even then some of it was lacking.
>rayman
The PlayStation remake was developed by Ubi Soft Shanghai, and is the first version to have the characters speaking real languages (English, French, German, Spanish and Italian), replacing the gibberish spoken by the characters originally. Numerous level design changes were made, and some levels and cutscenes (namely the fake ending seen if the player accepts Jano's offer) were removed altogether. There are only 800 Yellow Lums in this version, with the scene of Razorbeard eating a Yellow Lum being changed so that he would eat a Red Lum instead. Characters like the Ninjaws mini-boss that first appears at the end of The Sanctuary of Stone and Fire are exclusive to this version, and characters that did not have speaking roles before, such as the guardians Axel, Umber, and Foutch, now speak to Rayman when he confronts them.
Blast Corps
Chameleon Twist 1-2
Hybrid Heaven
DK 64
Snowboard Kids 1-2
Goemon
Yoshi's Story
Turok 1-2
SW Shadows of the Empire
Sin & Punishment
There are surely more games that I had played and would recommend owning but I just woke up and can't bother putting any more effort remembering what I played and enjoyed 20 years ago into this.
>no ISS64
>no Mystical Ninja Starring Goemon
World Driver Championship
>Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy, Oddworld, Rayman, Medievil, Ape Escape, Street Fighter, Crash, Spyro or Tekken lmao
half of these games weren't even exclusive to PS1
Why do these threads always end up with flame wars?
I love both the Playstation and N64. Really never understood it, and yes I do know where I am. It doesn't change the fact that it doesn't make sense to begin with.
So is this actually good? I keep looking at it because 2 local stores have it for cheap.
Does Sin and Punishment emulate alright? I'd prefer not to mod my system.
For Sin and Punishment, you can just buy the cart and then change the backshell to a U.S. one. Just get some throwaway N64 game as the donor cart.
>So is this actually good?
It is, but it's got a hell of a difficulty curve at the beginning. Get past that and it's golden.
The graphics are pretty incredible, though the music is average at best.
It launched with three games and took like a year for Turok to come out
When modern video games can't even do water physics as good as wave race 64.
fok year
Maybe old xbox ports?
Just looked up the soundtrack and yeah I'm not really feeling it. Is there an option to turn off in game music so I could play some atmospheric dnb or lounge stuff over it?
Never even thought of that.
Mario Sunshine has amazing water
>Wave Race
>Mario Party 3
>bad
Look at that shit we need a new wave race fuck me I would kill to have races with Yea Forums online.
PS3 has no games was only true during the first couple of years of its lifespan. By the end of the generation it had lots of good games, especially if you include multiplats.
The N64 had fuck all even including multiplats.
>The N64 has games I don't like. That means it has no games!
>The N64 had fuck all even including multiplats.
That’s a dumb comparison zoomer. N64 was released in an era where game engines designed for multi-platforms didn’t exist and each console had radically different hardware to others.
That being said, the N64 does have quite a number of multiplats but everybody just pretends they don’t exist (Shadow Man, Rush 2049, Rahman 2, etc) while treating PS1’s multiplats (Resident Evil, Tomb Raider, Final Fantasy VII) as exclusives.
>So is this actually good?
It's OK. Nothing special.
All these years later SNOYbois are still insecure over the fact that the N64 had tons of genre defining games while the only thing the PS1 defined was the use of FMV to take up disc space.
Plus at the N64 was when consoles games were making the jump from 2D to full blown 3D it was not simple.
Fuck no, N64 had a small library but it was small with a big chunk of god tier genre defining classics.
If you want a real shit library look at the fucking Wii U.
