In some aspects it is more realistic, but that's not strictly the only reason it's better. It's a culmination of better ai, physics, and overall gameplay mechanics.
Not to mention a much better story with actual missions compared to V's cinematic boring ass horse-shit storyline.
IV felt like a true GTA, almost like a revised III whereas V tries so hard to copy San Andreas that it completely fails and has no actual identity. I still believe it's a great game though, just not a great GTA game.

I'm in the process of replaying IV for the second time this year, I play V about twice a year and IV maybe 3 times if I'm feeling it.
But I guess it's pretty easy to claim I don't play them you fuckin fag-lord

IV is so shit and those shitty "real" physics were like moving a wagon full of water with two wheels the worst part of the game aside from the ass boring city

It only makes sense for a car game like GTA to have a learning curve for driving. It also was really rewarding to master driving in GTA 4 since it gave you a huge advantage over other players online. And when you crashed your car the advanced physics always made it look fun and interesting.

It's sad how much these things were downgraded in GTA 5.

GTA got boring after san andreas. They went on to focus more on story than have more side missions and minigames so fuck that shit.

Calm down you putz. Mods can't fix the broken ai and while the euphoria mod definitely improves the shit physics, it still can't get them to be on par with IV, RDR1, or Max Payne 3.
It's fucking embarrassing and Fallout-fag tier that you have to rely on mods to fix the game.
Not to mention the game breaks every other week when they update the shit online mode
