How your questing going lads?
Daggerfall Unity
Better than your thread.
All the other geezers have headed back to the codex.
just finished all main quests, max rep and rank in all guilds, and did all daedra summoning quests
now what
>geezers
the threads were booming a few days back what happened?
do it all again with new build
Play stone soup
How the fuck do i make this run in higher resolution or use a controller.
I used pic/related ages ago with not too much haggling around in the MS-DoS version
now play through arena or even morrowind!
is there porn mods
t. gamer
For some reason, texture mods that are loose files don't seem to be working for me. Is there some setting somewhere I have to change to enable them
?
There is a thread discussing a possible prostitution mod on the DFU forums, but I think it will just be the fade to black type thing. Have patience, the porn will prevail
Nevermind, apparently the ebony dagger is just broken on the hi-def weapon sprites mod
They got bored/satisfied with this game and moved on to the next thing
what if I want to be the prostitute
>go to city
>get arrested for criminal conspiracy
>go to another city
>get arrested for criminal conspiracy
>go to another city
>get arrested for criminal conspiracy
>go to another city
>get arrested for criminal conspiracy
>go to another city
>get arrested for criminal conspiracy
>go to another region
>repeat
What the flying fuck is going on? Did my save game get corrupted? I quiet literally dindu nuffin.
Stop being a redguard.
I'm a Breton with a personality > 80
user everything is done through text style boxes m8
I'm having a strange issue where I will suddenly jerk forward when moving in dungeons. It happens much more often while sneaking, but it also happens while running.
Hopefully HDoom tier animation will be possible. There are quite a few more sprites in Daggerfall, so it would be quite and undertaking though.
Did you try lowering the resolution to see if it helps?
Should you start seeing adamatine weapons this early I'm only level nine haven't even done the sentinel questline yet
the material progression is not really balanced. you'll be seeing daedric weapons before level 15.
oh that's kind of neat,I'am I reaching enough coin to buy a house or ship at 10000 gold coins?
A small ship is 100000 and a large one is 200000. go to a bank to see house prices
imagine being this autistic
I mean have you SEEN what people have been coming up with for random quest for this game m8 it's amazing!
rate my build
>not a single weapon skill
What are you playing as some rich nobleman or women?
are you playing this the archaeologist's guild mod?
You started a quest that put you up against an actual conspiracy. It's an esteemed Merchant that is framing you and manipulating the law to have you arrested and kicked out because you were snooping around and asking questions. At least, that's suppose to be the quest.
It's because your legal reputation in the region is low. You're getting caught committing crimes too much. Once you see the "do you want to surrender to the city guards?" screen that means a guard has damaged you and your reputation is tarnished. From then on you can be charged with criminal conspiracy in the region which will further lower your reputation, creating a self fulfilling cycle. Just go to another region and lie low for several months until your rep cools off, or get lucky/savescum for the random merchant quests that can fix your legal rep.
Holy shit Adventure Art, is that you? I was wondering when you were going to put out the first video on your Mad Genuis playthrough.
>struggle to have enough magic points at low level to do anything, have to use by dagger to get through most dungeons
>finally hit 100 in Destruction magic
>all my damage spells cost like 10-25
Holy shit
>then unlock magic item crafting at mages guild, boosting Destruction to 115
>all Destruction spells cost 5 regardless of the effect
Is this shit intended? The dungeons were already piss easy after capping Destruction, but this is broken as fuck.
There was a quest where I got framed for stealing some crappy rock, but I finished the quest and was promised my reputation would be restored. However I don't see how that framing would put me on Tamriel's Most Wanted.
Your rep is only restored for the framing you for stealing. If you got caught by the guards in the intermitten, then that rep is still going to be damaged and then happens.
if you took spell absorption you could make a destruction spell that out damaged any melee weapon and gave you back all your mana at like level 2.
Use the mod that can help you by regaining your mana slowly it helps out a ton even at lower levels
name a more atmospheric & engaging rpg I dare you!
Intended or not is hard to say, but that was true in vanilla too. Some skills get really wonky above 100. High enough Mercantile will let you buy items for negative gold (i.e. you get paid to buy them) and then sell them back to the same merchant for several times what they're worth.
>you get paid to buy them
BASED
>excuse me, goy, but you seem to be carrying contraband
>i could make this go away, for a fee.
Lads, creating a character right now. How does weapon damage works? I was checking the UESP, and it says there that strenght governs weapon damage, but agility governs long blades. Is agility accuracy and strenght damage in this case?
>all of that
>difficulty still that high
Probably a strong build because there's a 90% chance he's immune to damage
Agility governs how quickly your long blade skill increases.
What about weapon damage? Is it fixed or does it scale with something?
You get a flat increase based on your strength.
>How your questing going lads?
poorly. to be fair i haven't played daggerfall until dfu came out but i've had missing NPCs for two quests:
en.uesp.net
>investigate [residence]
they ain't no deed there.
en.uesp.net
the investigator doesn't live at said residence.
what do
>mehrunes razor
>literally one shots everything as its ability
>breaks in 20 swings
Better than the razor in Morrowind. It just does a little poison damage and slightly hurts their armor.
Strength is nice but agility is a bit more important, but speed is what really counts in Daggerfall. In addition to movement speed it means quicker attacks and maybe even more accurate attacks. (somebody want to correct or confirm this one?)
Your weapon quality accounts for a lot too, start witht he ebony dagger and you'll be hitting things with ease, whereas using an iron dagger with the same skills would be a level 1 Morrowind-style missathon.
Only Agi influences chance to hit. But if you can make more attacks per second, obviously you'll hit more often in a lesser amount of time then otherwise. Agi and Speed have about the same importance, I would say. Speed also influences how long it takes you to change weapons. So if you want a character that uses bow and short blade, you'll want high speed, or you'll get caught switching a lot.
Image if Daggerfall were to be remade today. Not talking about Unity, but a spiritual successor with far more detailed dungeons, better procedural generation, more enemies and enemy sprites that show the equipment they're carrying (and no more 4 frames animation) etc.
Is it normal for it to take quite a few seconds to switch weapons with 100 speed?
not that guy, but I'm waiting for that newfangled Arena thing some guy is working on.
It also matter what your skill with the weapon is. So if you have small skill with something, it should take a bit to pull it out.
Yeah it's be nice to actually see what type of enemy your fighting sometimes
Am I the only one that used the console to finish the main quest in Wayrest palace?
>get told to find x item
>sure okay
>go there
>spend literal several hours exploring every nook and cranny
>can't find shit, that's weird
>tele2qitem to see if it spawned
>yup
>reload
>use the command to reveal whole map
>the whole dungeon has to be 100 times bigger then your average dungeon
>the amount I explored was a fraction, and took fucking hours
>teleport back to item, teleport to exit and leave
Fuck that shit I don't want to spend literal in real life DAYS exploring ONE freaking dungeon. Also that would explain why every time I enter Wayrest palace my frame rate drops down to slideshow quality.
this ain't your kind of game lad
but to be fair that dungeon is up there as one of the hardest I think
there's a sewer in the castle with a tiny little hole underwater you have to swim and crouch to get through
>only 3d tree mod wants to add high poly models
what the fuck
>mfw my first quest was because some tavern girl offered me a bracelet that teleported me into this huge dungeon filled with bridges and water
I spent the entire day trying to find my way out turned out the exit was behind a double hidden door that you couldn't even see without clicking everything that you can see on the walls
So I heard the game is feature complete now. Nice. Really want to give it a go. Here's a question though: I really couldn't stand the RNG combat in Morrowind, does this game have the same?
Use the map to see hidden doors
>STOP USING DICEROLLS IN COMBAT
>MY WEAPON CLEARLY HIT, I SAW IT MYSELF
>MOOOOOOOPOOOOOOOOM
Not nearly as bad in some ways. As long as you built your character right for whatever weapon you want to use, on average your attacks should connect and if your attacks were blocked, then you get a nice feedback sound if it's a humanoid.
If you do miss a ton, it likely means that the enemy is much higher leveled then you and you should run away.
Watch a video on character creation, so you can get it right the first time and have fun right away. youtube.com
Sounds balanced, though, and a razor implies that it's generally fragile to begin with.
At this rate I think we're more likely to see an Arena remake via DF Unity mod. It would probably come out better too.
Every character should build up their fighting skills by joining the Fighter Guild today! Fight one bear at a time at some guy's inn or maybe a single spider in an attic after you loiter in a different guy's house for few hours. Join today! Or maybe join an Order of Knights, whatever. I'm telling you about Fighter's guild, son.
Thanks for a clear answer. Good tip, will do!
this board has become more and more pathetic. I imagine just about everyone like your picture, including you.
>not joining the group that sells you potions
Heh
>does this game have the same?
Yes but in a functional and sane manner i.e. skills determine hit chance, not your fatigue.
How do you do escort quests? I'm supposed to bring this guy to a house, okay, I get there, and the journal says it's empty but some guy is already living there. Am I supposed to kill him somehow? Find another (empty) house?
>not your fatigue
Yeah, thank god. That said, fatigue is still important. Running out while enemies are around means an instant Game Over, as you'll collapse and it's just assumed they killed you while unconscious. So make sure to either use a spell to restore it, or rest in between combat.
Does the mage's guild have potion services? I had to join some temple to get access to them, the mage's guild I used for spell making and item making mostly.
I think so, other associations also have potion buying, like the Dark Brotherhood.
Anybody using mods? What's everyone using? Any cool graphical enhancement ones?
try waiting around an hour or two something should happen be prepared to fight most likely though
I've never seen a potion seller at a mage's guild, maybe I frequent the wrong guild halls. The smaller ones where everybody hides in a closet sized room.
Daggerfall aimed for the stars
youtube.com
that's kind of weird there should be one in every guildhall your able to visit?
I waited around a whole day, even entering/exiting between waits in case the interior needs to be refreshed or something, and nothing happens.
Been messing around messing with the ship's world data json file. It's a pain to mod since i keep having to exit the game and load save every time i make changes. Anyone know of a better way to completely reload a cell?
I just checked the mage's guild in Daggerfall, no one there sells potions that I can see, which guild are you using?
Archeologists Guild, select DREAM modules, improved interior lighting, PVE Mobs Pack, role play realism, a book spacing fix so text doesn't run off the displayed page, JH quests pack, WAQ, a mod that has updated music, Alita character portrait mod, AI waifu upscaled land/architecture textures, charcoal ghosts
lol was this the same guy who made the fake burger king rant?
Arx Fatalis
Does sneaking in Unity just working by Crouching, or am I just missing something? Is it always active? I've noticed that I got some level-ups on it despite just running around normally, and I also noticed that it seems like the dedicated sneaking button that was in the original game isn't in Unity.
it's always active and seems kind of broken I think
my stealth is 125% naturally and it's my highest skill, despite the fact I never crouch around and it's a miscellaneous skill too so it even levels slow
This nig gets it.
Yeah, I noticed it rocketing up super quickly. That's a weird decision, but I guess they just couldn't get the function to work?
they're both crpgs and they're basically identical, except there is less empathise on fatigue.
just use the right weapon for the corresponding primary/major skill, just like you should in morrowind. it's not hard
>Morrowind
>CRPG
I wouldn't go that far.
>already found adamantium and even a few ebony weapons
>armor is still mostly dwarven and a bit of mithril
>>Morrowind
>>CRPG
What is it then, if not a crpg?
Wht would you need porn mods? The game already has nudity
first-person shooter
an RPG
uhh, this isn't where I parked my cart
Is it weird that I'm absolutely terrified to go into any underwater passages in dungeons and that I absolutely refuse to set a single foot in them?
not weird, but sometimes quest items spawn in hidden underwater rooms so you'll have to face your fears eventually
Where can I edit my character file and remove disadvantages?
I'm done with the main quests etc, just want to have some fun. I can only cast magic inside dungeons or during the night which has been very annoying and I want to get rid of that.
>first-person shooter
An FPS, even though its inspiration was Ultima Underworld from 1992, a first-person RPG that predates even Wolfenstein 3D?
it's in first-person and you shoot projectiles, checkmate boomer
Anvil of Dawn. The overworld may have just been a series of 3D FMV cutscenes akin to 7th Guest but it sure as hell beats just having one big flat empty landscape
Use this one aswell, probably the best price-quality ratio I have ever experienced. Makes me wonder why other controllers are so expensive in the first place.
Pretty sure in unity most advantages / disadvantages don't work yet
So far my combat experience has involved a lot of kiting so I doubt attack speed matters
jesus christ
out of all the damn dungeons
If you are thinking about playing it I highly suggest creating melee only class. Magic is unbelievably op in this game and it will probably discourage you from playing the game long before finishing main quest, because no content provides any challenge for mage. Non magic class on the other hand levels quite linearly, needs actual dungeon crawling to increase its skills, get items and gold and strongest enemies still pose a challenge for you unless you choose to get one of the powerful magic items. There are also things that make game interesting like having to use potions, climbing, swimming... instead of just casting spell and laughing at any issues. Only qol issue is not having recall for easy returns home.
there is sneak key (alt) that slows you down, if you walk or run, there is higher chance of enemies detecting you
speed>>>>>>>>>>>>agility
agility matters only slightly in to hit formula, same with luck, weapon material and weapon skill are most important
How does it play with a gamepad?
T. Disabled guy
It doesn't.
Someone might be able to make a mod
Julian Lefay is working in Daggerfall successor.
www.oneangrygamer.net/2019/04/original-morrowind-devs-recruiting-for-daggerfall-spiritual-successor/82077/
Ok so to enjoy this as other anons do I just need freeware daggerfall and some recent patch to play?
>install DaggerfallSetup
>install Daggerfall Unity
>start Daggerfall Unity and it will ask you where you installed Daggerfall
Some fucking fighter's guild they are.
Ok thanks
