Accepting some rough as hell combat for good atmosphere and interesting characters. It helps to put some thought into how you allocate your skill points early on, but t's not going to be for everyone.

I've seen pics of the model for years but never knew it was V:TMB. When I finally played the game earlier this year, I rounded the corner in the museum and it was just ... there. There's no real tension since you're running around empty halls at the start of a level so I'm not sure how some people got spooked.

I don't know why, but I didn't find it scary at all. I think it was the reliance on scripted scares, or maybe the fact that the ghost didn't feel threatening to me, he could just throw furniture at you and that's it.

I heard some people comparing Ocean House Hotel to Shalebridge Cradle from Thief Dieadly Shadows, in my opinion those two levels are on different leagues entirely. I literally could not finish Shalebridge on a single sitting and I had to take my headphones off. By the end of Ocean House I was more annoyed by the ghost rather than scared.

It somehow got me on my second playthrough recently. Made me do one of those jumps that sends your camera flying 180 degrees, then I just laughed at how fucking dumb I am for forgetting it in the first place.

No. You were playing with the plus patch which changes where you start for that level, and it fucks the whole thing up. In the vanilla game, you start in an area that makes you go down some stairs and the raptor is right in your face at the bottom of the stairs. The plus patch makes you start outside or wherever the fuck it puts you so it's not right in your face when you see it.

Stop playing with the plus patch. It's a fullblown mod at this point and ruins multiple aspects of the game.
