Yes

too much gamey shit to be a good game
>super volcano erupts
>there are no super volcanos on the world map
repeat for every random event

I pirated it, since there was no way in hell I was paying $30 for a browser-tier flash game, and played for maybe 5 or 6 hours. I didn't like it all, and didn't understand what the appeal was. Everyone made a big deal about getting 'attatched to characters', which was ludicrous considering the only things you find out about them are a sentence or two long, and they're these little dots that don't look any different from one another. Not for me.

i just want to torture people but the game doesnt give me enough people to experiment on

What didn't you like about it?

Yes, I got a lot of enjoyment out of it, and then some more with a reasonable number of mods.

It's almost a monumental achievement of a game. Then you get to the level of thinking about dealing with neighbors and raiders diplomatically and with trade and warfare. At that point, the RNG shit will get to you. After a point the game should almost start behaving like a Civ game on the overworld map, and raiding parties shouldn't just pop up on your colony border. A small colony in the mountains away from roads should not get many raids or caravans. Unfortunately I think Tynan considers the game essentially done, when it would really, really benefit from some fixes at that level. Still a great game.

So you have to play games that compensate for you complete lack of imagination, right?

Up until the endgame it is a fantastic experience. I really don't like the idea that the only thing to do in the end game is build a ship and leave. I really wanted to interact more with the world in the endgame instead of just leaving.

I just bought it last week, and I've been having fun with it. My main gripe is that I wish there were multiple Z levels. These huge flat levels feel pretty lifeless, and I'd love to be able to do some actual architecture.

Also I bought a slave from some traders, but once she made it back to camp she became like any other villager. I wanted a slave to boss around and be subservient to my other peeps.

You'll need to look at mods for that.

jesus, what. i'm having trouble starting off and maintaining components before raiders kill me.
you guys are crazy.

Once you do as few colonies you learn the essentials that need to be made quickly and then you can get one up and running rather quick. They're always pretty easy to defend from raiders since they scale with your wealth. Unless you are completely neglecting building defenses you shouldn't have much issue. Keep in mind walls to funnel them into one spot you can spot at them with all your colonists is good enough defense. You don't even necessarily need traps or turrets, though they help. Sandbags plus a good wall and kill box is the best defense in the game at least until you get constant mech armies on you.

I always play with Phoebe Chillax or whatever her name is to give more time between raids/events.
Also this:

Yes. The ost is very comfy

god fuck just how many mods is 3 many? takes about half an hour for my game to just load.

I use the Hardcore SK modpack, it takes like three minutes for the game to first load when I open it and there's no trouble after that.

I liked it.

It REEKS of missed potentials. Also another example of an EA title where modders outran the dev and essentially killed the updates.

Well the dev is a fag anyways that never makes the game go on sale

I love it. I also installed the Hardcore SK + Rimjob rape mod

Is there a list of highly recommended mods on a pastebin somewhere?

Roll colonists till everyone has diverse skillsets that they're at least semi-proficient in.You don't want 3 hyper specialised chef/artists that can't shoot or stab or build. Make sure you have a farmer in your starting 3. Don't bring any pacifists in your starting 3. Doctors are god's gift, if they die then you're going to be in a really (really) tight spot till another one shows up.
On game start, I'd suggest acting in this order.
>find or make a shelter just large enough for all your valuables plus 3 sleeping bags, and move everything into it
>have your farmer plant some food and healroot while your builder(s) construct a basic defensive line
>set up power and build a freezer, butcher station
>build a kitchen and dining room
>bedrooms
>research bench
>medical room
After that you can wing it while you learn everything else. You'll probably starve to death during the winter but don't worry about it.
Mountainous regions are generally easy mode, as long as you aren't going full dwarf fortress, since bug nests can pop up if you've dug really deep.
