I worked in a furniture and electronic store, at the beginning of summer we usually sold in the thousand of those, then at the end of the summer we have thousand of people coming back saying their unit doesn't work properly and they wanted a refund. It's not even that expensive in an apartment, and I don't give a fuck about light switches and leave the AC/heater at 70. My electric bill was something like $50-120 a month, with the higher end being in winter. I can't stand being over at someone's house that won't touch the thermostat or complains nonstop about lights being on.
The cost for both is absolutely trivial.
