What is this X antibody thing I keep seeing and how long has this been a thing?

The jist of it is, Yggdrasil saw that the Digiworld is running out of memory space, so he decides to genocide everything but 1% of the population, with the so called x-virus.
Some Digimon managed to alter themselves to resist the virus forming the x-antibody, which alters their forms and abilities, some Digimon also carry it naturally, like Alphamon i.e.
You're seeing it more recently cause they're making new v-pet's on the concept, right now the 7 great demon lords all got an x-antibody form and killed a good chunk of the royal knights.

The anatomy is really bad but aside from that what's the problem about that design?

I feel the thunder hybrid is also a bit out of place, it doesn't carry the machine feel of Blitzmon and Bolgmon, hybrids are supposed to look like combinations of beast and human forms, so technically Jetsylphymon is also unfitting, but atleast she carries the winged, masked humanoid aesthetic from her previous forms.

Watch the animes, Adventure and Tamers are generally considered the only good series, but Savers is usually also thrown into the good category, though it uses established lore, instead of reinventing itself, like all the other seasons do.
And from there you just kinda expand by reading up on stuff, there's some groups you shoud know like the Royal Knights and the Demon Lords, but otherwise the lore is kinda all over the place.

The design would've been fine if it weren't for those disgustingly extreme proportions. Why is one her braid-chomp things almost as big as her whole body and what's the purpose of that tiny ass shield? How the fuck does this character function?

There's a few times where digimon are forced into a form through anger or negative emotions and it makes them go fucking batshit, for example.
Typically you see bigger differences in the strongest forms from all the sudden power and competence, but again, they're still the same 'mon at their core.
