A lot of the Weird Guy games aren't really "weird guy" tier, Hitman, Total War and Monster Hunter are pretty popular around self entitled Gamers. Grand Strategy probably shouldn't be in "oldfag" territory either.

My dad played Civilization I, II, III and IV. I was helping him translate as a kid the first ones, because it was in english and he didn't know a word.
Then 10 years ago I showed him Heroes of Might and Magic III and since then it's all he's been playing.
