Because Toriyama constantly recycles various aspects of his characters. He's got like 3 faces he can do, 10 hair styles for both men and women. The only thing that has really changed for him, is how he draws the body. Did you not play DQB1? The twist in that game, which was a real twist, sets the player up to think there will be one in DQB2. While keeping this in mind you find evidence something is amiss like 10 minutes into playing.
When I was playing I thought it was all an afterlife because I thought I died in the opening and the Isle of Awakening was the afterlife. I guessed the twist without even knowing the twist. I guessed it wrong, but I started the game with the idea this wasn't the real world.

no. eleven is a Hero (class) with the title The Luminary.
Use of the Zap skill line is what dictates Hero class status. Luminary uses Zap. His grandfather was training to be a Hero (but washed out) and also uses Zap.

If you have a Switch, the new one coming out next month. If you like it consider playing any of the following afterwards: 3, 4, 5, or 8

I'm also hopeful that PSO2 being localized this late in it's life might have some sway with getting DQX in the West. It might depend how good PSO2 does whether it gets people talking and trying to do something behind the scenes.

It is a million times better than 1, like to a degree it makes 1 look like a proof of concept. But yeah the switch version is...not optimized.

DQXI Switch was supposed to be a launch game. It was the first game revealed when the Switch was still called the NX. They had to change to a newer version of Unreal Engine 4 partway through development which is what caused the delay.

Not really. Up until like 8 most post games in DQ were fucking awful. Reused dungeon layouts, possibly some new monsters and a superboss that you sometimes have to beat repeatedly or in a certain amount of turns (or both). 8's post game is only sorta cool because there's some added story, but playing it is still an absolute chore.

I was rarely in the default outfit for my playthrough.

I really enjoyed the extra dungeon but not fighting the same boss 5 times.

The only thing I would say really ruined it is the time travel bullshit where you undo the last few months and erase character growth. Having to re-do all your Zoom points again and Erik's skill panel for the second time sucked as well, but those were lesser issues to me.

I realize what it is. It's almost exactly like Dragon Ball time travel. The thing is it still leaves you with characters that haven't gone through that character growth. Plus I liked Senya with Veronica's powers.

I get that on some level. The first hour or 2 of ActIII really does have a disjointed feeling and not-eight guy that turns all furry (don't remember the name think it starts with an A) just doesn't really feel impactful at all.

They went thru growth, just different. The overall story felt so much more impactful overall than other DQ games so the character attachment is real.
Keifer is the only other character I can think of that had actual growth as a character that could rival anything else. I'm talking in the whole series. Usually like 1 thing happens to a character and then that was their arc, doesn't matter if it took 2 hours to resolve in a 100 hour game.

I just beat Dragon Quest 8 and Heavenly Dias. Is it at all worth bothering with the super post game stuff? I'm worried my skill point distribution wasn't at all optimal and was thinking of just getting the true end and calling it there.

Each time you beat him you get a piece of the Dragovian armor. Thats it. He gets slightly harder but not massively. It really does feel like doing the same thing 5 times though. The armor looks baller but there is literally nothing to do with it at that point.

So what was your strategy? For the post game content and not the grinding. I read that Red and Morrie were overpowered but I never used them since I wanted a more "traditional" Dragon Quest 8 experience. Honestly going in blind is rough because I don't know what any of the skills do. And there's no way of going back if you invest stupidly like I did.

Veronica is much better than Serena, in both looks and character, hell, Serena doesn't even have a much of character outside of just being a healer until act 2.

Make sure to use the alchemy pot to make a second timbrel of tension and make sure to have the Sage's Stone in your inventory.
That is really it. Without that second Timbrel you won't ever being getting fully psyched up, the boss just Ice Waves way too often.
I want to say I went Spears (and luckily the dragovian weapon is a spear) and was spamming the last skill for it when fully tensioned.
Jessica was on heal duty. Angelo was on buff and heal duty.
It was essentially Yangus and the Gov going super saiyan and using their best respective skill in their weapon.
Don't forget to use the actual character's heal spell instead of the Sage's Stone unless you HAVE to, their spell benefits from the tension up buffs so you'll heal almost like omniheal with just multiheal.

That is why I'm so confused when people said it sucked, it was like 30 hours of content added. I guess people didn't like the story twist. I loved it. Act1 mirrors (loosely) DQ1. Act2 mirrors (loosely) DQ2. Act3 brings it all full circle and shows you the original party so you get DQ3.
It is beauteously wonderous how it all unfolded. To me at least. It was my game of the year.

I really liked XI (definitely not my favorite DQ though, I had lots of complaints) and the ending was fine. I guess I forgot about the credits. I probably walked out of the room while they rolled, that, or I had been awake for a few days and my brain was numb. Act III was great, especially another round of exploration. Better than a single big dungeon, in my opinion.

By your own logic, they don't need to remake Dragon Quest IX. Because Dragon Quest X is basically what Dragon Quest IX was suppose to be. It was made simultaniously with DQIX, but had the various things DQIX couldn't do on the DS. Full coop mode, full online play, real dungeons replace the horrible grotto system, full console game instead of handheld, same alchemy and class system IX had, etc. If they really cared, they'd just make a single player version of DQX and call that the remake of DQIX.

Then, on top of this, Dragon Quest XI also feels like an improved version of Dragon Quest IX.
