I feel like this was part of the reason why lawbreakers failed. A key demographic of those hero shooter games were kids, pre fortnite, because the cartoony graphics appeal to them. That's not to say that just because your game was cartoony meant it would succeed, (battle born, loadout) but Cliffy B deliberately bucked the trend and as a result alienated a portion of lawbreakers potential playerbase. I think it's mad dookie. I'm used to shooter games where the entire focus is on aiming at your target quickly, but that gets deleted in GoW since you can just aim from cover. There's no difference between aiming quickly and aiming slowly, since you have all the time in the world. You're forced to play slow and tedious, skill doesn't affect gameplay. There are cool aesthetic choices, and I think the lore of GoW is kind of neat, but it's not the kind of game that you play for the sake of gameplay. And yet, the gameplay is the most influential thing about it.

Nah i think that spacing and correct use of cover is a better system than most. You claim it's tedious but higher levels of play see very rushdown oriented tactics. Games like BRs and shit where you have to move at a literal slug's pace or get blasted by a camper you had no way of finding are what is tedious. In GoW you can actually viably kiplultiple enemies if you're somewhat decent since it doesnt have a fucked up TTK where 3 shots to the foot will kill
