For like a French Bread game. This has cygames behind it, for games like that I put the minimum at 16. Especially cause the characters are extremely simple, less moves and buttons. They don't even need to worry about combo routes, you only have 1 and it is the same one for every character.
But then announcing they have 15 planned DLC just stings, yeah fighters tend to have a lot of DLC but double the roster in 2 years just sucks. Especially cause apparently the first comes out in march, so it must be close to done at launch. A few month delay and the game would hit a nice spot, but fans make no noise cause they are use to being screwed. Instead all the money gets put into single player that most will end up dropping for being too grindy. It happens every time emphasis is put on single player, either people complain it is a short movie or too much work. They should at least pull a SamSho and do S1 as a freebie, SNK even added another free DLC character at EVO. If they can afford to so can Cygames.

This was a thing in 2014, because their way of doing their characters was completely new and GG characters have a shit ton of moves to animate thanks to their huge movesets.
Now, their workflow is different since they are used to it, they can make a character way faster than before and they can make a huge roster like DBFz (~22) because they have less moves than GG, it's the exact same thing for GBVS but we only get 11 characters for the base roster.
A lot of people compare the size of the roster to the first BlazBlue (12), but BB characters have massive movesets and all of them were completely different in term of game mechanics.

I feel like Gran is the character with the biggest bag of tricks, at least in terms of frame data. A lot of his moves can constitute a frame trap because he's hard to punish. Also he wins like almost every clash scenario because his auto combo makes him airborne after the first hit and can link 2 jump lights to knee you and convert into a true combo while also having the invincible and hard to punish DP

spark is when you collect 300 rolls worth of crystals and tickets and use them during one gacha banner, doing 300 rolls like that nets you 300 cerulean SPARKS that can be traded for a character/summon of choice FROM THE ONES FEATURED MOST ON THE BANNER. Doing 300 rolls during double SSR rate means you get access to all limited SSR characters that are on that banner+whatever new character got released

Well you are getting 11 not particularly unique characters and 15 DLC. So kind of worst of both worlds there, especially when there are fighters which do ship with many more. Like they were hyping up the post beta characters as super unique then Percy has a fireball, DP and forward momentum move. I didn't say you'll beat it, I said you'll be bored of it. Mashing against brain dead enemies is different than the mostly passive grinding you can do on the browser. Mashing square constantly against the same few enemies to unlock 1 weapon isn't going to be that fun, while you can play the browser game and do anything else at the same time. Fighting game AI is already dull as you don't get that reactive play style, but the same AI in enemies that will only have 2 or 3 attacks will just be a chore. And from the looks of the boss battle they are just sponges which screen filling attacks

Your medium is your designated neutral button, and everyone's cancel to a special. Everyone having slow ass walk speed didn't help this either. Up close your pressure is identical because you don't have unique block strings, and as I pointed out on hit you all have the same combo. Everyone but Lancelot has a DP like move, Charlotta would be different but seeing as you have single button inputs she can use it exactly like a DP and the cooldown really won't hurt. Only EX moves and supers have serious cool down, and seeing as ex moves don't use meter there goes meter management and characters that depend on meter more. EX moves are just combo fodder, they all have the exact same property in a combo as a wall bounce. Spending it outside just cripples you for a move that really doesn't get upgraded much. That is only going to get worse when people realise that dodge can easily invalidate a lot of zoning. Lancelot's whole gimmick is invalidated by the block button so he has to play even more basic than he should. Unique button comes reminds me of how SFV fucked up vskills. Instead of giving a unique mechanic, it is 1 or 2 specials or normal that don't have all that much going on. Or if you are Charlotta just the most useless parry every. I've seen GBV shills trying to push Kat's as exactly like a FA and that is when I realised they know nothing about fighters.

Everyone can cancel their string at 1 or 2 into their special moves, they aren't all the same. Like with every game you can still stagger pressure and Lancelot can do this well because of the rekka.

Meta will define this, the theory behind the EX moves and cooldowns is strong enough for strategy and can always be tweaked depending on how the meta develops.

Whether or not someone decides to use the block button against Lancelot's pressure doesn't invalidate his pressure because of you being able to tell if they are doing it or not. Someone using the block button on Lancelot just makes his throw game stronger. Using the block button means you can't option select which is bad for you

The only example I can think of for this is Lancelot. You also aren't going to be throwing out random ex moves cause they are multi hit, that is some scrub level shit. Those are also far from the norm, most do not change significantly.

Yes it does, cause you can actually invalidate his pressure by just holding it. His whole gimmick no longer works, it is all about left right pressure which you completely defeat. You can still soften throws so his throw game is not scary, you'll take that throw to completely invalidate his gimmick.

Yep you have no idea what focus attacks really do. Then again you think a parry with the tiniest of windows that doesn't even always get the full animation is a game changer. Gran's has a barely noticeable effect, you do not change how you play, and from notes from people playing the EVO demo Percy's grab isn't particularly great. Once again, ferry is the only character with shit going on

I dunno man, the original idea had Gran kept as canon choice but put him in the coma because his link with Lyria got severed. But at some point they decided to include the MCs anyway, maybe we could have gotten other classes but it was either that or Djeeta, and Djeeta was much less work

Playing the beta? EX fireball on Gran does more hits than both the light and medium (more hits, more block stun and hitstun) and the animation comes out faster. Lancelot only has invincibility on his teleport when you do the EX

What are mixups buddy. If you can throw someone in block stun for longer while having control of your character like with Geegee and fireballs, its an option under your sleeve to keep your opponent guessing. Its basic fighting games but you want to call it scrub shit. Embarassing.

Invalidating pressure means you disallow a character from being able to do what he's doing. Lancelot is still pressuring you while using his unique action and his teleport because you have to use put yourself in a position where you can't tech or OS. Lancelot already has a great Oki game and taking a late tech just gives him more avenues to play the game while you play his game.

How the fuck did they mess this up so bad. You literally have all the potential in the world to make really unique fun characters from a Granblue setting and they just fucking didn’t at all. We don’t even have an antagonist playable. We got a roster that I expected from Relink when versus would have shined a lot more from picking popular or creative characters. I hate thinking about this game since it could easily be so much more and that’s not even getting into the general gameplay as well.
