this must be bait
Otogi :^)
sekiro
>cinematic combat button masher
also if we're being serious, Ninja Gaiden Black and Ni-oh. Soulsborne is pretty great too though and only try-hards hate on it
Im about to be done with my sekiro plat and thinking about starting this, I got it when it was on sale a while ago, I think its some kind of remaster? bought it on steam
anyway, what am I in for with vanquish? I love shooters where you can pull off cool stunts like the max payne series or stranglehold, I also like over the top action like DMC or bayonetta, which one is closer to this games style? I miss shooting shit up
This must be bait
Sleeping Dogs
There isn't one.
Souls/BB are literally the DOOM and DOOM2 of melee combat games.
Sekiro's anything but a button masher, sweetie.
>Ni-oh
>not Soulsborne
I'm glad we agree
no way someone would think this hack and slash press x to be awesome 65-hits stunlock combo vomit could actually be considered good
it's pretty different when you bother to play it tbqh, at least combat wise, but yea some of the design choices make it fit in soulsborne if you wanna go that route
>Press r1 to backstab
Wow
So this is the power of souls combat
/thread
It's really not
>but button masher
>l1 l1 l1 l1 r1 l1 l1
What did he mean by this
oh yeah it is, everything from stances to the way skills are set up
this
>cinematic
>button masher
you either havent even touched the game or dont know what those words mean
as long as were going with the Yea Forums definition of "cinematic", meaning its cutscenes and qtes all over the place, I personally think cinematic is not a bad thing as long as its because of the cool but still responsive animations, awesome boss fights in great arenas with good soundtrack, nice visuals etc, in that case I agree, sekiro is cinematic and its a good thing
Severance: Blade of Darkness

Go back to facebook, grandma.
Look at that thoughtless, effortless shit, and call it good.
Literally any fighting game
absolute garbage

Nioh
that's amazing, thank for the webm
buying it now
>literally mash r1 and roll
Souls has some of the most basic, shitty combat anywhere
>doing a bunch of completely pointless shit
Would've killed him twice as fast if you just stood still and used only R1s and parries.
>what am I in for with vanquish
Looks cool in motion but actually feels like shit.
Simplicity isn't a bad thing. Souls boils action combat down to the bare essentials but makes it feel amazing to play. Well done animations and satisfying feedback on hits are way more important than any amount of "depth" that would fall by the wayside anyway as players would find whatever works best and spam that.
So you might as well just reduce combat to one attack button, because that's what it's going to boil down to no matter how much extra fluff you're going to try and attach to it.
You are not qualified to have an opinion.
Infantile buzzword spamming thread.
Not a single coherent argument.
Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, wow that was easy.
Zelda series
Sekiro
That was easy
Nioh combat is honestly pretty shit. Every action game with the same "light combo, heavy combo, special moves" formula is, because they never make different moves flow together properly. These games always end up being solely about spamming your one best option.
There are so many better ways to do action combat, I don't know why this formula specifically caught on the way it did.
opinion discarded after reading your first sentence.
You are just not cool user. Everyone can be fast but he wanted to be cool.
*sniffffffff*
Smell that? that's what a projection smells like
>well done aninations
>satisfying feedback
>souls
Jesus what a shit taste
Shit taste, severance is way better than souls.
SW JK Outcast and Academy had fun lightsaber gameplay. Especially with console command to allowing limbs to fly all over the map.
God of War.
Cope faggots.
aight dudes, keep pretending this formula works while playing through the entire game using sword mid stance light combo and iai quickdraw
imagine actually projecting this hard
I actually played it like you did in the first palythrough, except I only played katana high stance with the heavy combo finisher and rarely used Iai quickdraw. Only in the 2nd playthrough I realised how much of a chimp I was (you didn't, take an IQ test) and started using the special moves and arts from other movesets and staretd doing alot of parrying, LW, magic, other weapons, etc.
Regardless. the two move you mentioned are enough to make this game top off soulsborne, where you only mash r1

I genuinely believe Monster Hunter has the greatest combat system ever.
Nearly every other 3rd person action game Japan has put out.
Parries and LW are really the only useful things you mentioned though. Point is that Nioh pretends to be complex with its stances and many special moves but it's in practice, almost as simplistic as Souls is.
epic for the win
Nothing really comes close, not even the clone games like Nioh.
Well it's hard to argue with someone who is projecting his personal experience like it's a fact.
>LW and parry are the only effective moves you mentioned
even if we take your projection like it's some kind of messiah statement, it still puts the combat of Nioh above soulshit. Soulshit is comboless R1 NPC gamer simulation. It's a very low bar to begin with.
Yeah, Souls combat is bottom of the barrel garbage. That doesn't make Nioh's combat good.
mention me a 3rd person game with good combat, then. hack and slashes not allowed.
Monster Hunter
God Hand
lol
lol
Sekiro
>why does this game play like shit? is it because im cheesing like a scrub? *cognitive dissonance kicks in* no. the combat in this game is just shit
If the combat is only good if you deliberately play poorly, then it's a shit game.
Die By the Sword
If you think not cheesing equates to playing poorly, then without fail you fall into the Asperger's-autism spectrum.
>bro just go against basic human nature and go out of your way to use shit that you know is useless, the devs don't have to balance shit that's YOUR responsibility
If you have to force yourself to play a certain way, then I don't even want to play that game anymore. I want to just do whatever comes naturally to me as I learn the game, and have it not immediately fall apart as a result.
KH2FM
>that you know is useless
Yeah this is looking like some complex egomania. You're projecting right now, are you aware of that? alot of other people had different experience than you and do not hold the same opinion you do about using other moves and weapon skills. Get checked for mental illness.
I'm guessing those people never did Abyss then.
>autistic
>eccentric
>and a pathological liar
No one who went 20 floors deep in the abyss utilises only mid stance and Iai quickdraw. Get some fucking therapy or stop posting.
You can easily clear even 999 using nothing but, say, SotC. Why are you so insistent in your delusion that Nioh somehow rewards you for using all of its options?
