To absolutely no one's surprise its still absolute shit
To absolutely no one's surprise its still absolute shit
>have a wmr headset
>binds are broken
T-thanks hello games...
I wasted precious harddrive space reinstalling this
its fun
It's fun but this update is buggy as hell. Off the top of my head the refiner doesn't let you choose the amount anymore, the hub is laggy as shit and crashes the game, and certain things like details and NPCs in space stations don't load until you ascend to their level.
fucking found a frigate defense event and the game bugged and denied me an 80mil frigate, fuck sake.
At least there's a save editor
>shoot rocks with laser pointer
>charge ship
>fly to identical planet
>shoot rocks with laser pointer
>charge ship
>fly to identical planet
>shoot rocks with laser pointer
>charge ship
>fly to identical planet
>etc etc
so fun
You could try Engaging the story/main quest, do missions with other players, build a base, etc.
Its really a game where you have to make your own fun, like Minecraft.
If you dont got a creative drive or a desire to explore, then the game's not for you, user.
there is no exploration
everything looks the fucking same
the same flat, boring, recycled planets
the randomly generated animals with the same body parts you've seen on a million other randomly generated animals on other planets
the same fucking robot enemies on every planet with no variation
its fucking shit Sean, fuck you
Are there any games that do planet/space exploration well? I just want to fly around looking at neat things in space, and then land and see some unique planets.
I don't want to have to spend all my time hitting rocks on planets that all look similar just to make sure I have enough fuel to get back in space to see more shit planets.
use steam remapping nigger it takes half a second, pretty sure you can download a profile too
Nothing of that caliber has been made yet.
People initially got excited for NMS for a reason, they all that it was going to be "the one" but ended up being trash. Same shit happened with Spore too.
Not really, procedural generation outside of neural nets isn’t really strong enough to make interesting planets.
Theres a creative mode if you wanna ignore any fuel, money, or building materials.
You literally described all that there is to Elite Dangerous
Obviously you havent played for longer than the tutorial.
That sounds like almost every game on the market.
It all comes down to what type of repetitive gameplay you fancy.
Yeah It's great that they put in the effort but the core of the game, the grindy gameplay loop, remains the same. I suppose it's just a matter of taste, but I wish they reworked it entirely.
so what have they added since launch?
Have they changed the amount of useless shit that fills your inventory?
I still maintain that they don't deserve a second chance. They bald-facedly lied about what was in their game after it had already gone gold. That level of malicious connery is inexcusable.
The profiles page crashes when you edit it, but you can use a setup made for the vive.
Using touchpads to move when you have sticks is cancer
>can't play in VR because the Dualshock 4 controls seem glitched for me and think I'm constantly punching if I'm walking forwards
He's not wrong that the random generation in this game is really fucking bad.
Also this update straight up just made the game worse. Even if you ignore the bugs and crashes, the systems they've added basically do nothing but add another layer of tedium to a game that needs several layers of tedium removed from it.
Nah, they made it a shit load worse. And there is still no decent inventory management and you still need to drop every item manually.
>jump over obstacle
>collect star
>jump over obstacle
>collect star
>jump over obstacle
>collect star
See, I can play that game, too, cockfag.
You can't land on planets though, can you? Not populated ones, anyway. I've seen people land rovers on dead grey moons/asteroids and stuff. But if I wanted that I could just watch footage from Apollo 11.
They made the inventory like 5 times bigger to compensate
it crashes after 5 minutes for me
Yes it is, just developers suck at using it. They want to just use one magical algorithm that just goes on infinitely, instead of bounding the algorithms and using multiple to ones together to create unique planets. But, you know, that would take actual work to make sure the different algorithms meshed properly without over riding into the boundaries defined for the generation of a different one.
>reaching this hard just to defend No Man's Sky
really hope you fags are being paid for this, otherwise its beyond pathetic
Except where your description is an intentional dumbing down of the complexity of level navigation, the other user is describing the entirety of the complexity of No Man's Sky.
I agree with the generation being pretty meh most of the time, but saying theres' 0 variety and w/e is objectively false.
Where did he mention base building?
NMS base building is so lazily tacked on it isn't even worth mentioning
There isn't a lot of variety. If you've seen one radioactive planet, you've seen every radioactive planet.
No Mans Sky is absolutely the definition of ocean with the depth of a puddle.
It's also horrendously broken right now and even when it kind of works they made it wonky as fuck.
I know what you’re saying but they would still get boring in a finite amount of time for me. Humans are too good at recognizing patterns and true novelty only exists at the level of the entire universe.
You're joking right? Tacked on or not, its a pretty impressive tool.
The new building system they implemented wont let you build something even half as complex as that.
What did they change about it?
They totally changed how things snap together. Added tons of stupid limitations. For example, the only way you can place a ramp/stairs now is if it has 1 floor underneath it, but no other floors connected to that one floor. After the stairs are placed, you cannot place anymore floors around it.
There is tons of stupid shit like this limiting what you can build.
So, it's better to revert to a previous version?
>new patch comes out today
>game runs 20fps slower than it used to
>changing video options literally does nothing to the fps
How? Also why is the foiliage 2d now? I couldve sworn that shit was 3d before
If you want to build then yeah. The new building system clearly wasn't tested at all.
Snapping stuff together is like a minigame now. You got to press the button to place the object at the right time because the snap point changes about 3 times a second.
Tons of limitations on what can be placed where.
Electricity is mandatory for many things now, and the balancing is hilariously bad. It takes like 3 solar panels to power 1 light.
>game is crashing
>go on forum
>see other people also having crashes
>a few people replying "NO THE UPDATE DIDNT BREAK THE GAME YOU STUPID RETARD JUST VERIFY GAME FILES"
>it doesnt work
why are steamdrones so overly defensive
i dont know man the game works fine for me
The foundation of the game is shit.
You can't keep stapling and polishing it to make it better. That said, I do feel bad about the devs still working on it, it's clear that some of them have some 'tism level passion for the game, just ashame it came out of the gate crippled and half dead.
Really all they had to do was to slap on early access on the label
I'm enjoying the shit out of it on Xbone, which is arguably the worst version. Sometimes it's Morrowind levels of comfy.
Yesterday there were like FIVE (5) NMS threads on the FUCKING FRONT PAGE DISCUSSING THE SAME SHIT PATCH NOTES and mods and jannies never really seemed to care to do anything about it.
first day on Yea Forums?
What's confusing about people talking about a video game when that video game gets an update?
Seriously how the fuck is this something you consider notable?
good half the threads are about childrens fighting game and characters being added and mods actively delete threads that aren't about that to have more threads about a shitty childrens fighting game with a community full of furries and retarded no sex manchildren
None of that is as bad as No Man's Shite
newfag
NMS threads last like a few weeks then die down smashbabies bing bing wahoo basedscreetch all year round like the smoothbrains they are
