Didn't we just have this thread?

and for the record, I'm building my first level. Wish me luck vee

How do I get started on making a game?
I know how to program.
Is there some place to get free assets?

fpbp

I'm replacing you. Bye.

Attached: shinobu.png (748x870, 335K)

just get gamemaker and watch youtube videos to learn how to use it

Wish I knew how to make a game.

come here I'll show you....

Attached: 457835812084776971.png (96x128, 23K)

Big mistake, I learned more from the user here than youtube video.

Not a lot of progress, i am starting to think of hiring freelancers to help me out with sprites since im getting sick with more frequency and when not sick im tired because of my day job.

what kind of game are you making

unity-chan's face is fucked and totally black. I have no idea how to fix it or whats even wrong.

Unity editor or ingame?

how do i make a game with no artistic ability
say what you want about the medium, there is definitely a distinct difference between pixel art from an artist and pixel art from an autist

it's that test running window for when you're playing the game in the unity editor.

wow same based, i'm making a vn/shmup mockup of gay furry porn

You should start a patreon if you havent yet, your fellow furfags will drown you in money.

I wanted to make a shootemup involving a shortstack gal hunting giantesses.

based

I have worked on 4 diferents games for 4 years each with a different team of 2-3 people on all the projects the art guy/girl disappears with the assets and the game is canceled, i really
hate illustrators divas.

Do VN's count?

i have a basic story written and some areas mapped out, but that’s about it

>an ideas guy bitching about one of the hardest jobs save for maybe the programmer
That's rich.

>be part of game dev team
>just be some QA fag
>dont get to do anything cool
>just make sure the game isnt a buggy pile of shit
if its still a hot pile of shit thats not my fault, if it has bugs its my fault
>speedrunners run the game
>some obscure trick thats really strange and conditional on setup lets you skip a large portion of the game
>"the devs should have fixed this, its too easy to perform"
fuck you if you do this. theres no way to check everything

I haven't worked in it for a solid year, and I've been working on it on and off for maybe 7 years now. ANY DAY NOW BRUHZ!!

Is this the thinly veiled cunny thread?

Thanks

Attached: despair.gif (640x400, 29K)

It's always QAs fault, it's our fault devs consistently fuck everything up and then we miss a single fucking bug it's still our fault. No one seems to give a shit about all the bugs we did catch and get out of the way, just the one thing we missed.

>singleplayer game
>autists smash buttons in a completely unnatural way in a deliberate effort to break the game
>"wow I cant believe the devs would allow this"
they're genuine retards. Fixing those kind of exploits is only important in multiplayer games.

I keep hearing you can be the shittiest artist alive and still drown in furry cash if you lower your standards enough. Is it really true?

Could you live with yourself if furry art started to grow on you?

>want to do turn based battle system
But how do you implement battle system like that with ingame clock? Should the clock stop when choosing action or even in the battle entirely? Or should I scrap everything for more action based battle system?

Thats so good looking stuff

Attached: 1563763857654.png (599x605, 12K)

If it makes you feel any better, it's literally only people who throw 6000 hours into a single game and have smashed every button into every wall who believe that shit.

My personal pet peeve is when some youtuber who can't even be fucked to edit their videos has the gall to call devs "lazy" for UV skinning issues, clipping or prop placement you'd only notice on your 5th playthrough.

built the circular structure and basic layout of this "hub" last night. The grey rectangle in the middle is where the desk will go, the box is where the player will be sitting when they pick there name/class, that little blob looking deal on the right is where there will be an unpacked pack of weapons, and you can pick your first couple of weapons and start your adventure.

going to be blocking in the corridor and the actual structure of the entire building sometime later, as well as the outside.

Attached: hubworld1.png (1225x850, 1.11M)

>drop a spicy bug thats too hard for devs to fix for months
>they decide its now intended
>breaks the rest of the game
this shit was the one that made me leave one company half way through the game's launch. it ended up getting cancelled anyway

this is why i dont want to work for treyarch/activision even if theyre local

It won't so it doesn't matter.

People jerk off horses for a living, I could live with it

You guys are the punchline to the indie dev joke lol

>that slip
nnnnice
Also storm is that you

The way that was worded sounds like your making a deal with the devil or Darth Sidious

pls tell me thats not a real thing.

Attached: 1564007424689.jpg (640x929, 343K)

i know what kind of people it is. it doesnt change the fact that if its not really easy to perform, it doesnt need to be a priority.

>be QA
>do my best to stop a pile of shit frm shipping
>they ship it anyway
>get blamed

>new file starts you and the end

Give both options to the player. Chrono Trigger did that. I dunno if it's hard to implement tho, but if you have doubts, ATB is something that people appreciate when it's hard to them to play a turn based game

Still grinding away

Attached: 9285g_1.webm (1280x720, 2.92M)

A shooter I'm guessing?

>to get this ram bug, you need to be running the game in windows 7 compatibility mode on a mac_osx with drivers from 1993 and with dual monitor display enabled when you only have one monitor plugged in

Yes, furfags are loaded and retarded. Dont use any stretch goal that involves them having a say in the development or the furry mafia will fuck your game up. Regular furfags are people with a shit fetish but the ones with severe autism and deep pockets will have you bend over backwards so many times to meet their requirements by the end you will resemble a spring more than a human being.

Attached: images (87).jpg (221x228, 10K)

I wanna make a game but its still in the planning stages. I just dont want to make something thats a mashup of a bunch of other things I like but I dont feel like I have the talent for something unique

I like it... But what exactly is it? Looks like a tony hawk game but on a speedo and with guns

I am the other guy in the team.

Sounds like you figured it out

Attached: michaelbay.webm (964x588, 2.86M)

yeah, I'm the user who posted in the other thread about making an indie fps.

Theres a class system where theres basically 3 types of weapons, Primitive, Magic, and Conventional.

Magic: Magic weapons like magic staffs/magic-infused guns ect.

Primitive: Stuff like bows and arrows/slings/swords

Conventional: Regular guns.

Theres a fluid class system. (Think Dark souls/Demon souls) So, you can use most of the basic weapons from the start. But as you level up the class you get stronger versions of those weapons.

That's really neat user.
When can we expect to play it?

>mesoamerican titties
looking real good pham
Could be bigger though lmao

I want to kiss her womb!

there better be a titty mod for this

hope you won't get shut by the jews

i do playtests every now and again. If you want I can shill the discord

otherwise, 2020 sometime is when it's out

>tfw game is actually coming along now
Who would have thought.

Fuck you i was the programmer for one game and progammer, graphic designer and ideas guy for other two, also it was with my money american artist are too autistic, first one refused to finish because wanted a lesbian protag, second deleted all his social media after i sent him 500 dls and run away, third did not send anything after 1 month i checked his computer and this guy was only doing furry/pokemon porn for his patreon instead, fourth one was this guy that after one week of "work" send us a message telling us that he wanted a percentage for each copy sold because we were going to use his original designs when the characters were written like a year ago, "but that´s is not drawing" so the character doesn´t exist. Triying next year, will contract japs this time, thanks for reading my blog.

moral of the story is to never trust an american that isnt legally bound by contract

So its not hyperbole when sand people call americans "devils", they literally work like fucking demons.

>ideas guy

>art guy/girl disappears
Hehe, yeah. Artists are notorious flakes.

You gotta work with ones that have a finished game under their belts, or you're rolling the dice.
Even then, as an artist/programmer I'd be liable to flake on any project that isn't my own, artists really fucking underestimate the sheer amount of work that generating decent assets is and throw their hat into a project before getting blindsided with the workload.

modern ones yes. Whites in first world countries are a bunch of self-centered hypocritical fucks. I can't tell if humans fundamentally suck or if it's just because the prosperity of my country produces spoiled shitheads.

How do I think of game ideas

Reminder that art majors are constantly taught about their 'rights' as an artist and how they can protect those 'rights'
what this means is their professors teach them all the dirty tricks they need to be able to completely rip off anyone who hires them, and then how to threaten to sure them for using your assets
>but we can get a contract
There are various laws that 'protect' an artist's rights from these contracts. You can thank big corporations for lobbying so damn hard for IP laws.
tl;dr don't trust any artist, especially american ones, and get a lawyer who knows his shit to write up that contract if you must use americans

I think it's all your fault. Artists deserve 99% of the budget

Attached: 1566411052185.jpg (948x843, 312K)

Baste dab on this fags artbro

I always start with what would make for the hottest sexual mechanic and then try and come up with a combat mechanic that meshes well with it.

Im just a character designer and the two other people haven’t made progress on the code

spoiler: they never will

is there a reason those things sticking out have absolutely no symmetry or flow?

What do you fuckers think of super-linear, narrative-driven RPG Maker games?

Jesus, I never knew it was this bad with artists. I studied computer science in school and we were never taught this from our professors

The best is to make your own game even with your shit art, you can be very good programmer or great composer but your no safe form these leeches, take and example ZUN even with his shirt art people liked his games,

this looks like you'd play one stage and already be done and over with everything the game has to offer.

i hope that never happens to you not but games are a visual medium nobody really cares for the code and they are never recognized, if you work with someone try with someone that´s close to you..

Just give us your shekels subhumans, your game is doomed to fail without artists.

Attached: 1542136440063.jpg (434x543, 231K)

I think the problem is that most people want their game to be perfect since they enthusiasts as well as the fact they spend so much time and so many resources on it. They want only the best and if they aren't comfortable with their art they will roll dice with the artguy, which as we have seen is a dangerous endeavor

>see artist doing art thing
>mention briefly that i think [really specific texture looks a bit odd] and want a second opinion
>gets mad at me
>doesnt even look at the texture
>months go by
>guy gets pissed at something every goddamn day
>everyone tired of it
>get the last bit of his shit done and have one last task before we boot him
>repeat again [really specific texture looks a bit odd] except this time show it
>"oh that does look weird, let me fix that"
>takes 5 seconds to make the slight change and everything looks fine now
>gets fired in the next hour because he broke the coffee pot because someone drank his onions
i wish i were joking but theres some people who need to just do the fucking job and not bitch. yes we all think our jobs suck tremendous dick, but your job matters a fuckton in the long run
in the end they didnt ship the change and people commented on it looking weird. we still havent changed it

>big story
>implication the product is released
>no intention of showing the product or any proof of this story

>ITT: concerted effort by ideasguys pretending to be codeguys to get Yea Forums to direct their anger at artguys

>ITT: epic and steam shills inciting infighting amongst the indie populations, eliminating opposition

It sucks to have no ideas. Damn, where are idea guys when you need them?

what comes to your mind when you read the phrase "small indie company"

Attached: 1552390004821.jpg (637x442, 145K)

>Real Foot Motion
>Target Foot Motion

Attached: youmu.png (414x450, 100K)

is that how fighting games were born

>all of that script
Damn, game dev is just too complicated.

is this an actual issue with "indie" companies or people that learn to code or do art for the express purpose of making a game? i can understand running out of ideas when you're a big game-making company, but i don't see how you can start up making a game but not know what the fuck to make.

just got hired on to compose for a porn game. Feeling pretty alright.

It is when you don't want to make something derivative or is just a gamejam-tier gimmick.

t.artfag

There are a lot of soulless people getting computer science degrees. Their NPC logic routine tells them to "work for video games", but they lack a creativity driver and can only think of mimicking something that's been done before.

How do I learn to compose music I want to make nice video game songs
I went to Yea Forums to ask but that board is an absolute shitshow

Would anyone play a car combat battle royale with platforming?

Smash a bunch of buttons randomly on song making software and then apply musical theory rules to the resulting chaos if it sounded cool.

Delete this. You can't just go around spreading such stuff.

Pirate fl studio and smoosh a whole bunch of patterns and instruments together, and then continue adjusting until it stops sounding like shit.

think of something you like unrelated to games.
>cat
think of something unique about that thing
>fluffy, asshole, gets stuck in shit like a retard, excellent hunters by pouncing small prey
think of how you can make a game about it.
>a puzzle-platformer where you can only "pounce" horizontally and gain barely any vertical distance with these jumps and need to use other methods to climb upwards and over obstacles
it's not a very solid idea at first but you could keep developing whatever you come up with into something more unique or at least solid.

if you think about some type of game maybe not directly related to cats or whatever you thought of, you can then think of ways to apply that unique element to the game, like i tried to do with the puzzle-platformer.
your answer is vague and stupid, but this is one route of many you can take until you develop an imagination.

i had this issue with artist too there are artists that are capable of take one concept, adapt it and create something new but i have i see a lot people that literaly copy some parts of another design and can create something original.

Serious answer as the media composer you replied to: study some theory. You ain't gonna be a farmer if you don't know what the fuck a potato is. Learning theory is not that hard, and does not take that long. The person who founded Yamaha? He was a grown man who never played an instrument. He went and woodshedded theory for three months, and then started selling pianos like an ace.

Learning a DAW is another major hazard. I'll be real with you. I've been using my DAW for like, 10 fuckin' years, and I'm still learning new things it can do. The basics you'll want to cover though is how to record. If you can't play a keyboard, or don't even have a midi controller, step recording is going to be your friend. Play around with your DAW's stock sounds, and then branch out to various libraries you can come across. There are a surprising amount out there that you can get legitimately for free.

I gave up on that stuff for good when I realized nobody would want to play anything I make.

what was your dream project you were thinking of or were already working on? if you had no idea, then yes you were right.

Is it possible to learn to compose music purely on one of those medi things or whatever. Can't play any instruments.

i know you can make music on like synthesizers with all sorts of instruments and sounds without actually having to play any of the instruments. i'm not sure if you can do the same thing with software, but i'd assume so.

Attached: 20190721_102827.jpg (788x123, 71K)

Knowing an instrument always helps, but there's also that meme some schools and teacher pull where they say you need to like, fuckin' put 10 years on a piano before you can even write a tune. Screw those assholes, they just want your money.

I know talented-ass composers who work solely in software. Don't even own a midi controller. And that stuff works for them. Granted, personally I work in high quality samples, so I'm always performing my pieces to get the most humanized sound you can get. Also diddling with faders to give the right vibrato and expression. But at a basic level, you just need to study the concepts you're doing. Learn what a I - V - I is. Spend some time banging your head against the wall in your DAW.

Nothing new. I just like posting this robot.

Attached: clear.png (625x785, 90K)

I unironically need an idea guy/manager to tell me what to make because there's just nothing I want to do. I'm trying to learn to draw as well but don't know what to practice.

Fuck man you have a way to contact

Looks like a one off stage in a Platinum game.

Also this.

Attached: clearalt.png (478x668, 58K)

actually looks like a minigame you'd do a total of like 3 times for Professor Genki in Saints Row 3.

FPBP KILL YOURSELF TRANNY

Looks fun and not like they reskinned shitty standard mechanics to try to fool you into thinking you're having more fun.

where can I follow this project

Most character behaviors aren't anywhere near that complicated user has all of that shit because he's doing it for VR with a fuckload more interactivity than anything you'd see in a normal game.

Getting together the first few enemy assets still, takes a while with how many frames they require to keep all assets consistent. Hoping to have a demo ready in a few weeks.

...

reminds me of volgarr the viking.
it better not be another shitty porn game.

If you are making a puzzle game with plans to publish it, stop
If you are making a platformer with plans to publish it, stop
If you are making a puzzle platformer, kill yourself

>another shitty porn game
I'll try to make it a good porn game, just for you.

Was Portal too intimidating for you?

I kind of want to make a proc gen dungeon crawler with RPG elements, but feel there's already enough of them around and I can't code for shit anyway

just about every single user that's "making a game" in these threads is working on a dumbass porn game instead of anything that might actually be fun as a game.

Got a chip on your shoulder there, user?

>Going to art grads
What the fuck are you doing faggot?

>proc gen
Yeah, please don't.
A regular dungeon crawler, sure. There's a bit of a dearth of really well designed indie games.

Portal is good though.
The number of good indie games that fall into those categories can be counted on one hand
Im saving you all from failure.

Most porn games are pretty bad as far as being games go (especially the typical ryona-style things), so trying something that's a bit work-intensive but hopefully more fun as far as gameplay goes for this thing. Erotic scenes are player-initiated rare drops and found as lore things in the world instead of interrupting the regular gameplay.

moar pls

i will give u money

The number of well designed, well made games in the past year can be counted on one hand. Makes it all the more prime to do it well, that lack of competition.

true enough, most people don't understand what it takes for a platformer to be good, and puzzle games designed by brainlets are just a rehash of shit we've already seen with added tedium.

Mina secret playable character?

the problem with porn games: people who're looking for good gameplay don't care about the porn. people who're looking for the porn don't want any hard gameplay and want barely any gameplay separating them from the porn.
you can look at newgrounds and see the vast amount of porn games trying something "new" and everyone fucking hates it.

You'd think people would look at commercially successful porn games instead.

>gathering opinions from newgrounds
well there's ur problem right there

If the game play is fun, sure

Based

these were porn games established when people were still buying porn mags and shit. you are not selling in japan and you do not have any established series. i was comparing you to newgrounds because that is where many porn game developers post their demos and spout the exact same lines you do.

>spout the exact same lines you do.
You posted a reply to some random other guy.

okay well my bad for not expecting another guy to be following the conversation

I enjoyed eroico, kurovadis, and fotb.
Also immersion is important for some kinds of porn, and that requires a bit of gameplay depending on the type of immersion. Adventurer getting raped by horny monsters for instance, or raping the monsters and enlightening them to the power of cock.

I got automatic texture application working in my level editor, so you can just select a “theme” or style of sprite and paint the terrain and whatnot while it automatically applies the correct sprite to the current subgroup of level parts you’re painting. Took me like a week of fighting with it before I had a sudden realization and got It to work with a simple solution. Also fixed a bunch of small bugs and rewrote/restructured some stuff. Phoneposting so no webm

I wanna make an open world game where you just run into weird shit all the time.
Im very inspired by artists like beksinski and Giger and a lot of the stuff the player would come across would have a simpler visual style to those guys' art.
The player will just wander around, find cool and weird stuff and that would pretty much be it.
I'd also add some random events for some replay value
Would probably release it for free or a very low price because there's no real story or gameplay
What engine would work for something like this?

Attached: images (82).jpg (497x617, 33K)

I have Yea Forums addiction so, I don't even play video games much anymore, yet alone make them.

An indie dev can never make a successful game in 2019
>b-but..
No.

It's not because I hate working.

I have very little motivation, but I manage to force myself to grind away ~30 minutes/day on average on this shit.
I constantly get locked down by design problems because I want to do things right.

Attached: 1561349695778.jpg (388x446, 90K)

>tfw try to make a character
Fuck planes.

Not making a game myself, but made a new work in progress track for another user's game. It's a potential overworld theme, just need to see what he thinks of it. What do you guys think of it? I'm definitely going to make changes to the bells in spots.
vocaroo.com/i/s04DTmNe7HwB

It's still in the "Idea that will never actually be made into anything because I don't know how to code and have no strong desire to learn how to code and the licensing required alone would be a huge pain in the ass so it's not going to happen" phase.

Attached: 1537922247948.gif (446x320, 879K)

what is a successful game by your standards? is it already successful if the dev can live from the revenue and keep making games? then there are already plenty successful indie devs and yes, they live in 2019. does it have to sell millions to be considered successful? these exist too. as you can see, success is relative and your whole post is retarded. so fuck off retard-boy.

>Reminder that art majors are constantly taught about their 'rights' as an artist and how they can protect those 'rights'

>art majors
Anyone with a brain wouldn't hire out of schools unless the individual's work is truly exemplary of their commitment to their craft, which is like one out of a hundred. The reason an art student might learn this shit is because they aren't learning anything else, much less anything useful to their technical skill in art.

Most artists worth their salt are all self-taught or majoring in some other shit to make their parents happy. These guys get the flipside of the problem, where they often get fucked over until they learn how to negotiate and play the business game or just give up.

You are a dumb idealist 19 year old kid who thinks he knows everything because he has a bad case of dunning kreugers
Now fuck off back to r/gamedev and pretend you are a developer.

Learn English before making a game

We need to have this thread every day to keep you fucks motivated.

Correction: You can't make a successful game.

SEE

Whatever lets you cope with your failures, user.

yOU ARE THE FAILURE FAGGOT

Whatever floats your boat, I'll be here working on my game and moving closer to release, you sit there and stew in cope and excuses.

I think I'm starting to understand why this monogatari shit had so many seasons.

why is the racoon naked

I'm kinda working on three at the same time because I'm retarded like that so its taking time to get anywhere.
For now I'm drawing the characters before I actually commit to the projects.
One is a visual novel and two are rpg maker games, all with hentai content.

I forgot about this smug little tart, and how I want to jam my dick in her.

HAHHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAH
Prepare to be destitute in a couple years. Good luck!

I finished it. It's only a mod, but I don't care. It has its own soul.

Post it, user.

How to make games with soul Yea Forums?

Make it with your own soul. Build it with passion, spend time on what matters, don't be afraid to make it reflect your own tastes in aesthetics, mechanics, pacing, music, so on.

Add a lot of girls with big butts.

Soul is so nebulously defined as to be basically meaningless, so just make what you want.

Impossible unless you can draw.

>Artists deserve 99% of the budget
Gotta disagree with you there, Tech-Artists are one step above both normal artists and simple code monkeys alike.

Unit or UE4?
I keep seeing Unity shit having pretty stiff looking animation and shitty graphics, then I look at UE4 and see all those smooth realistic animations they got along with good graphics, really don't know what to try out anymore.

Attached: 1539802599005.jpg (354x352, 28K)

I wanna die

...

Animation quality has very little to do with the engine, but Unity offers very little advantage over UE4 for someone with some experience (which is why you see better results from UE4, since more experienced people will generally use it over Unity).

>since more experienced people will generally use it over Unity
I heard the exact thing but about Unity instead.
Some people kept telling me it offered way more variety or something like that for starters or allowed you to make shit that looks similar to what you could achieve on UE4 if you know what you're doing.

You want sum fuk?

Graphical quality depends on art direction and use of original assets.

Unreal has nicer default shaders, but they're a bit old hat by now and not many people are impressed by nice shaders. Having nice shaders didn't stop Bards Tale IV from getting dunked on.
You can make your own shaders anyway.

Nice. The engine is in C++ so I had to make some wrappings to operate it from common lisp. Now I can do cool exploratory stuff like redefine functions at runtime and see this affect the game in realtime, or change parameters (e.g. debug on/off, sun position) at will, without the need to spend time integrating a scripting engine.

No matter what stage of development you're at, no matter how's your progress going, you're doing great. Keep it up. You're creating content and that's what important. Don't be a lazy fuck who only consumes, like me.

Want to make a ps1 style game in Unity using those shaders. Dont know what kind of game tho.

>I heard the exact thing but about Unity instead.
Who the fuck told you more experienced people would pick Unity over UE4 lmao
>it offered way more variety or something like that for starters
What does this even mean? Do they mean it offers more flexibility? It sure does not when UE4 has source access and C++.
>allowed you to make shit that looks similar to what you could achieve on UE4
Yes, if you're really good you can, see Escape from Tarkov. Doesn't mean it wouldn't be easier in UE4 though.

Already past it.

Wait, no, yeah I do.
Not a ps1 game, but something like Oni.

That would be hot except that I see my little sister doing that every day

I like your concept art better. post that.

One of the required courses for a BS in compsci in my uni was all about your worker rights and things companies can't legally bind you to in a contract.

god i wish i knew how to draw

even hotter

There are no such legal loopholes here so of course we get no such course.

Everything I want to make is too big for a single dev. So I'm practicing while waiting for an idea to come. Since I'm more of an idea guy than a project manager, I'm getting nowhere on that part.

Attached: 1544973491206.jpg (512x512, 29K)

Still below proper programmers

I get you. The only ideas I ever get are legit always AAA tier.

Tell me some of those AAA tier game ideas, I'll turn them into indies.

The shooting feels unnecessary.

Which engine would be easier to learn for my first game?

I don't have ideas that huge, but they'd still need a proper team to make them.
The last two I had were a co-op, pve FPS with different characters and some diablo like with a twist on the skill mechanics, either of these would require a lot of assets.

>character
>planes

A useful strategy is to edit textures in RPG maker as you use them so you don't burn out while changing them all at once.

Go back to the drawing board with the mindset that "Ambition isn't a substitute for compelling core gameplay".

You start with what the fuck you want the player to do and build a game around it, not start with a big epic - or "medium but requires a lot of assets" idea and then scribble in the gameplay later as "x meets genre".

A simple FPS isn't hard to make. Just go for graphics that are manageable for one person. People make maps with custom textures and assets for old-school FPS all the time. Something like that can work.

>not the idea guy, art guy nor code guy BUT the music guy
>can't think of a neat battle theme for an ARPG that doesn't sound like Yoko, Motoi or Nobuo

Attached: 1558076437864.png (480x360, 250K)

Why does it have to not sound like any of them?

Listen to some Soken instead.

I doubt that would really work, plus it would take too much to explain the whole thing, I haven't fully fleshed out every single detail of a story or shit like that because I know I'd first need an idea of what to do or how the game will be played before going into the full story itself.
All I'd have to say about is that if you somehow manage to transpose the fighting system from 'For Honor' into an indie game format while still keeping all that realism and fluidity in the animations while removing all the shitty button mashing combos and making it fit more in a type of action-adventure game, then that'd be golden.

I really thought that For Honor's fighting system had some great potential and could be made to work in great ways if tinkered around with for a bit and maybe setting it down to be used in a single player game or something like that instead of directly MP were shit can be easily broken by move spamming or other different characters. Instead of making it a '3D fighter' make it more of an 'action adventure' type of game I guess, that might fight it better.

I'm not gonna put lengthy, detailed description of each idea like some dweeb for 5 people to read. The gameplay is the first thing I thought about.
But because both ideas would have different ways to play through them, the game would nee to have a significant length that I just can't do as a single person.

The idea is not that simple.

Based simple poster.

It's finished. I did it as a personal exercise in software development rather than an exercise of creativity. But it is finished.

Attached: 1467699472666.jpg (288x288, 26K)

What do any of these mean?

Kingdom Hearts, Dark Souls and Final Fantasy composers, respectively.

Although they've all done games outside of that. Dark Souls guy has done nothing but liquid garbage and fluked with DS, hard.

I want to make a card game-based game like those old gba yugioh games. Where should I start

Probably making the cards. It seems card game-based games are making a come back with roguelites.

Unreal.

UE4 or urho3d (the former comes with good tooling, the latter is easier to "just program" with but requires more knowledge of programming).

As far as Monster Mind is concerned I came for the hot Pokemon dudes and stayed for the puzzles.

Why?

You can make games in PowerPoint?...

Interesting user. Use a fucking engine though jesus christ don't be retarded like this.

Yes, it's pretty easy.
I used renpy but switched to powerpoint for cool animation effects. It's going to be short anyway.

Attached: alpha.jpg (1279x676, 53K)

You'll feel differently when you get to play it. It's a core part of the gameplay

I do have some stuff done, although this project is going to be much shorter.
Half of it being this and the other half being we want to move onto more original stuff.

Don't you fucking dare use Powerpoint.

Part of gamedev is filtering actual constructive criticism from blatant trolling and making use of it, something i probably can't do. At least you have your head straight. Keep up the good work and don't sperg out.

Aw that's a shame you draw the gems really cutely. What stuff is done?
Also you have a whole original game under your belt, what's next after that?

Yep, so far i've been told the colors i use are muted so i am keeping that in mind.

Attached: chibi helga sit idle.gif (96x106, 4K)

I'm not sure, I would prefer a tony hawk 2 clone.

It's mostly intro stuff, pretty much a teaser considering how short it is currently. We do have some more stuff and an ending charted out, but that will come later depending on how well this is received. We're using the project to help establish a work flow between the two of us, and for me it's a bit of a palette cleanser since I spent 3 years making stuff for IA.

Not sure what I could say about the next project after other than it's still very much in the idea phase still. We jokingly call it dinofuck but we do have a real title for it that we'll reveal later when we have something to show. It's definitely going to be more game focused. Right now the idea is you're a woman going around fucking dino/lizard dudes.

Attached: dad_cook.png (1042x1454, 265K)

I programmed the basic behavior pattern for the ai yesterday, but I haven't really tested yet as I have not had the time. I want to wrap it fast though as I have a new, much better game idea that I want to work on. Once this game is playable and can be won/lost/started/ended I'll probably call it. Not really a major proj for me anyway.

Where is Connie?

Been working on a JRPG with darkest dungeon combat.
Kind of want to try my hand at a Megaman battle network clone too, as I don't think I'll be able to make the former any fun.

Fun is so hard.

These gamedev threads are among the rare threads on Yea Forums that are actually fun to browse. Keep up the good work, I'm cheering for all of you anons!

Yeah sure you'll get good looking results but don't expect your game to be done within the next decade if you use that workflow for every asset in your game.

Notzilla you mean, Toho will charge you up the ass for the license, if you are still hellbent on using an existing property try with REPTILICUS or the Milpitas Monster. They will probably give it to you for free if you ask them nicely.

Fuck you nigga. I spent 72 hours straight rigging this cool nigga up for VRChat. Nice.

fotb? also known as fobs or whatever where you walk around getting raped by monster girls? if you strip that game of porn, would you consider that to be a good game with good gameplay? not even remotely close and that's the opposite of what the other unoriginal porn game dev was suggesting his game would be about.

N-no. I don't even like Steelie Dan.

My bro's making a shitty Zombies ate my Neighbors spoof, barely any progress after months of progress.
I'm thinking of making a Metroid fangame, because I hate how every single fangame is just a Super Metroid rehash, literally nothing new, ever. If you see a Metroir game on some news site, maybe it will be mine.

>in powerpoint
this is the most chad shit. you better finish it.

you have nothing to show for it either, i imagine

Nice, I'll be closely following on this, seems interesting. What's the song in the video?

>another gritty horror game
at least it isn't another shitty porn game.

Fobs definitely has very weak gameplay compared to the other two but it's still an important part for many people, which is why I included it next to kurovadis.
