Like 8 years ago I was playing Resident Evil 4 for PC (the first version that sucks), and just after defeating Mendez (the boss of the village) you jump out the burning house and then Ashley come to you and say "Are you okay Leon?" At least with Shintaro it ends up being intentionally funny. Itou just feels unintentionally funny and that just makes it worse.

Usumaru Furuya's probably the best of the trio because most of his stuff has a great payoff. The one manga about the students was pretty damn good and relatable. Best No Long Human adaptation too because he manages to modernize it without losing the soul.

How good is the adaptation. I read the original novel and liked it a lot

I enjoyed Uzumaki and think that was probably his best story. Maybe a bit too long but the ending didn't feel that abrupt and was overall very lovecraft-esque, although I'm guessing a lot of people still think it's shit because it doesn't explain every little facet of everything.

Junji Ito is a bit too fixated on metaphor and deeper meaning to the point that it actively undercuts the horror of his work. Still, when the two things come together, it makes for stuff that will really fuck you up. Amigara Fault is the culmination of that.
