Action game looks deep, complex, and varied in videos

>action game looks deep, complex, and varied in videos
>in reality it's just spamming one attack and occasionally pressing parry when the enemy does the long, slow, telegraphed windup attack
When will this ever stop? When will we ever get a true action like NG2 ever again?

I know what you mean. Webm related is literally that, plus being able to heal at 0 HP with no penalties because of casual pandering

Nuh uh sometimes you have to shoot to keep up a combo. Totally deep not all style no substance combat syste right there.

>wasting all those orbs

yawn

Either extremely low effort 50 iq bait or has never played an action game in his life. Either way, fuck off.

Not really the best example, it was at least unique, and the different type of attacks to deal with each enemy was a fun concept. Unfortunately it is a bit too simplistic and even the combat challenges are mostly about maintaining long combos rather than doing much more with it. Still a great game though, and that webm is inaccurate as he is on lower difficulties, early in the game, and is just stalling doing no damage. The combat is unironically much deeper and more engaging than pretty much any PlatinumGames CAG.

I have literally completed on hardest difficulty with highest rankings pretty much every action game out there. They are just so boring and repetitive, especially the ones from PlatinumGames.

in what world is ffxv better than dmc5, especially the combat

>The combat is unironically much deeper and more engaging than pretty much any PlatinumGames CAG.

holy crap, that is bait

>in what world is ffxv better than dmc5, especially the combat
the one where deluded trolls and fanboys live

>Barry posting his webm in two threads at once
Let me discredit you, once again.
>risk / reward weapon
>does a lot of damage, but drains your money
>you drop even more money if you get hit
>wastes thousands of in-game currency in this webm to make the game look like shit
>despite using the least-viable option in an actual playthrough

>is even using the Super costume to make the game look worse than it is

>Actions game is praised for complex combos and active button combinations
>The enemies are braindead so there's no actual incentive to do any of that shit unless you care about an arbitrary scoring system that offers no real reward to the player

>he fails to see the joy of a high score
Not everything needs a physical reward. The joy of playing the game is its own reward.

BARRY ARE YOU OKAY
ARE YOU OKAY
ARE YOU OKAY BARRY

>play game on standard difficulty
>"wtf why are the enemies so braindead"

I've been completely disinterested in high scores in home console releases since Megaman 1.

I have beaten on the highest difficulty with highest rankings pretty much every action game out there (and could easily do any I haven't done in less than a week). I'm not saying it's hard, but I have more experience and skill in the action games genre than vast majority of Yea Forums.

Batman is a great game and the combat is not incredibly deep, but it is not nearly as shallow as these webm suggest and there is quite a bit of intricacies to it. Additionally, it's actually fun and doesn't let you just spam shit because there are different types of enemies and you must react to certain composition of enemies in different manner and also position correctly since some units can only be attacked a certain way.

Yeah, why?

Many action games don't really change anything on higher difficulties besides just inflate health and decrease damage. Some may give the enemies additional abilities or whatever, but they are still usually braindead and there is little incentive to not just spam the same attack over and over.

I was thinking of God of War when I made that post, and the AI really doesn't change much in that.
