It's 1998 & you can only afford 5 of these games for the entire year, which ones do you buy?

mario 64

Castlevania symphony of the night

Pokemon
Castlevania
Link's Awakening
Half-Life
Starcraft
Super Mario 64
Tekken 3
Final Fantasy VII
007 Goldeneye
Castlevania SotN
Easily Mario64, Half-Life, Link's Awakening, Symphony of the Night and Starcraft
If I can pick outside of that list Tribes, Thief, F-Zero X, Master of Orion II and import Suikoden II early.
OoT, Pokemon, FF7, MGS, Starcraft
Enough to keep me busy for the whole year
Lol I wasn't alive in 1998 and why would I want to play that old shit anyway?
Mgs, Mario, grim, everything else blows
Ocarina of Time, Grim Fandango, Banjo-Kazooie, Super Mario 64 and Dragon Saga
>474159118

Anyone who doesn't say OOT wasn't old enough to experience how mindblowing it was at the time
I buy Panzer Dragoon saga 5 times and only play one of them and leave the other 4 in the shrink

>aged like milk
The game has more content than most games these days and the gameplay is perfect.
>Banjo Kazooie
>masterpiece
Only literal retards like collectathon garbage.
If I'm the age I was in 98 then only Pokemon, Banjo, and SM64. All the other games would be boring, too weird/complicated, or scare me.
If I'm my current age in 98 then Pokemon, Banjo, Half Life, RE2, and OoT.
>unironically preferring pokemon over any of the other games
> Unironically being so contrarian that you wouldn't play the single most popular game of all time when it was just as famous as Michael Jackson when it came out due to how fucking popular it was
Kill yourself
feels great being a boomer
5 copies of pokemon red
>1998
>FF7
Wut
I wait two years and put that money towards a PS2 and games that aren't insanely janky
It would still be sold at full price
mario
007
banjo-kazooie
tekken
GT
fixed that for you OP
if your 98 self would have been to lazy to import a PC98, just pretend that Highly Responsive To Prayers is Metal Slug or Gradius Gaiden instead
Cope more contrarian faggot, nobody gave a shit about anything aside from those 16 games during the late 90s. Stop trying so pathetically hard to fit in
If you just want to eat shovelware and screech about videogames being evil, just go back to lebbit or facebook.
And, Panzer Dragoon Saga and Grim Fandango weren't popular with normalfags either, normalfag.
I love gen 2 plus the Stadium games and Snap. I might not have gotten into those had I not played the first game.
Cope more hipster
Starcraft and I spend the rest on food.
OOT,Links Awkening, MGS,RE2,Half Life
>Mario64
>hipster
Go to Yea Forums if you want to shill MGS and FF7 when actual videogames like Thief and Suikoden II were contemporary.
Ocarina of Time
Banjo-Kazooie
Goldeneye
Resident Evil 2
MediEvil
Nobody gave a single fucking shit about PC gaming except for Blizzard shit & Half-Life you massive contrarian faggots. Stop trying to shill your literal who trash & playing the "revisionist history" card
TLOZ OOT/AL, Tekken 3, MGS, SOTN.
>Nobody gave a single fucking shit about literature except for Quotes of Chairman Mao and Harry Potter you massive contrarian baizuo. Stop trying to shill your literal who trash & playing the "revisionist history" card
>Nobody gave a single fucking shit about restaurants except for McDonald’s except you massive contrarian ableists. Stop trying to shill your literal who trash & playing the "revisionist history" card
On your list:
Castlevania and Grim Fandango
I would also add
Crash Bandicoot: Warped and Spyro the Dragon
Banjo-Kazooie
Mario 64
Castlevania SotN
FF7
Resident Evil 2
>no Thief
replace pokémon with ff7 and you get the perfect list
This is the very bottom of the list that was voted on back in 2006 were it was still boomers on the internet. And none of your garbage games were relevant enough to make the list
half life
SOTN
MGS
Grim
RE 2
pokemon, GT, SC and save the rest for getting AoE2 next year and The Sims in 2 years
>ad populum
'98 me was too poor for that shit. I got Super Mario 64 and Goldeneye in 2000 and Pokemon red version in 2001.
I'd go with those again plus Gran Turismo and Starcraft.
OoT
Mario 64
MGS
SotN
Banjo
>nobody gives a shit about it
>NU UH I'LL SPOUT NONSENSE ABOUT CONTRARIANISM AND MCDONALDS
>posts list of games ranked by popularity, proving WC3 was low popularity and thus nobody gave a shit about it
>lol who cares, popularity isn't a valid argument in determining what was popular
Why are so offended by the idea of people talking about videogames, instead of movies, on a videogame board. You might as well off yourself for being a hipster because even Mario64 wasn't popular compared to the sheer, normalfag pacifying, entertainment of picking your nose or watching Friends.
Go and play some actual videogames before posting here.
Fuck them.
I spend my money on phantasy star 1 to 4
Or i wait 2 years and buy a dreamcast
SM64, MGS, RE2, castlevania, and Pokémon red/blue
Pokémon Red
Ocarina of Time
Symphony of the Night
Final Fantasy VII
Goldeneye
What a seething faggot.
This one and im set until 2000
Also castlevania the rest are shit
The only one here I played as a child was 007.
OoT
SM64
RE2
MGS
Goldeneye
>1998
Total Annihilation, Descent Freespace, Might and Magic VI, Unreal, Fallout 2, and either Interstate 76 or Die by the Sword.
Your list is trash, and having Half-life on there invalidates Goldeneye since only children who couldn't afford a real computer like Goldeneye.
Starcraft
Goldeneye
Zelda
Half Life
RE2
Three for gaming experiences and Starcraft + Goldeneye for near endless replayability and multi player to fill out the year.
Goldeneye was a fucking joke. All the real shooters were on PC.
Even PC also-rans like Blood and Shogo were better.
>You can only afford 5 games for the entire year.
Final Fantasy VII, and that game had to last me until 2001 when I got a Ps2. But if I'm going to pretend I actually got video games.
>Star Craft
>Gran Autismo
>Final Fantasy VII
>Metal Gear Solid
>Castlevania
Would also like to point out that you have both N64, PC, and Playstation games in the same list. N64 games cost like 60 to 80 bucks when I bought Starcraft for $40 at Computer City the week it came out.
Case in point, PC drones flood these threads to mask their irrelevance & Hide their own insecurities
> Fucking grossed 3.1 Billion dollars
> Which is more than every western exclusive PC gaming franchise has is it's entire lifespan except WarCraft
> Popular game doesn't count
> Niche literal who games are the only good ones
> Bbbut those PC games don't count (Grim Fandango, Half-Life) because they are popular
>reading comprehension
I didn't say Mario64 was unpopular.
Grim Fandango was a fucking flop, dude. It became a cult hit after the fact. And Goldeneye wasn't popular with anyone old enough to have hair on their testicles. I'm saying Half-life invalidates Goldeneye because its setting up a scenario where someone has a PC, PSX, and N64 and asks us to believe anyone would willingly play a title that only sold because console players were desperate for FPS games that weren't shit ports of Quake or Doom.
I was in high school at the time and owned an N64. I played every single first person shooter that came out. Goldeneye was bottom barrel.compared to anything on PC.
Oot, mario 64, Pokemon Blue, MGS, and FF7
easy pz
64, Zelda, Zelda again, VII, and Half Life. Tempted to switch out Zelda and Zelda for Symphony and StarCraft though.
OOT
SM64
FF7

> Cries that PC games were somehow popular without any sources except "Please trust me"
