Which one did you like better?
>Odyssey has way more content and has Nintendo polish
>Hat in Time is just as easy of a game but has a huge challenge map with brutal difficulty and reward incentives for you to go all out on
Which one did you like better?
Loved Odyssey. Haven't played HiT but I want to.
Didn't play oddesy yet but I like both games design. More please. WAS gonna try yolka and laylee but only heard bad things about the design.
AHiT bored me. I still haven't beaten it despite buying it last year and reaching the boring spooky forest world. Meanwhile I played Odyssey nonstop the day I got it until I beat it, then beat it 100%.
now kiss
>tranny game vs. one of the highest critically acclaimed games ever made
>Durrrrr which is better?
hat in time was nice but the camera was garbage. That reason alone puts mario leagues above HiT
AHIT is trash. Clusterfuck soulless levels with voice actors off the street. Pedos just want to fuck the kid.
I haven't played odyssey but I know you cant play as a little girl in it
Hat in Time had way too much ambition for an indie game.
The first three chapters were AMAZING
Then Apline Skyline dropped the ball
Then Arctic Cruise had three levels and it's defining feature was doing chores
Then Nyakuza Metro was another worthless Free Roam
It's so disappointing towards the end
A Hat in Time had better, more responsive tight-feeling controls, whereas Odyssey felt floaty and laggy. A Hat in Time also had more enjoyable, diverse level design. Only issue is it was over so fucking fast, I barely got any time with it. Hell, I even went out of my way to not only 100% it but also collect every goddamn yarn ball in the game and I hardly got past 20 hours total clocked in. For longevity and polish go Odyssey, but for everything else, go A Hat in Time.
Loved Odyssey, but haven't played Hat in Time yet. Just waiting for it to get released on Switch... Eventually. Haven't heard anything about the port in about a year now I think
I found a Hat in Time to be pretty dull. It had it's charms though.
That being said my first experience with the game was opening the chest in the room and Hat Girl getting stuck in the animation.
I like the momentum-based movement in A Hat in Time, but Cappy is just too good.
A Hat in Time's level design is a mixed bag for me. I hate the "quirky" moments getting in the way of gameplay and some of the levels are too cluttered/disorganized (not in platforming, but visually). Odyssey is better in this department too.
I just wish Odyssey had more linear platforming sections. The captures were neat for some time, but I really want a sequel based on Cappy movement alone. Also, the motion controls are a negative for the game too obviously.
You can't really give a negative for the motion controls. I don't like them either, but you can literally just ignore them completely
Hat in Time isn't even the best indie platformer of it's year
That title goes to Yo! Noid 2
Oh and one more big thing I wanted to add onto this:
For a game called "A Hat in Time", there really aren't that many unique hat powers which is a real shame.
One is literally a tranny game.
hat in time was better
No you can't tard, there are movements exclusively achieved with motion controls
They are required for some tricks. You can do cool shit with the vertical Cappy throws, but I never use them because they feel so clunky.
Also, the fastest movement option in most cases (fast rolling is faster with motion controls) requires waggling for absolutely no reason, which is pretty shitty. I give a pass for the Cappy throws because it would be pretty hard to implement them with normal controls, but there is no reason to do shit like this.
Is that why I beat the game completely with a controller that doesn't use motion?
I mean, sure, there's some things you can't do without motion, but it's nothing that impacts being able to finish the game
Mario is a tranny game?
You beat the game with only a fraction of your full abilities
>Is that why I beat the game completely with a controller that doesn't use motion?
Impossible. There are a handful of moons that require motion exclusive abilities.
Bro imagine picking a tranny game over Mario
Or I beat the game without using completely optional abilities
Sure, tell that to my 100% save. Tell me ONE moon that absolutely requires motion controls. Hint, there aren't any.
Alpine Skyline was great it was just pure platforming and exploration
A Hat In Time is basically Mario Sunshine 0.5 but with forced Reddit humor and no cohesive vision.
The real question is which game has the better OST
Mafia Town is one of my least favorite levels in a 3D platformer. It's an absolute clusterfuck.
There are no moons that require waggle. The frog one can be obtained without the super jump. The Bullet Bill one can be obtained without speeding up. The Cheep Cheep one can be obtained by just spinning.
I loved AHIT on release and honestly preferred the levels to Odyssey, but going back to the seal DLC felt awful. The controls and camera just weren’t as good as Odyssey’s.
>Tell me ONE moon that absolutely requires motion controls.
The moon in the cap kingdom that requires you to do the motion control jump with the frog to reach.
And the moon in the desert kingdom that requires you to shake your controller to reach it before bullet bill blows up.
I don't like Sunshine's mission structure which Hat in Time emulates (only not as bad because you just need a number of Hourglasses rather than "do all the Shadow Mario missions" so I'd have to say Odyssey.
Both games cower before the might of Mario 64 however.
Alphine Skyline gives the illusion of a Mario 64 esque freedom but really it's just a HUB within a HUB.
>Both games cower before the might of Mario 64
...in terms of what?
Mario 64 has the most freedom in choosing what you want to do and how you go about it, and amazing movement options to boot. Odyssey has great movement as well, but it just throws you into a large level where you're doing the same 10 objectives across all worlds. There are so many moons they are worthless.
Like Bob-omb Battlefield suggests for you to beat King Bob-omb for your first mission, but you could also go do several other missions if you wanted to instead, like the Chain Chomp, 8 Red Coins, or even Island in the Sky if you wanted to. Compare that to Odyssey where you have several moons railroaded to you at several points in the game, like Cascade and New Donk, where you HAVE to do certain things. Mario 64 only does this with the Bowser Submarine, which is a fault, but you never have to go to Dire Dire Docks again if you don't want to. No other specific star is required. Not to mention you have to collect enough moons from every Kingdom, while in Mario 64 you can choose to ignore entire levels if you don't like them. Hat in Time requires Mafia Town's boss to be cleared, but that's it. It's still long, but freedom opens up after that.
I'm rambling but the point is 64 has somehow still never been topped despite kicking the genre off with a bang over 20 years ago.
I liked that cruise mission a lot where you have to do all those tasks under pressure and trying to find to best routes through the ship
>call it a Banjo Kazooie spiritual successor
>it's a Mario Sunshine spiritual succesor with extra Gamecube dicksucking like Paper Mario TTYD nods and Zelda Wind Waker inspired art
>new 3D Mario game
>actually structured like a Banjo Kazooie game
Hat in Time with mods is platforming kino

I don't understand why people had so much trouble with the hat in time death wishes, i'm far from a speedrunner but I was able to the final boss rush
Accomplishments feel more meaningful in Hat in Time.
Odyssey throws collectibles at you for every little thing and makes them feel meaningless.
The one that doesn't have a tranny flag on it.
M64 sucked and had boring levels
those are some very explained opinions that totally let me see where you're coming from.
Odyssey didn’t have forced political opinions so it wins by default. Also you don’t see Miyamoto “clap back”ing on Twitter.
3d Mario hasn't been good since the N64. A Hat in Time was (almost) everything I would have wanted out of a spiritual successor. The Death Wish contracts kicking my fucking ass was a refreshing change of pace too.
>Odyssey
>Floaty and laggy
No actual argument so you’re making shit up.
>political
someone wanting to mutilate their genitals has no effect on you until they try to make it mandated and funded by the state, which they will.
It effects me when they bitch enough to get things taken out of games, costumes changed, or American releases cancelled entirely.
Everyone sleeps on Yo Noid 2, it's almost criminal.
AHiT. Galaxy > 3D World > Odyssey .
