Why don't more games with loot systems use couriers...

Why don't more games with loot systems use couriers? Torchlight did this for a while but no one seems to be inheriting the design. It's only marginally useful in MOBAs, but has plenty of application in games like RPGs.

because they will monetize it somehow through microtransactions.

>pay money for extra courier speed
>pay money for more courier cosmetics you can't unlock in-game unless you grind for 1000 hours

Attached: Dsy2Zq9XgAATxBG.jpg (1080x1080, 153K)

>Pay money for a courier that has guns attached and is harder to kill
>Pay money for a courier that turns invisible at random times.

actually couriers are useful in dota, because there is risk/reward assocaited with their use.
in other games they are magical stashes, and the entire point of not having magical stashes is to create tradeoffs in looting

Dumb chink

I mean at that point, why not just have global inventory?

hope those they get stolen and/or destroyed

I think he’s seen the Matrix. He knows what he’s talking about.

I don't particularly like most of Yang's policies but its insane that he's the only one to bring up automation as a significant topic and no one on EITHER side does.

It's the most pertinent problem of the modern era. People don't understand the wide ranging consequences of AI and Big Data. We are very close to automating away jobs people would never ever think to automate away. Uber and Lyft are banking on self driving cars very soon. The former is losing 5B a QUARTER with how confident they are that they can just stop paying all Uber drivers in the next few years.

>automation, which has been around longer than most people on earth have been alive, is suddenly a problem for society instead of a driving force behind production and manufacturing
what did he mean by this

>*KA-CHUNK*

One day, we'll regret giving Amazon the freedom to make mini delivery tanks and a drone fleet.

give it back deshaun.

>implying niggers won't steal them

Sheeeeit, DeShawn. I stoled one o' dose Amuhzahn rowbotts

what's to stop people from disabling them removing their tracking and selling them?

The industrial revolution caused a ton of problems what are you talking about? It directly led to American slavery.

It's in South California, they'll be used to smuggle drugs to and from places

Yang is retarded and his UBI is just a tech bro UBI that would fuck over the disabled.

they lose money to gain marketshare
after they drive out conventional taxis they'll raise rates

you overestimate the intelligence of a nigger

This
People are too retarded to look up shit like what an assembly line is or that old cultures got sick of hauling water back home so would dig a path from a river or something to their village if it was too far away to walk without taking up half the day.

This post is so dumb I think it gave me a brain aneurysm

i bet these are only in mostly white cities

lmao sure, they are losing money to gain marketshare, but they are spending 1.5B in R&D and only 750M in stuff related to free rides and promotions. It's largely not that.

>defenseless stupid box on wheels that can't do anything but mindlessly zoom along at moderate speed to destination
>carrying valuable goods
How's this supposed to work exactly? Just pick it up, walk to a secluded area, dismantle it, and keep the package for yourself.

They don't do these tests in the rural areas Yea Forums lives in because they can't figure out how to effectively power these things to travel the 100 miles required between each house in a rural area

Unless niggers have mini EMP devices those things will shout louder than bloody murder, take 8000 pictures of you and ping your exact location every 3 seconds
You’d be caught within the hour

>he doesn't know what the cotton gin is or cotton gin machines

>cool robots delivering shit to you
>all /dpt/ can talk about is stealing

Your citizen social score has been lowered by 200 points. You are no longer allowed to travel on airlines outside the country. Please report to the reconditioning facility by following the directions on your smartphone. Thank you.

*tips you over with a stick*

THESE PEOPLE ARE LIKE GHOSTS, ADAM

It probably has a built in GPS to track down if it's stolen. Dismantling is too difficult for the niggers who would steal a package.

But how would they work in a city of crowded sidewalks?

/g/*

what happens to everyday people when they're no longer needed? we're already at carrying capacity and blowing through our resources.

Attached: 3272D534-9C20-4D33-8DA8-54C30DD72FCB.jpg (630x880, 75K)

You realize these things are gonna have some kind of 360 degree camera recording everything.

Is Amazon aware that niggers will steal the robots? They'll steal the package inside, and scrap the robot for parts, and sell them.

I could see niggers getting their hands on a repairman code that makes the device dump all it’s content

fucking skynet

>when you think you're smart but you just reveal you're a dumb nigger

They won't last a day in most cities.

>The fact that i wont have to deal with whiny teenagers doing jobs they dont want to do is tearing the country appart
Imagine being an expendable worker, lol

>touchscreens replacing fast food workers
>robots replacing call center workers
>self driving cars to replace taxis, bus drivers, truck drivers, and personal delivery drivers
>basic programming replacing most repetitive desk work
>any easy computer work is outsourced to india
what did capitalism mean by this

Exactly. These Amazon bots wouldn't survive in any heavy populated city outside of a select Californian cities LA definitely not being one of them. Hell I'd rob them because what are they gonna do shoot me?

t. retard

I really doubt they're gonna use these things in areas where >1% is black.

Thankfully amazon isn't as retarded as you.

if softbank was only interested in automation they wouldn't be investing in a ride-sharing business in the first place; they would just do r&d and burn money at a lower rate

>hit it long distance with a net to immobilize it, far away enough that that the camera can't see you, or do it while disguised
>trap it in a mini faraday cage so GPS can't track it
>take it home and pry the package out
>dump components somewhere far away later, or burn them
The minute these things start being common an entire industry will spring up with ways to steal from them.

Attached: iu[1].jpg (1600x1067, 135K)

Wheres the downside?

got 'em

*tips it over*

Attached: 1526414166716.jpg (539x480, 65K)

They obviously also care about their market share and establishing their brand. But to act like it's just them burning through money to make a largely unprofitable taxi service and hope to bankrupt the ENTIRE taxi service which is one of the most ingrained American industries before they raise prices is ridiculous. We would literally have self driving cars before that happens.

These things require intelligence which black people don't have and they're the majority of thefts.

>PEOPLE ARE GONNA STEAL IT CUZ NIGGURZ NIGGURZ NIGGURZ
>I shall ignore the 5 posts in this thread pointing out how I am retarded and these things would have security features and stuff like this already exists in numerous cities
>I will also ignore these cities have rental bikes and scooters they leave around and they are also not magically stolen
You people are retarded but think saying nigger makes you intelligent.

are you some amazon pajeet working on drones that are going to get destroyed or stolen.

I do wonder what will happen when all jobs are automated. Will we all just be told to fuck off and die, or will they find some bullshit for us to do?

I want amazon to start doing those blimp/drone things just so I can start seeing people making up ideas to shoot them like birds with hunting rifles

You think this is a feasible idea in major urban cities? People have shot pizza delivery drivers over 10 $ pizzas.

The moment you inmobilize it an alarm louder than an screeching children will blast out of it, good luck handling it after that

>Stolen
How would anyone ever steal these? Are you stupid?

>People don't understand the wide ranging consequences of AI and Big Data
of course not dummy
what is the one thing both political tribes use to control people with?

>Hell I'd rob them because what are they gonna do shoot me?

You won't be laughing when Amazon makes their weaponized v2 drones that shoot any person that dares touch them.

Which subsequently led to the most powerful country in history being builtWhat's your point? Do you think we progress without suffering or mistakes?

the vast amount of unemployment? there are far more low level jobs than high level jobs

Yes, because similar things already exist in these cities you retarded country bumpkin retard. Stop watching FOX news for 5 seconds.

>It's only marginally useful in MOBAs
You're fucking retarded, dotas early game is easily won by courier usage.

Jesus why the fuck are robots so cute? I want one of these in my house

Attached: 1551381726927.jpg (567x531, 54K)

>not wanting to fuck it

>or will they find some bullshit for us to do?
Probably universal income, they cant tell all that people to fuck off because they still need people to buy shit.

Ok and who do you think will be the "slaves" of the modern era? The people who suffer the most? Is it... the middle and lower class who make 60k a year driving trucks, working in accounting, and doing all sorts of jobs that will likely be automated away in the coming years?

Like what? What robot delivery service are you using?

cuts jobs, risks future generations (genz) will have to struggle harder to find even a basic job. yet prices of good will continue to go up instead of down which was the selling point to automation

The common people will be given an extremely basic low quality life. No meat, everyone eats soi/beans/rice/corn and soda for every meal, small apartments crammed together in mega cities. Here already preparing for this shit. CNN is constantly putting out articles saying people need to stop eating meat and eat bugs and shit. Africa is projected to balloon to 10 billion people and they're gonna start flooding the rest of the world. Hell will look beautiful compared to the earth in a couple decades.

Because muh immigrants are taking our jobs. One gets votes, the other doesn't

no, we're definitely not in line for self-driving cars anytime soon. like all ai technologies it's overhyped for the stock market. all of the drive assist technology is incredibly flaky, and doing a terrorism on them is going to be really easy for displaced workers.
ride-sharing companies are regulatory avoidance; getting people to drive their own vehicles f or $3/h to kill the taxi industry

Nobody steals rental bikes or scooters because there's no resale value to them, and you can't use them because they're obviously stolen. Maybe you can cannibalize them for parts but that takes time and specialized tools. These robots would be carrying all manner of goods. It's less about trying to steal the robot than trying to get at the juicy meat inside. You could bust open one of these things and get a brand new $599 iphone which is much easier to resell or keep for yourself. Or it could be a $20 sweater. Either way the allure of finding some really expensive merchandise will definitely inspire thefts/vandalism.

Yeah bud they're just gonna give you a high quality of life in exchange for nothing. The rich have definitely proven they're such benevolent and kind people. They totally won't force you to live in a dumpster.

*block your path*

im starting to think about all those drunks and hoodlums that fucked up/stole all those robots back when this tech was first emerging. everyone thought they were just a bunch of fucking retards, little did they know they had the right idea all along. we were too worried about whether we could and not enough about whether we should

Don't be absurd. Companies have zero reason to reduce price of goods when they can sell it for the same amount while they cut costs from automation. That's just how capitalism works.

What about a car battery, some copper wire, and a rod of iron?

They are not for lewd you degenerate

>how could anyone ever steal a drone? You'd need some kind of super advanced technology to take one out of the sky!

Attached: iu[1].jpg (960x790, 74K)

>Either way the allure of finding some really expensive merchandise will definitely inspire thefts/vandalism.
This is factually wrong. With this line of thinking, more people would be porch pirates.
The reality is that a majority of ordered items on Amazon are MUNDANE GARBAGE that you would have bought at a Target/Walmart or other supermarket but didn't want to. These are the kind of customers Amazon wants anyways, not the ones who buy one high profile item and then never shop again.

Literally five (5) of my friends work on self-driving technology right now, all straight out of stanford to work for companies like Ford, Tesla, and Google. They are all crazy gung-ho about self driving cars, it's way closer than you think.

I mean fuck, Tesla already has limited self driving and people still keep buying them in droves even after its killed people.

>Tesla already has limited self driving and people still keep buying them in droves even after its killed people.
There's only one reported death in the cases of self-driving cars and it was Uber's technology. Quit spewing FUD

There's a reason why these things are being fielded in suburbs. Low crime and everybody knows each other means it's hard as fuck to commit a crime and get away with it.

Oh yeah Amazon delivery robot parts are in extreme demand on the street right now! Do you stupid niggers ever stop to think before you post?

Automation is going to (GOING to, this is an absolute guarantee, not a maybe, not a perhaps) wipe out a huge portion of society's jobs, and that means that unless we're willing to let millions of people starve because they're no longer useful to society some form of socialist response is required, whether vastly expanded food and housing aid, schooling, or universal basic income.

they don't need people to buy things. they simply need perfectly obedient slaves to meet their own consumption needs.
taxing yourself to buy your own output makes no sense at all.

Attached: dronekillrunestone.jpg (480x609, 84K)

Well that's what im saying, even a Yea Forumsirgin knows that its largely no Tesla's fault or that the common driver would be even worse. A growing population means older people are dying and newer people are more accepting of AI. People who think that self-driving cars isn't a threat to a lot of jobs are delusional. It's not at all an exaggeration to say that its very possible that they are major threat within the next 8 years.

They are absolutely willing to let billions starve. At most they will give people enough to afford rice, beans, tv and a tiny apartment for their entire family.

the industrial revolution was caused by slavery becoming illegal. people started automating things mechanically since they actually had to pay people to monotonous tasks

Teslas have killed people relying on the self driving part which is incomplete.

what the fuck there is a ton of theft in bicycle shares

How is it going to handle rolling through Compton, when niggers with baseball bats see a very fancy pinata?

nigga when do you think the industrial revolution happened....

>A Level 2 driving system expects a driver to be fully aware at any time of the driving and traffic situation and be able to take over any moment

>the industrial revolution was caused by slavery becoming illegal
Public education in America is a joke.

Attached: 1404574310356.jpg (544x400, 20K)

Honestly what will probably have to happen is that they do just kill off anyone past a certain age who hasn't achieved something of note. In general, the reason to have so much reproduction is in hopes that someone who is born will be worth something to the world; for every baby that grows up to cure a disease or make the next life changing invention, thousands of babies are born who do nothing but consume and work the jobs that will be phased out. Instead of keeping them alive, they'll probably just be wiped out since it's clear they aren't going anywhere. And I say this as the very first person who would be on the chopping block to be killed.

>it's way closer than you think
people have been saying it's happening right now and we'll see them show up any day now for years and years

>IRL gacha

If anything I think the elites would be happy if their robots get stolen because they would easily catch the people and then they get more cheap prison labor.

And yet pizza continues to be delivered. Think about the shit you post for at least half a second you dumb motherfucker.

Automation will result in violence.
The best thing to do would be to use the power to create an immense amount of wealth to let your people live in relative peace and prosperity, but having slaves is too good. They'd rather let you starve.
There will only be violence, and the violence will result in total destruction, or in just barely being able to survive.
People who think we're gonna get Star Trek shit in post-scarcity forget that they're constantly under the boot of both corporations, governments and third party elites who want to keep them as cattle.

what suddenly changed that made automation now different from the automation of before?

The difference is losing a pizza means you lose $10. How much of these robots going missing are going to count as acceptable losses to Amazon?

The scale. Before it was some industries, and you can see the results of it (Detroit).
This time, it's going to be most industries, not just some.

Based Yang. Can't wait to get my Yangbux.

Attached: 1565374865070.jpg (2048x1536, 592K)

people make careers out of m-theory and quantum computing and it's all rubbish, but good luck to your friends in getting the automotive industry ruined from lots of lawsuits

You just said people were being fucking shot over pizza. Don't you think the loss of life would be an even bigger consideration?

the only thing andrew yang is going to do is go back to farming reddit gold

>This time, it's going to be most industries, not just some
scale wouldn't affect that, so that doesn't explain what's different between our great grandparent's parent's generation and our generation's automation

>automation is going to make a lot of jobs obsolete
>should we just let the population fall by itself and stabilize?
>no, let's import millions of third worlders instead

Attached: 20190627_144606.jpg (956x956, 203K)

no. bottom rung service workers are so worthless that amazon is trying to replace them with powerwheels

Maybe I should've said scope?
The difference is that pretty much all jobs that can be automated will be automated.
